the guy has a fvcking 100 foot painting of himself on the concourse. i'm pretty sure he'll be remembered as nothing but a devil regardless of where he might finish this season and if he plays somewhere else next year

If Marty blows it on Saturday, he isn't going anywhere but riding the bench.
I see this game as a convenient game in the schedule to give Brodeur a chance to shine for some other teams.
my hope is that marty lucks into a 3-0 shutout win where he makes some scorpion save that makes the highlights even though he's way out of position and minny decides to trade backstrom for him thinking that marty/harding is fine for this year and they can go harding/keumper next year

my issue with PDO also is that the worst teams are often also the worst teams in the league. you can't just say - they're low so they're unlucky.
buffalo, calgary, islanders, florida - these are bad teams, not unlucky teams.
unfortunately, the devils (last year and this year) may just be turning out to be bad teams.
sure their defense looks exceptional by many shot based stats. but as it's becoming more and more clear, pdb's system calls for low event hockey and that lends itself to low shots on goal in the first place.
i really hope Brunner AND Raymond signs and perform... cause even with those 2
Elias Zajac Ryder
Clowe Henrique Brunner
Raymond Loktionov Zubrus
Carter Josefson Bernier
Tedenby Gionta Barch
its not a great great group of forwards. There's not one legit top line player in that group, its gonna hurt. Especially since we're not getting tons of goals from our defence either.
You're bumping olesz out of the top 12 w/ 2 signings and I don't think that's happening. As it is, signing brunner, which I very much want, knocks gionta out and we know the devils are fond of him.
I think they're signing one more forward and that's what they'll go to camp with. That alone knocks one of barch, gionta and tedenby off the varsity and we know barch stays to be the resident punching bag
we fancied ourselves contenders before kovy's announcement. he was an integral part of the team for sure but where he helped most was PK and PP. I'm not convinced that he was the engine that made the PK go and the PP was never great with him. While I don't subscribe to the idea that he was not a good 5 on 5 player, there's enough evidence to suggest he wasn't as great as his name made you think.
this team has a 12-13 senators feel to it, i think. nothing outstanding (karlsson aside), but a bunch of good players and good goaltending. the devils could mirror that. i think jagr would be a terrific fit for one year. his presence on the PP totally changes its dynamic and he's a really good ES player.
Lou should point out how Lucic went from a fan favourite and an absolute God in boston to the scapegoat being benched and booed by the same fans within a year, why? cause he's getting way too much money for what he's doing and people expect 30 goals every season now cause thats what he signed for.
People don't sh!t on players with very fair deal as much when they go cold. I'd really take that into consideration if im Clarkson. Looking around the league to see all those guys who signed for more than can chew
i'm sure lucic is sticking hundred dollar bills in his ears to keep from hearing fans boo him.
when people say, "put yourself in his shoes" they're not saying, take your twenty something internet surfing fan of your favorite team self and turn yourself into a world class athlete.
they're saying - look at it from the guy who worked his whole life to get to this point and has an extremely limited window to maximize his earning potential for the rest of his life.
i have absolutely no problem with clarkson trying to get every dollar he can. i never have this issue with any athlete.
