#1272825 Let's start a pool of where Brodeur will end up

Congratulations Marty! --you've alienated your own fans.

Speak for yourself. He hasn't alienated me. I think he should have retired at the end of the season, and I definitely don't want him back in a Devils uniform in the future. But my respect and admiration for the man is not diminished by the fact that he simply wants to continue to play. I don't like seeing him in his current situation, and I agree that he's put himself there by his own actions. But the thing that blinds him to the reality of his position - call it ego, competitiveness, drive, whatever term you want - is also the very thing that made him arguably the best there's ever been. His current predicament is not pretty, and I don't like it. But it doesn't discount his accomplishments to me.

#1246996 All purpose Olympics thread

Somebody really needs to tell Pierre McGuire that "selling out" is not a compliment. I only saw three of the Olympic games, but in that time I heard him describe players giving everything they've got as "selling out." It's not the only idiotic thing I've ever heard him say, but it might be the MOST idiotic.

Uhmm...

Calling bad behavior bad is not arrogant.

"Everybody does it."

"I've done it before."

"The opponents do the same thing."

"Other fans do stuff that's much worse."

These statements, and those similar, may all be true. That does not change the fact that the behaviors are crude, disrespectful, unsportsmanlike, and embarrassing. If you want to behave this way, or accept this behavior in others, fine -- that's your choice. But don't try to tell the rest of us we're wrong to disapprove. We're not. It's that simple.

Could it be that stupid Flyers swallow chant that kills any chance of them boosting the crowd noise?

I'm all for tradition and everything, but I'm sick to death of how much "sucking" goes on in the course of a game. It starts with the opposing team's scratches, then their starting lineup. Then there's 6 or 8 "Rangers Suck" chants, minimum. Then every time we score there's "You Suck" during the goal song. If the refs blow a call, they suck. It gets really really old, really really quick. I think if I could change one thing about the live game experience at the Rock, that's what I'd change.
