Except he and Kovy are rarely marketed. If I'm a casual sports fan in this state or area I barely know who these guys are but a casual sports fan in Maryland or northern Virgina knows who Alex Ovechkin is, maybe even Backstrom and Semin. That's the difference and a problem with the Devils. They don't promote their star players or their team well enough. What happened to the posters at the NJTransit stations or on buses? Billboards?
As for the Blackhawks they have frontrunners(which help fill the seats), but not just because they were Cup contenders. Don't underestimate how much damage Bill Wirtz did to that club and fanbase. They barely missed the playoffs in 2008 but attendance still jumped from 29th in 07 to 19th in 08 to 1st overall in 09.
When you can only get 15,000 to a late season game against the Flyers when you're in the middle of a playoff race on a Sunday with no rain or snow, something is seriously wrong.
This is a problem that has gone on since the Devils moved here. McMullen and Lou have always had the impression that if they promoted their players, they would then become stars and demand big money. They admitted it someplace in an interview long ago. However, they would like for you to believe they do this as a way to put team above player which is total BS.
Look at the player polls that come out every year when they ask "Which team would you like to play for if you had the chance?" Usually it is successful or traditional teams that are ranked high but not the Devils. The Devils are almost certainly never in the top 5 or even top 10.
Wow. Game had a little bit of everything didn't it? A pathetic 25+ minute performance, a little bit of hope, a bunch of nice saves by Brodeur. Poor old man, playing his heart out and this team continues to let him down. Typical Devils. All and all this is who the Devils are. Not the team who was 9-1-1. They can't compete with top teams 80% of the time and IF they make the playoffs they'll be lucky to win a single game.
Oh And another hat trick? Thats just fvcking lovely. Embarrassing.
If they lose to the Caps tonight they can seriously go fvck themselves. Inconsistency is key for these bullsh!t artist. It's absolutely inexcusable to win 5 in a row and then gain only 1 point in your next 4 games, especially with the amount of talent on the team.
But hey stay positive right? We've only been losing by 1 goal each game! Hurray! And it will get easier...oh wait, no it won't.
lol is it just me or does anyone else really look forward to your posts after a devils loss?
I am not kidding I just laugh thinking somewhere out there you are just going nuts over this. Agree with you or not no one can say that you dont make the board a little more entertaining.

lmao this is my new text message ringtone. BRUTAL CALL!!
Haha I just played it about 10 times in a row and it is just as funny the first time as it is the last time. When he says "brutal call" if you freeze the video it looks like is sneezing and having a seizure at the same time.

It probably depends how many games you go to and how many Ranger fans you associate with vis-a-vis getting emotionally high-strung with these games. I was pretty high-strung last night at the arena, especially after having half my row sell their tickets to Ranger fans and listening to those twats in and around 120 do 'Hey, hey, hey' in our building after their goals and 'Potvin sucks' when others tried to do 'Rangers suck'. Not to mention the dope chanting Devils suck during the frigging anthem.
Not to mention having Rupp cheap-shot his ex-mates every game to prove a point. He's a twat too, currently my most disliked Ranger now that Sideshow Sean is tucked away in Conneticut. I don't actually dislike too many other of the Rangers, maybe Dubinsky.
Or you can do what I have been doing for the past few years now and what the 4 or 5 Devils fans behind me did in our Ranger-filled section. Whenever the Devils scored, during and after Rock n Roll Part 2 we instead did the Rangers goal song. They hate that.
