#1204392 BEER

Posted by DevsMan84 on 19 July 2013 - 10:02 PM

Yes sam adams which is a billion dollar company. They sell quality products and you know what you're getting time in and time out. If you ask me their the best company around. BUT paying around 9 dollars and upward for a six pack is ridiculous. I manage a bar and liquor store, the consumers speak for themselves. For every 1 case of craft beer you'll sell about 50 cases of normal domestic and imports. Me personally i love to try the new crafts, but the average Joe isn't going to even think of spending that amount of money for a beer that's probably going to be garbage compared to a bud or rolling rock. You see people agreeing with you because you're at a bar serving craft beers lol they wouldn't be there if they didn't like the same things you do.

I don't mind spending the money, and neither do any of yous, but a lot of the times i'm 4 beers through a six pack and say to myself, welp that was nice to try but i'll never buy that again. Why, because most crafts are mediocre at best, but it's fun to discuss them and try new styles.

On that note has anyone tried innis & gunn? I'm drinking the original and i gotta say it is absolutely awesome. It's so smooth and has a little vanilla/caramel taste to it.

Well it depends on an area your bar an liquor store are at. There are certain populations who are quite content with the sh!t beers and that's fine. I do see more and more bars that used to not serve craft beer now have them, so there must be an increase in demand to the point where they are devoting valuable tap space to these craft beers. As for the price yes they are more, but is rather spend $9 on a so-so craft beer than $4 or $5 on a sh!tty six pack of bud or coors. Even beers like the below average Founders lineup of beers are far superior than anything anheuser Busch, coors and miller can spit out. Hell the big guys have been so afraid of craft beer that they have been rolling out these fake craft beer brands like leinenkugel and batch 19 over the past few years to tap into that market. If they are so confident in their flagship products they wouldn't even bother to to do that but they are.

It's hard to break the average joe's taste buds after decades of marketing and small selection and quality put out by the big guys. However most people I have seen who have never tried craft before and finally do never go back to the big brewery swill ever again.

#1202640 Kovalchuk Retired Effective Immediately?

I've watched youtube videos of people burning their Kovy jerseys.  I must say the official replicas burn much faster and easier than I figured.

After today's Kovy news there is not enough craft beer in the world to hide the anger and pain of losing him.

#1200394 CLARKSON SIGNS w/TORONTO $36.75M / 7yrs

Posted by DevsMan84 on 05 July 2013 - 02:31 PM

Clarkson never was even close to being one of my favorite players so emotionally this is no skin off my back.

CR1976 is right, that contract has "bad contract" written all over it and glad the Devils didn't do it.

So far I think Lou has done a pretty good job at the FA market this off-season.

#1198994 My Girlfriends Vlogs

Posted by DevsMan84 on 02 July 2013 - 09:05 AM

i would be whispering during the movie, because since it was a political movie i would occasionally spout a few facts. its how i am. and you think i've been a good addition to the boards?

I mean some whispering is alright, even I do that.  However some people whisper throughout the movie and that can be annoying, especially when you are sitting right in front of the people doing it.  I've noticed at the theater when people are whispering it is much louder when you are right in front of it than being beside it or behind it.

Also yes lol I mean why not?  You are far more positive and enthusiastic than a lot of posters here, me included lol.  I wish I could be a little more positive about the Devils overall, but that is just me.  I have been better though lately.

Plus you didn't come here with an attitude or on a high horse like a lot of posters do when they first come on.  Already that earned a lot of my respect.  I'll admit I didn't start off here with my best foot forward but I think I have gotten better.

#1194845 Rags fire Tortorella

Posted by DevsMan84 on 11 June 2013 - 08:30 AM

The Rags would never be able to sign Messier to be their coach because the tears from his eyes would smudge the ink on his contract.

Though on the other hand MSG could save money by getting rid of the zambonis as his tears would be more than enough to re-surface the ice during the intermissions.

#1191371 Rangers fans

Posted by DevsMan84 on 13 May 2013 - 03:11 PM

My guess is your Rangers fan friends don't think twice about the "Potvin sucks" chants they do 12 times a game at the Garden.  Potvin has been retired for almost 20 years and they still do it, but its ok for the Rags because its "tradition."

The "rangers suck" chant is at least somewhat relevant during a Devils/Sens game in February because (a) the Rags still play in the NHL, and (b) they do actually suck.  Rags fans don't like it because deep down inside they know its the truth.

That still doesn't make it relevent at all.

Let the Rangers and their fans have their dumb "traditions."  Just ripping one of theirs off for the past 8-10 years doesn't make ours right or better.

I swear every year I hear more of the Rangers suck chants than I do of "Let's go Devils" and it just shows what a huge inferiority complex our fanbase has.

#1190859 BEER

Posted by DevsMan84 on 08 May 2013 - 02:30 PM

No, no, no, that wasn't it at all! ... I think it is a good thing that we're honest here if we don't like a certain type of beer or a brewer in general. This thread won't be very informative if all we do is mention beers that we like but not ones we don't like.

I remember you saying in the past that you like pilseners and other German styles of beer. I happen to like lots of those styles of beer too -- although I do like almost every Founders brew I have tasted, LOL.

I REALLY was interested to hear what brewers you liked, HONEST, LOL.

Oh ok sorry then I apologize lol.

Every time I say to another beer nut that I am not a fan of Founders I get a reaction like I just committed an awful crime.

I do tend to like the Pilsners and other German styles.  I also have in the last year or so fallen in love with IPA's.  I do appreciate Stouts and Porters but I doubt I will ever really like them the way I like others.

Belgium styles I am on the fence on.  I guess depends on who is the brewer.
