It doesn't matter. By the time the end of the season comes around, or close to it, there will be teams that are eliminated. Hell maybe one of them is us. But this logjam will slowly start to break apart. THIS MAY COME TO A SHOCK TO YOU, BUT THESE TEAMS WILL ALL BE PLAYING AGAINST EACH OTHER FOR THE MOST PART IN THE FINAL 2 AND A HALF MONTHS IN THE SEASON! That includes us. In other words, we will have plenty of opportunities to close the gap ourselves, not to mention when they beat up on each other.
Worrying about the games in hand and seeding AT THIS VERY MOMENT is pointless!
The last dozen posts or so by you are again you playing both sides and that is why half the board finds you annoying. You are telling people it's too early about what other teams are doing yet in the OOT thread you post every fvcking day about what results we want from other teams to help us in the standings. Stop talking out of both sides of your mouth and drop the "playing devils advocate" schtick coma you seem to be in and more people won't have an issue with you.
We honor the military enough at our games, even schmucks who just signed up a week ago and have been stationed at Fort Dix for 2 days. We used to honor guys who received congressional medal of honors and even a Purple Heart or two, and now we go overboard. (And I do agree, we should honor some more law enforcement; there's firefighters and cops ACTUALLY saving American lives everyday who could stand to get a little more recognition).
Our love affair with the military is mainly the reason our country's education system is so messed up and behind. We'd rather send our men and women to guard an oil field in Iraq than reduce our class sizes and hire/train a few more teachers. Then our politicians brainwash and beat into our heads that teachers are lazy and overentitled... gtfohere
I do NOT envy teachers' jobs at all. Especially nowadays, they have to be psychologists/P.C.-crusaders/law enforcement all in one. My mom was a teacher and I would've never swapped places with her, despite me working 12 hour days and having crap benefits. People talk about how hard parenting is; well, teachers have to deal with our sh!tty young generations for 8 a day (and more). You don't just stand there and regurgitate information; if that was all the job was, it'd be a much more attractive profession.
Most people dislike teachers unions, not teacher themselves. That's another debate right there though.
I work and I bust my ass off and of course I feel like I should be earning more than I do. I would say I make a decent amount but since I am moving into a place next week I always feel like I could earn more. I mean I think this feeling is shared by pretty much every person on Earth. However, while military personnel and first responders are risking their lives every day, people such as myself and teachers are pretty safe working at a desk job (as much as you would want to say otherwise, a teaching job is a desk job). Since teachers then get free tickets, where are mine too? I work long hours, deal with customers who range from friendly to unreasonable/unrealistic to just plain jerks and I have to do it without losing my cool. How is that a lot different than teachers?
I always appreciate teachers and I believe a vast majority are good, honest and hard-working people. However, why do they always get the "untouchable" label thrown at them by a good chunk of society and why are they getting free tickets for a job that is not really far off from what I and most people in the private sector do?

Even if Newark was close to as dangerous as the media exaggerates, what made anyone think waking a handful of blocks from your car to the stadium and back with throngs of people would present any serious threat? Fear of urban areas really just stems from ignorance and misperceptions. And they need to be careful balancing revitalization, and make sure gentrification is held somewhat in check. We don't want to see the local population displaced.
Why? The reason a good chunk of Newark is a craphole because of the people who live there. Hell, almost every plighted area in the US is plighted because of the people who live there.
Here again is the reverse fear of gentrification because it somehow destroys the "charm" of these areas. Give me a friggin break. DUMBO was a sh!thole before the hipsters moved in and if you want to romaticize an area that was full of gangs, drugs and violence then go right ahead. I like walking through that area without having to worry about my safety.

Two wins: yaaaaay!!!
Loss: everyone from Lou to the stick boy are terrible.
Eh I don't see it that way for the most part. Only a couple of posters really feel that way and they are the usual suspects. This team does have a very serious goal scoring problem, injury problem, and player personnel problem. Marty looked bad, no one could score even with many glorious chances, and the fact that more skilled players say in favor of sestito and janssen are legitimate complaints

Not really accurate. Not like any of us know what led to what in this case. Also not like fights are constantly breaking out at Devils games either. Sometimes sh!t happens.
Usually happens to the crowd that has either had too much to drink or are just normally obnoxious people who cannot control their rage or know how to act in public. I personally find it hard to believe these are just completely random. At least one of the parties involved in this acted like what I just stated and from the story DJ told and it looks like it was actually both of them.

Did anyone see the fight after the game? I turned the corner toward upper level SE escalator (near section 124) and see a beer go flying and notice an argument between Devils and Penguins fans and an older (30s/40s, only saying older because the Pens fans were 20 or 21ish) lady in a Devils jersey walking away and her boyfriend pulling her back.
10 seconds later, I see a chick in a Penguins jersey in her face and the Devils lady KNOCKED HER THE F OUT... I'm talking like Kovalchuk knocking out Schenn or Boulton knocking out Murray: total connection with the right hook to the face. I give Devils fans credit, they were doing their best to separate the ladies but these chicks were RABID.. I can't imagine what was said. Penguins chick was bleeding heavily from her mouth and her friend stepped in and was pretty much attached to the Devils fan throwing punches and pulling hair, etc.. There were at least 5 different times that fans stepped in to separate them but they were livid, both sides.
Gotta say I give the Penguins fan the benefit of the doubt. They were two Pens fans couples that were in section 119 and were pretty respectful, nothing stood out in my mind that they were causing trouble. They weren't drunk either. Gotta say, I think it might've been a crazy drunk bitch in a Devils fan that made it happen. Hope the Pens fans are okay, she got KNOCKED out.
What sucks is that this sh!t never happens at a Devils-Rangers/Devils-Flyers game where some of the most scumbag disrespectful fans come into our arena. Who fights at a Devils-Penguins game????
The same type of crowd that wants to turn the arena into their own personal living room and whining when "you suck" chant is taken away from them.
the bad atmosphere wasn't because of the YOU SUCK or lack of it. There was nobody there at all last night. Even the upper deck was half empty. There were still doofuses trying to put in you suck into the new song (and embarrassing themselves more than usual) but the bad atmosphere wasn't because of the lack of R&R pt 2 as much as you'd like it to be because of that. It's because the team stinks and nobody's excited and there was nobody there
When I was walking out of the arena last night, I heard a couple guys saying to each other it is because of R&R pt 2 not being played is why they lost at home. Their reason was that the song "intimidates" the other team.
I turned around to see if they were joking but by the looks on their faces they were dead serious.
