#1144252 Zach Parise 'ran the show' + 30 Thoughts

Posted by DevsMan84 on 18 July 2012 - 02:27 PM

It's a message board. Everyone is talking to everyone. How do you not understand this after how many posts you have? And yet it's clear you don't.

It's like you're programmed to troll poorly - I hadn't read your latest post when I posted that, that's why I added it. I'm not playing the victim card. I'm just saying that your statements are sometimes indefensible and when they are, you go to the well with standard insults. That's all. I guess I should understand by now that message boards attract this sort of argument. (and that I've done this before, so it's not like I'm above it)

And you have mastered the Mr. Message Board Know-It-All to a T. Every board has one, and you are it. All of your posts towards me always start or end with some subtle jab from your high horse. It's not hard to miss.

And you are programmed to have the same 2 theories on anyone who disagrees with you or calls you out; either you call them a troll or you assume they are hiding behind another ID. You went right to the first one since I've first been on here over 2 years ago. How dare I ever question you!

I really do try to completely skip and not respond to any of your posts. I think I've done pretty well since this only happens every few months and we both post quite a bit here. However when you directly start this crap with me don't get pissed when I make you look foolish.

#1142790 Destroying The Pyramids

Posted by DevsMan84 on 10 July 2012 - 01:06 PM

We had Santorum run for president, that's basically the same thing. Egypt has every right to elect anyone they want into power. I don't care if they elected a three legged dog, it's their country. I know that Mubarak was an "ally" to the US, but maintaining an "ally" is not worth the oppression of an entire population of people. If Egypt wants to vote in extremist religious politicians, so be it, it's their problem, not ours.

I seriously don't understand why this country is so obsessed with terrorism and how it's a threat to the US. In the past 10 years, how many people in the US were killed by terrorists? Probably the same amount that were killed by falling pianos. We spend more money on the military than any one country could ever possible need to and we're still paranoid that, oh dear, a few people might be killed. I'm much more willing to run the risk of being killed by terrorists than I am to allow the PATRIOT Act to exist or Guantanamo Bay or to see this country flush cash down the military toilet as regular folk struggle to make ends meet.

Then please run for president when you turn 35 and dismantle the military and see how that turns out.

The world is full of looney leaders who make even the most "extreme" of our candidates look tame. They do not have any concept of diplomacy and wish to destroy the united states as well as their other enemies.

What the left doesn't understand is that the world has and will always be filled with wackos and evil and not by understanding people who want to get together to sing Cumbya. It took the largest and deadliest war in world history to defeat evil manifested as hitler and nazi Germany. It took over fifty years and many proxy wars but we defeated the soviet union by basically outspending the soviet union to death ( though the liberals will give you varying reasons, I have had the fortune of interviewing several CIA and smaller political leaders during a college project about the cold war and they all say this was the reason why we won). Either way we won because of our military complex.

I voted Parise because we already know what the Supreme Court decision will be

Looks like it was upheld, 5-4.

Looks like I will have to pay more money for my health insurance. Thanks Obama. Can't wait to vote you out in November.

This is why I haven't flown off the handle or even come close to being upset at the devils this series. They really are trying and working their asses off in this and like others have said we were only a couple of bounces and posts away from this series being 3-1 devils.

This team deserves all the abuse they're receiving now from the morons in the stands. When you play with no pride, you deserve ridicule.

5 fukkin powerplays including a 5-on-3 and you can't fukkin score!!?? Bunch of fukkin losers.

Then stop being a fan. Simple as that since you seem to hate them this much.

#1126949 Praise from Kings fan

Posted by DevsMan84 on 01 June 2012 - 06:15 PM

I've always had fun with/love when MTL come and play here because the fans that I've met at games who are/were Habs fans love Marty and always have respect towards the Devils.

There ARE bad apples in every bunch. Yes, even here in NJ. The WORST that I can't stand when they come to play us is the Flyers and Ranger$ fans. I hate those 2 sets of fans with a passion. USUALLY other team's fans I can tolerate.

By and large Montreal fans are the biggest bunch of passive-aggressive a$$holes there is.

#1123855 If we need anymore motivation....

Posted by DevsMan84 on 25 May 2012 - 12:52 PM

Speaking of, an entire fanbase that doesn't come out of the closet until a Rangers-Devils Eastern Conference Final...

I am also wearing today to work my kovy player tee that I have worn a bunch of times before on casual Friday. Today when I was out at lunch at the store I had a bunch of different people tell me the devils suck and whatnot. I never heard a peep when I wore this shirt before but now I hear it today suddenly. If anything, a lot of people who could not care about hockey are suddenly rangers fans and it is mostly because they have new York in their name.

#1122477 Matteau defends his goalie

Posted by DevsMan84 on 22 May 2012 - 08:05 AM

Uhm, how could they not deserve to win when they didn't surrender any goals?

In the league 7 years and on his 5th or 6th Vezina nom. But you are right, only 1 good season. Sather calls Lamoriello and offers Lundqvist for Marty straight up, are you saying Louie turns him down?

Yup and nominations mean sh!t if you don't actually win it. At least Brodeur in his prime had to compete with Roy, Hasek and Belfour. All Henrik has to compete with in his time in the NHL (since 2005) is Jeckyll and Hyde Luongo, basketcase sieve Bryz, overrated Rinne, and Brodeur who is in the twilight of his career and yet still won 2 Vezinas in the 7 years that Henrik has played.

When Lundqvist has won at least half of what Marty has won then we might have an actual conversation.

Doc and Chico both have high pitched voices. Listening to them commentate together was painful sometimes. We need some low end (which is why I was such a big fan of Gary Thorne).

I cannot imagine in what world you think Gary Thorne is a good announcer. I swear if Joe Sakic, Ray Bourque, Patrik Roy or Mario Lemieux ever came to a sudden stop his face would be halfway up their asses.

Doc did have a high pitched voice but he did work on it over the years and it got a lot easier to listen to. You can def hear the difference when you hear him now and from a mid 90's game.

#1102766 The Race For 6th Thread

Posted by DevsMan84 on 29 March 2012 - 10:54 AM

I usually find that those types of people have never put on a pair of skates or picked up a stick (or ball, bat what have you). They just don't see it from another perspective or have the personal experience of participating in what they think they know all about. I see that sort of thing every day on a popular baseball board i belong to. They all try to be Bill James prodigys. While these people can be extemely intelligent and organized, they also tend to be very robotic, stubborn and condescending/rude to anyone who speaks other to them. Then when they are wrong, they are almost bipolar in their reactions. Not sure how much of that pertains to any of the stat people here, but usually they are birds of a flock.

Posted by DevsMan84 on 26 March 2012 - 02:48 PM

I think I mentioned Stefan Matteau on a previous thread a month or 2 ago.

I wish we would take him just to have him score on the Rags in overtime in the playoffs. The arena would collapse under the weight of the huge amount of irony.

#1099096 The Devils struggle with their "brand"

Posted by DevsMan84 on 14 March 2012 - 08:11 AM

Except he and Kovy are rarely marketed. If I'm a casual sports fan in this state or area I barely know who these guys are but a casual sports fan in Maryland or northern Virgina knows who Alex Ovechkin is, maybe even Backstrom and Semin. That's the difference and a problem with the Devils. They don't promote their star players or their team well enough. What happened to the posters at the NJTransit stations or on buses? Billboards?

As for the Blackhawks they have frontrunners(which help fill the seats), but not just because they were Cup contenders. Don't underestimate how much damage Bill Wirtz did to that club and fanbase. They barely missed the playoffs in 2008 but attendance still jumped from 29th in 07 to 19th in 08 to 1st overall in 09.

When you can only get 15,000 to a late season game against the Flyers when you're in the middle of a playoff race on a Sunday with no rain or snow, something is seriously wrong.

This is a problem that has gone on since the Devils moved here. McMullen and Lou have always had the impression that if they promoted their players, they would then become stars and demand big money. They admitted it someplace in an interview long ago. However, they would like for you to believe they do this as a way to put team above player which is total BS.

Look at the player polls that come out every year when they ask "Which team would you like to play for if you had the chance?" Usually it is successful or traditional teams that are ranked high but not the Devils. The Devils are almost certainly never in the top 5 or even top 10.
