Remember it's Lou who made the baffling decision to sign to Goons to play on the 4th line and didn't make any attempt at getting a backup goaltender who isn't on the downside of his career.
I mean Hedberg is good but there's no way we should have a goalie tandem that's the equivalent of the two old guys in the balcony of the Muppet Show.

He can put up all the points he wants, doesn't mean much if Kovy's giving them away and more besides on the defensive end.
This.
Pretty much seems like whenever Kovy is involved in scoring a goal he seems to be also involved in us giving up a goal.

I also would have laughed if you told me in Dec. that they could have been THAT good in the second half.
The reason we turned it around in Dec. is because of Lemaire IMO. He lit a fire under their asses and they got their sense of discipline and work ethic back. I'm not saying DeBoer is Johnny Mac, but he's definitely no Jacques. The purported rumor that he has light practices worries me especially since this current roster has a knack for coming in out of shape and lacking any motivation. DeBoer would be a good coach for a mediocre club, but I don't know about him being coach of a club with tradions of high expectations.

The sky is falling Chicken Little and they only played 1 out of 82 games.

Sounds a lot like last year. It's only game 1, then it's only game 10, then it's only game 20.
#979995 Elias “can deal with it” if he’s last player picked in all-star

This topic subject just screams the fat kid being chosen last in dodge ball.
Patty is a class act and just continues to show it.
That's okay. Like I said yesterday, Patty can walk around with his SC rings to show off in front of the majority of those guys picked as "All-Stars" that don't have rings.
"Oh, you got picked ahead of me in the 'mock' all-star draft? I made a wicked blind pass to Jason Arnott who scored the cup clinching goal in double OT of game 6 of the 2000 Stanley Cup final. But that's hardly as good as getting picked 2nd or 3rd for an All-Star game where fans voted."

I don't think you can.
It's not so much about Kovy, it's that fact that all the Devils players defer to him on the ice and he reinforces this by trying to do everything himself. This is the same problem Atlanta had.
The winning hockey element of the TEAM game suffers.
An individual with all this talent you can either: let him play his own high risk game he can score 40 goals and at the same time allow 70+ goals against.
or you can have him learn your game and he becomes a 25 goal guy with a good +/-. You win, but he is no longer considered a "superstar".
I think we're actually seeing Kovy slowly transition into a hybrid of his talents plus a team player.
Fact of the matter:
Kovy is trying to do everything offensively.
Zubrus can forecheck but his finish is lacking.
David Clarkson needs a hoveround some days.
Rolston would rather see if his shot can break a glass pane.
Marty is older and reacts like two seconds after a goal is scored on him.
Hedberg is considered the younger goalie at 37.
Zajac is lost without Parise
Parise is injured.
Langs phoned it in.
A combination of losing and age has zapped Arnott's morale.
Palmieri looks good(but he still looks like the crying Giants fan)
Zharkov is still snakebitten
White is pretty darn good for a cyclops.
Tallinder keeps hoping Tyler Myers magically appears
Volchenkov has to curb his bread and butter of blocked shots cuz his goalie doesn't like it.
Fayne is making rookie mistakes.
Fraser is a hot head who can't pass out of the zone
Greene switched places with his lesser talented doppleganger.
Salvador can't say anything but "My name is Sal!" at this current point.
Yeah but everything is all Kovy's fault.
