#1323345 2 years - One way contract for Matteau

Posted by nessus on 18 July 2015 - 08:31 AM

If you care enough, look at (the bottom of) page 72 of this: http://www.nhl.com/n...PA_2013_CBA.pdf

If the same is true for players drafted before 2013, it would seem that Matteau is eligible for waivers this year since he played 17 games during that first season.

#1323157 Devils resign eric gelinas to 2 year deal

Posted by nessus on 15 July 2015 - 11:44 AM

Since apparently people can't stay away from what was, at first, a very simple and non-insulting request to use the search function on the site and have turned this into a referendum on the forum:

2ELias26 has 4000+ posts here.  He's not a new poster, otherwise I would've answered his question and requested that in the future he used the search function either to find the proper thread and read up, or find a thread to post in that could answer his question.  Regardless, he hasn't been around as long as many of the posters here, that's true.  And I agree that this forum would not seem very welcoming to an outsider and there aren't very many new posters.  That's unfortunate - although I think the level of discussion has gone up over the years, we've lost a lot of real good posters and they haven't really been replaced by younger posters.  I imagine those people are on Facebook and Twitter, though god knows how they navigate that quagmire.  But the idea that the main board is 'crowded' or needs a premium membership is utterly ridiculous, this forum gets nowhere close to the traffic to demand that sort of thing.   Still, forums have an etiquette associated with them and posters just dumping whatever thought you have into whatever thread you feel like leads to a bad forum.  Someone with 4000+ posts on a board should know better than that, and not get high-handed when given a simple request to be mindful of forum etiquette, but hey, some people take everything personally.

EDIT:  I am not a mod, otherwise I would have done that.  The 'Mod' refers to a chat moderator spot I had once upon a time.  I wish it would be taken away because it gives people the wrong idea.  I cannot delete posts.

Devils fans are more like the team than we thought

#1226990 GDT: Devils @ Ducks 10PM

Super happy with this win. Is this the first Ducks loss at home?

Let's be thankful for this one. This is a game where the Devils got some serious bounces. It's proof that it goes both ways and not just against the Devils.

Imagine some team claims him next time the Devils send him to Albany via waivers

#1187254 2013 NHL Draft

Can someone explain to me the logic behind "a pick today is better than a pick tomorrow"? I simply don't understand.

On paper, he hasn't done much, but I've been impressed with his game. He's been involved in a lot of chances during this terrible streak. I hope he gets re-signed for a while. I'd like to see him as the #2 center on the Devils for years to come. The lack of chemistry with linemates is a big problem, though.

#1118161 MVP of Rounds 1 & 2

Posted by nessus on 09 May 2012 - 10:05 AM

I'm gonna have to go with Andy Greene. I mean, have you SEEN the man's playoff beard? I didn't think he was capable!

(In all seriousness - Kovalchuk/Parise/Zajac - take your pick)

Jokes aside, Greene has been a bit of an unsung hero. Not a lot of points production, but he's been making good decisions and joins the rush when he needs to. He's looked better in these playoffs than he has all season.

It's hard for me to decide who has been best though. It's good to know that nobody is carrying the team on their back. Maybe for that reason, you choose the coaching staff.

#1086363 Stuff Devils Fans Don't Say

Posted by nessus on 29 January 2012 - 11:14 PM

"We're up 5-1 going into the third? Ahhh, we got this!"

"Oh well, we lost. Can't win them all. No big deal, onto the next game..."

Kovalchuk's passing skills? How about the entire team tonight, passing behind each other or to the skates. Thought Kovy had a good game besides that turn over, which was also a nice play by Grabner. Sick of our fans using him as the scapegoat for every game. And that was a real crap pass to Larsson on our first goal, right?

Yeah, he set up both goals, I thought he played an otherwise impressive game on the RW, aside from that turnover.

Quite an unfortunate turnout, but I guess the score could have easily been 4 or 5-2 if it wasn't for Marty. He had a save tonight that looked like the best of the year so far.
