#1259739 Brodeur: Devils have accepted mediocrity

Posted by PWW on 09 April 2014 - 05:51 PM

Just because Marty isn't as athletically gifted as he once was, does not mean his opinion should count for less. Brain trust in the Devils locker room is Elias, Marty, and Jagr to a lesser degree. If all 3 of them feel this way it is a pretty damning assessment.

I'm not saying he's wrong, but he's also a big part of the problem and a big reason we're mediocre and thus probably shouldn't be calling anyone else out in this situation. If Jagr said it, well, I'd allow it because he's played his ass off and given his all.

I've never seen someone fight so vehemently to prove something they don't believe in.

#1256117 Anyone going to STH Open Practice Tomorrow?

Posted by PWW on 26 March 2014 - 06:37 PM

3 pages of complaining. Come on guys, did anyone get some cool photos for those of us who couldn't go?

I took about 40-something photos between practice and meeting players. I was gonna post them but this thread didn't seem like it was about those of us that had a good time so I didn't want to interrupt haha.

#1234310 GDT - 12/23 Devils at Blackhawks

Bottom Line: Marty gets better offensive support, run with Marty.

That's like saying guys hit better for a certain pitcher in baseball. It just doesn't make any sense.

Marty should get a nice long rest after tonight. Absolutely the reason for tonight's loss and him playing over Cory is inexcusable.

Can't imagine how the Devils can't score. I mean, we have Peter Harrold on the PP, you'd think we'd be a scoring machine. I just don't get DeBoer. Team is winning = change the lineup. Team gets shut out = same lineup tomorrow. It's ludicrous.

Yeah I thought all the defencemen were good, especially playing a man down (the results were certainly better than in Minnesota) Zidlicky had a couple moments on the PK where he wiffed at a clearing attempt, but considering he never PKs it was a good job.

Would be nice for us Larsson fans to have Deboer recognize his play, but as long as he continues to play well that's all that matters. Whatever Deboer and staff are doing with him lately seems to be working.

I just think it'd be nice if he at least TRIED to nurture the young guys. I mean, obviously we don't know what he says in the back but you gotta think it would mean a lot more to the young guys to know the coach is noticing and recognizing their play. I mean hell, it's the kid's birthday haha.

#1219898 Devils getting rid of R&R part 2 as their goal song?

Posted by PWW on 25 October 2013 - 10:12 PM

I agree. The atmosphere was night was pretty horrid. I know people want their goal song back but I found it very disrespectful people boo'ing after each goal cause they didn't like the fvcking song. It just rubbed me the wrong way.

I was more annoyed that I felt like I had time traveled back to the Brendan Byrne Arena. I swear, with the music that was played and dead crowd, I was looking around expecting to see mullets as far as the eye could see, or at least some 80's teased hair. It was borderline depressing.

#1219872 Devils getting rid of R&R part 2 as their goal song?

I just want to say that I don't even care about RRP2 at this point. I just want the building to rock like it did the past few years. Whatever that takes (within reason), I'm all for it. Last night sucked. It legitimately just wasn't fun in any way. It truly felt like I was back at CAA. This used to not matter as much to me a few years ago, but after experiencing such awesome crowds for the past couple of years, I'd really hate to see that go away. The atmosphere that was built was truly the thing that bumped me up from going to a few games a year to leaping headfirst into getting season tickets. It'd be really tough to go back now after seeing how loud and exciting it can be in that building.

Did you watch the game tonight? Did teddy not create 2 of the best chances the devils had? JJ isnt close to as offensively skilled as teddy, thats become evident. So you want jj in there for what, defense? This team needs scoring chances and goals a lot more than a below average defensive foward. Clocking out on this now. This debate got as far as it usually does. Nowhere. Goodnight buddy.

Well if it's gonna be that way...

#1217880 The Pete Deboer Thread

Posted by PWW on 18 October 2013 - 08:00 PM

Maybe Larsson and Fayne have bad attitudes.

I'd have a bad attitude if I had to watch a fringe NHLer (and I think I'm being nice by saying that) and a traffic cone on a nightly basis while I sat in the press box.
