I agree. The atmosphere was night was pretty horrid. I know people want their goal song back but I found it very disrespectful people boo'ing after each goal cause they didn't like the fvcking song. It just rubbed me the wrong way.
I was more annoyed that I felt like I had time traveled back to the Brendan Byrne Arena. I swear, with the music that was played and dead crowd, I was looking around expecting to see mullets as far as the eye could see, or at least some 80's teased hair. It was borderline depressing.
I just want to say that I don't even care about RRP2 at this point. I just want the building to rock like it did the past few years. Whatever that takes (within reason), I'm all for it. Last night sucked. It legitimately just wasn't fun in any way. It truly felt like I was back at CAA. This used to not matter as much to me a few years ago, but after experiencing such awesome crowds for the past couple of years, I'd really hate to see that go away. The atmosphere that was built was truly the thing that bumped me up from going to a few games a year to leaping headfirst into getting season tickets. It'd be really tough to go back now after seeing how loud and exciting it can be in that building.
Did you watch the game tonight? Did teddy not create 2 of the best chances the devils had? JJ isnt close to as offensively skilled as teddy, thats become evident. So you want jj in there for what, defense? This team needs scoring chances and goals a lot more than a below average defensive foward. Clocking out on this now. This debate got as far as it usually does. Nowhere. Goodnight buddy.
Hes the only one thats got the balls to scrap in front of the net and play an all around physical game. Hes one of the only guys whos playing respectable hockey right now. Hes an invaluable asset to the team.
I'm surprised one of the Rangers goons didn't line him up at some point after that 4th goal because although that goal was sick, it was showboating at its best. You best believe that other teams have taken notice and this guy is gonna get pummeled at some point. I love the skill, but at 7-2, rubbing it in your opponent's faces is hardly classy...(unless its the Rangers).
Disagree to the fullest extent. Here's the way I feel about "running up the score" in pro sports. You don't like it? Stop it. It's not like he was doing this to a pee-wee team, it was to a team that many predicted to be Cup contenders this year, a PRO team. And they just get manhandled by a kid.
My main issue with this is that we were a team last year that struggled to score goals and are in general a team that needs to score goals and we have lost two of our biggest goal-scorers the last two years and yet Clowe scored 3 goals in 40 games last season. He did underachive but this is a $5 million a year question mark. I would almost rather give Clarkie the 7 yr Toronto contract at the slightly higher cap hit and keep his 20-25 goals, almost.
I think Clowe is less of a question mark than Clarkson. He has been pretty consistent with his goal production over the last 5 years until last year. Clarkson is banking off one great year and a good 14 game stretch. Let's not forget he had 8 points over the final 34 games last season.
