Just saw that Buff GM was disappointed for the Buff fans. Yeah, the same fans that cheered at home games when the other team scored? A little cruel justice for those fans.

I loved Tim Murray's comments: he is raw, somewhat unfiltered and doesn't mince words.

I do think the Sabres are thrilled to get Eichel, but hey who doesn't want to finish #1 was his argument which I like.

He is very upset with the process and said he would feel the same if the Sabres were the best team in the league. He voted against the lottery changes.

Was irritated that he had to drive to Toronto when he said he could just just been called with the result. I love the fact Murray probably ruffles Bettman's feathers, which is always a good thing.

Buffalo won't say it but they tanked to get Eichel, McDavid would have been a bonus.

+10000

That was my logic from the word go. Sure I would have loved to finish 1st, after 2 years of this and hoping to get McDavid. But Uncle Gary Bettman needed to change those lottery percentages again. I still say this: if NY, LA and Chicago were easily projected to finish in the bottom, I would bet a ton of $ those odds NEVER get changed for this season.

But moving forward, Im pumped. Eichel will make Sabres fans forget about all this quick. Enter Evander Kane, an owner who is aggressive and will spend when needed.

This division is getting more and more interesting by the day!

Oh, I agree for sure. Buffalo is going to be stacked in the near future. Eichel, Reinhart, Ristolainen, E. Kane, Girgensons and a glut of other young talent. Sabres fans definitely deserve a cup and I think Tim Murray is sharp enough to make it happen. The Miller and Myers trades were fantastic

Much appreciated!

As for the Devils too I think this was needed...New Jersey has a good base in some respects: A #1 goalie, some really good defensive prospects. Its time for the Devils to add a forward to that mix.  And they have a decent shot of winning this lottery

The crazy thing about Myers is the Sabres became better after that trade, that almost hurt the tank's chances!

Buffalo had a plan to 'tank' for over 2 years now: Signing the likes of a Ville Leino and hanging around as a 9 or 10 seed with just a goalie wasn't going to get it done. So the Sabres as an organization decided to tear it down and start over. Something I have wanted from the Sabres now for decades. FINALLY they got it right.

Regardless of the lottery result Saturday: Mission accomplished. I am completely convinced this #1 overall pick has been earmarked for Toronto as per Bettman's desires (changing the percentage this year 'all of the sudden') he knows Toronto can't get out of its own way. So here comes the hookup. And that's fine with me. I will gladly take Jack Eichel as the consolation.

About Nolan: No ill will towards him, not much he could have done. The reason he was fired was because of reports of Nolan butting heads with Tim Murray, the GM who did not hire Nolan in the first place (Pat LaFontaine did that and left quick) I wish Ted well. But as most know if a coach clashes with a GM it usually ends badly for the coach. Nolan needs to learn this going forward. The coaching circle is a cruel business sometimes, and Ted got the axe. But he will land somewhere in some capacity.

Buffalo needs a progressive thinking, offensive minded coach that can maximize Jack Eichel, Evander Kane and some of the other skilled forwards and defenseman that are on the way for the Sabres. Pegula will pay for a coach.

This should be the start of a VERY fun ride.
