We don't run a system that is conducive to his style of play. He is worse than Tedenby in the defensive zone. While he is skilled offensively, he would never work here. No way I trade any of our top assets (Larsson, Gelinas or Merrill) for him.
We turned Kovalchuk into the league's best PKer and a responsible player in the defensive end. Defense can be taught, offense is much more challenging.
