#1265071 Confronting the Nightmare - UPDATE: NIGHTMARE OVER, KINGS WIN!

Posted by RowdyFan42 on 21 May 2014 - 01:07 AM

I've seen a few people really dreading the Kings in the Final. Any specific reason other than they are the team that beat the Devils in the Cup Finals?

For me, that's pretty much it.  There's still some lingering bitterness and resentment over the fact that the Devils couldn't get it done, and since the Kings happened to be their opponent, they get the grief.   TBH, if it hadn't been the Kings that beat them, I wouldn't have as much of a problem with the prospect of them winning the Cup this year.

Just because someone says eww or gross doesnt mean theyre being childish, theyre just physically sick by picturing sean avery and andy cohen going at it. As any normal straight person would be in my mind.

Actually, that couldn't be any MORE childish.  If the first -- or only -- thing you think of when the topic of gay men comes up is "two dudes going at it", THAT is childish.  Get your mind out of the damn gutter.  Do you automatically think of sex when somebody mentions lesbians or even straight couples?  And even if you don't think that said reaction is childish, it definitely IS childish to then announce that reaction to the world.

#1204860 Jagr Signs 1 Year Deal With Devils

I put no stock into anything Kenneth says.

Perhaps you'd feel differently if Kenneth could finally, after all these years, answer one simple question:  What is the frequency?

(Right.  I'll show myself out.  :()

#1198378 Devils trade #9 pick in 2013 Draft to Vancouver for Cory Schneider

Posted by RowdyFan42 on 30 June 2013 - 09:20 PM

It's a valid thing to worry about, how is it stupid? Because we retain our UFA talent so well in the past? Parise, gionta, rafalski, holik, gomez....And then you say that people are "fvcking stupid" for thinking that. Go sit in a corner somewhere will you.

There's a difference between being worried about it and being absolutely convinced that it's a foregone conclusion.

Yet more evidence that PK is very likely a time traveller from the 1800s. :D

at some point you have to sit back and say to yourself, "Zach is not a Devil anymore. Zach is a Minnesota Wild. He was flirting with Suter during the season, inappropriately, and in the end said fvck you to the Devils." He is an opposing player now, trying to make the Devils lose. You have to accept this and stop pretending to be above it.

But he DIDN'T say "fvck you" to the Devils. If anything, it was more like "so long and thanks for all the fish". Why does everything have to be "you're either with us or against us"?

#1140511 ‏Zach Parise has agreed to terms with the Minnesota Wild

Posted by RowdyFan42 on 05 July 2012 - 12:09 AM

Listened to interviews with LeBrun, Dreger, and Arnott today. Here are some interesting tidbits from them:

- Suter told teams that he wanted to be on his farm July 1st and if any team came up there, they would be out of the running. He eventually met with Detroit the next day because he was very interested.

- While Parise was camped out in his Toronto office, the only team that ever got a face-to-face meeting was Lou Lamoriello the days before free agency.

- Philly offered both players well over $100 million for both players. And while it seems that the Flyers offered both the most, it never seemed like they had a chance at either.

- Chicago was in heavy for Parise and Suter, but Suter had no interest at all, and Parise passed

- Ken Holland told Pierre LeBrun that he would have matched Minny for Suter, if given the chance. They desperately wanted Suter.

- Like everyone has said, Suter and Parise only started talking about this on the evening of July 2nd. There might have been discussions before in the year, but this only got serious after two days of hearing offers. This was not something they started free agency really thinking about or talking to teams about possibly doing.

- Pittsburgh was 100% told they were out last night.

- Parise was offered possibly more by Minny, but it was important to him that he and Suter had identical deals.

- Unlike Lou, David Poile felt totally blindsided. He never thought Suter would go anywhere else. He even took a big run at Parise too. Was devastated that Suter never gave him the opportunity to match because he probably would. There is a general feeling that Weber will be gone now too. This isn't about a team not being able to afford their stars. They just want to go elsewhere. Poile won't make the same mistake again, and expect Weber to be dealt sometime during the year like Kovalchuk was if a deal can't be reached.

- In the end, these two guys wanted to go home to Minny and play together. Even though they got huge deals there, this money would have come from anywhere and some of the best teams in the league were after both.

- The bonuses were not something that was a must and not something they asked each team. Seemed like something Minny was interested in doing to entice both players.

- As for collusion: None of the insiders seem to really care. Sighted Jordan Staal and Eric talking. Wondering when Marc joins them. It's not against CBA rules so no big deal. "Something that has always gone and always will."

Now, see, there you go bringing facts and a voice of reason into the discussion. Don't you know that's not allowed in this thread? ;)

Flyers have fans, devils dont.

Yeah, we're all just a figment of your imagination. And those people filling up The Rock dressed in Devils jerseys? They're Rangers fans in disguise. Congratulations, you figured it all out. :boogie:

Tell ya what, I'll see what I can do. Not making any promises, though.

EDIT: DM did say he'd look into a "work-safe" skin, maybe he can dig up something that looks like the old-old red skin for that.
