#1282094 Tough story on Michael Ryder's brother's mental issues

Posted by Jerrydevil on 14 October 2014 - 10:03 AM

My father overcame a bout with severe depression in the late 1980s to live a good, productive life. I'm thankful, not everyone beats it.

#1266290 Confronting the Nightmare - UPDATE: NIGHTMARE OVER, KINGS WIN!

Posted by Jerrydevil on 31 May 2014 - 10:37 AM

If this team weren't the Rangers, they'd be likeable. It's a team that's not here on superior talent, that's for sure. You can't often say that a Ranger team is greater than the sum of its parts. This one is. I think they'll be champions.

Resume gnashing of teeth and rending of garments. :D

#1155164 Presidential Election Poll

Posted by Jerrydevil on 24 October 2012 - 12:21 PM

Well, that was about as decisive a win for Obama as the first debate was for Romney. Romney basically commended the Obama administration for their work during his term and sounded pretty desperate in the final statement. "This nation is the hope of the earth"....a little over the top Mitt

He'll be so pleased that he "won" the third debate when he gets creamed on Election Day.

#1120164 The Devils should just forfeit the rest of the series...

Posted by Jerrydevil on 15 May 2012 - 11:11 AM

Am I the only one that's legit worried? :(

For me, there's a seed of doubt because of Lundqvist. Otherwise, I believe we're going to shove it in their face.

#1109580 I am sorry, I can't believe this crap

My wish is that we won't see a thread later tonight titled "We should have started Hedberg."

I don't think it's unreasonable to want Brodeur to sit for Game 4. He is not a sacred cow anymore, and shouldn't be treated as such.

#1069696 The Kovy Conundrum

Posted by Jerrydevil on 04 December 2011 - 11:25 AM

The +/- argument is one that never made sense to me. He's been the best player on terrible teams, of course he's going to have a ton of ice time. Sure he might have some bad turnovers, but the over whelming majority probably has a lot to do with the rest of the sucky teams.

Except that Marian Hossa didn't put up the minuses like Kovalchuk did. Blame the player, too.

He can put up all the points he wants, doesn't mean much if Kovy's giving them away and more besides on the defensive end.

That's his career in a nutshell.

#1068652 GDT: Devils @ Colorado

Posted by Jerrydevil on 30 November 2011 - 11:55 PM

I will agree with you only when the other team starts jugling the puck on their sticks while the devils players are just haplessly standing around watching.

Krusty : "oh come on!! He is just spinning the ball on his finger!!! Just grab it!!"

Great Simpsons reference! LOL!

#987234 Raising No. 27

Posted by Jerrydevil on 04 February 2011 - 08:07 PM

Niedermayer spent many great years here.

The years were great. Too bad he wasn't until 10 years into his career. I don't want it to seem like I'm getting on the guy for being a very good player, but we are talking about a number retirement.

It's sad how many people are still bitter about him taking less money to play with his brother.

I'm not bitter. I said I didn't care what the Devils did with Mike Mottau's number.

#986975 Raising No. 27

Posted by Jerrydevil on 04 February 2011 - 11:00 AM

As recently as the beginning of this season, I wasn't ready to see No. 27 go up. Now I'm ready. He was a supremely-talented player who consistently gave us "How the hell did he do that?" moments. He was a winner and was a huge part of this team's success for a long time. It's not like he badmouthed the organization or pissed on the fans. He always played hard (though he was so good that it looked effortless) and, from everything I saw and heard, spoke fondly of the Devils.

Time to let the insignificant stuff go and remember the good times, IMO.

I'm just not moved by it. Indifference reigns.

I certainly won't be buying tickets to see it.

Is David Phelps the son of Ken Phelps?

"But my baseball people loved Ken Phelps' bat. They kept telling me, 'Ken Phelps, Ken Phelps!'"

#978672 Martin Not Setting the World on Fire

Posted by Jerrydevil on 09 January 2011 - 06:15 PM

+1

If Martin were still here he would be the only defensemen that can get the puck out of our zone.

$5 million was awful steep though, wasn't it?
