#1303111 Hasan's Brodeur Post

Posted by Jerrydevil on 02 February 2015 - 10:27 PM

I was at the playoff game against Montreal when he scored a goal, and I was at the game in Montreal when Brodeur tied Roy for career wins. Great personal memories.

Another one that sticks out for me is when Marty tried to calm the crowd when we were booing the selection of Giguere as the Conn Smythe Trophy winner. He pretended to put the Cup over his head, indicating that the best trophy was yet to come, and it was ours.

Read up on the National Front, and tell me the French are not allowed to speak out or an insult an ethnic group or religion. Their whole platform is built on such political tactics.

Little background info

What the Anti-Defamation League calls "right-wing extremism" and "bigotry," I call a love for and loyalty to the traditional French people. The ADL has its point of view, others have theirs. Jean-Marie Le Pen has broken hate speech laws in the past. I don't think he has done jail time but I believe he has been fined. Another National Front politician, Anne Sophie Leclere, did land in jail for posting a photo of a black official next to a monkey. That was not a very nice thing to do, and it was politically stupid. It achieves nothing and gives your enemies an opening to attack you.

Marine Le Pen, on the other hand, is much more measured. She knows how important it is not to give your enemies the ammunition to destroy you. Note that she calls the National Front pro-French, not anti-Islamic. It's a winning strategy, I believe.

You have a similar mindset as the terrorists

Exactly! And the reason for that is because I don't believe that peace, love and acceptance will solve the problem.

The West has brought this on itself by meddling in Arab countries' affairs (led by the U.S., of course) and by ultra-liberal immigration policies that not only let enemies into their countries but threaten demographic disaster to boot. So much damage has been done, and it won't be undone peacefully if it is to ever be undone at all. There will be blood.

Happy New Year, everyone!

#1282094 Tough story on Michael Ryder's brother's mental issues

My father overcame a bout with severe depression in the late 1980s to live a good, productive life. I'm thankful, not everyone beats it.

#1266290 Confronting the Nightmare - UPDATE: NIGHTMARE OVER, KINGS WIN!

Posted by Jerrydevil on 31 May 2014 - 10:37 AM

If this team weren't the Rangers, they'd be likeable. It's a team that's not here on superior talent, that's for sure. You can't often say that a Ranger team is greater than the sum of its parts. This one is. I think they'll be champions.

Resume gnashing of teeth and rending of garments. :D

#1155164 Presidential Election Poll

Posted by Jerrydevil on 24 October 2012 - 12:21 PM

Well, that was about as decisive a win for Obama as the first debate was for Romney. Romney basically commended the Obama administration for their work during his term and sounded pretty desperate in the final statement. "This nation is the hope of the earth"....a little over the top Mitt

He'll be so pleased that he "won" the third debate when he gets creamed on Election Day.

Am I the only one that's legit worried? :(

For me, there's a seed of doubt because of Lundqvist. Otherwise, I believe we're going to shove it in their face.

#1109580 I am sorry, I can't believe this crap

My wish is that we won't see a thread later tonight titled "We should have started Hedberg."

I don't think it's unreasonable to want Brodeur to sit for Game 4. He is not a sacred cow anymore, and shouldn't be treated as such.

#1069696 The Kovy Conundrum

Posted by Jerrydevil on 04 December 2011 - 11:25 AM

The +/- argument is one that never made sense to me. He's been the best player on terrible teams, of course he's going to have a ton of ice time. Sure he might have some bad turnovers, but the over whelming majority probably has a lot to do with the rest of the sucky teams.

Except that Marian Hossa didn't put up the minuses like Kovalchuk did. Blame the player, too.

He can put up all the points he wants, doesn't mean much if Kovy's giving them away and more besides on the defensive end.

That's his career in a nutshell.

I will agree with you only when the other team starts jugling the puck on their sticks while the devils players are just haplessly standing around watching.

Krusty : "oh come on!! He is just spinning the ball on his finger!!! Just grab it!!"

Great Simpsons reference! LOL!

Niedermayer spent many great years here.

The years were great. Too bad he wasn't until 10 years into his career. I don't want it to seem like I'm getting on the guy for being a very good player, but we are talking about a number retirement.
