#1253752 GDT: Bruins @Devils 18th March 2014

Posted by TheRedStorm on 18 March 2014 - 07:11 PM

This is ridiculous. We should not be down to these guys. I don't care how many points they have or who their first line is

LOL, what? This is a team that is a good bet to be playing for the Cup. They've won 9 straight. It's men vs boys.

Put a camera on The Gorilla. See if they can get the tears from trying to hold back the sh!t-eating grin on his face.

Jagr hits the net on that backhand, it's still 1-0. But, that's how it goes for mediocre teams like the Devils.

#1251044 We now have the 30th pick

Posted by TheRedStorm on 07 March 2014 - 03:33 PM

We know you don't like Lou, but you can't pretend the owners did this on their own and that it had nothing to do with him. The league wanting to not punish new owners makes sense, but Lou clearly had a big hand in this.

No one is pretending that Lou didn't have anything to do with it, but the owners were the ones who initiated it and followed it through. I don't know what the problem is with giving them credit where credit is due.

You don't think it's a bit of a stretch trying to connect those 2 things just for the sake of being inflammatory?

Not at all. There's nothing inflammatory about it unless someone makes it as such. It's an observation, pure and simple. And it's valid.

“There’s no question we’re pleased with the decision by the league,” :Lamoriello said. “The appeal for reconsideration was made by new ownership and there was a hearing and the decision was made today.” - See more at: http://blogs.northje...h.YMlMAmpc.dpuf

So, people can go batsh!t crazy towards the new ownership over the song/chant but i don't see anyone giving Harris and Blitzer any sort of credit at all for doing this and taking the initiative. So much for they don't care.

#1250512 My thoughts on Ruutu trade

Of course he didn't do anything wrong - I'm just trying to help a new member get accustomed to the policies of the board.  There's no 'intimidation' here, it's a general policy to not create new threads when one already exists about a certain topic just so things don't get cluttered.  Just giving him a heads up for future reference.

Why must EVERYTHING be a confrontation with you?  It's like you come on here looking for fights..

There's no confrontation here. You went looking to play junior moderator and i said to Sullivan don't let these guys intimidate you. If you can find the confrontation there, feel free to point it out.

.

There is no good ending to this saga folks...

There was never going to be one. You've got an big ego involved here and a coach and GM who can't/won't manage it properly.

#1248607 GDT - 3/2/14 @ 3:00pm: Sharks vs Devils

Posted by TheRedStorm on 02 March 2014 - 05:03 PM

game over

unfortunate, and pretty much the theme of most of our season. 4 missed glorious chances by us, bang bang goal by our opponent

That's why the Sharks are a Cup contender and the Devils are on the borderline of being sellers this week.

No you didn't. Huge difference between blaming and saying someone is part of the problem. HUGE difference.

Yes, i did, Mike. now, you're pulling the selective memory card just like you contradict, split hairs and use semantics. I can see why you were up to 37,000 posts on HF.

I'm not going back through your daily post-a-thons in every thread and find where i did at least three times minimum. DM, 118 and CR can verify it for me.

I'm not on either side here, but I can't honestly see how you find this to be unreasonable. I'm not entirely sure you have a firm grasp on the term "semantics".

I'm not entirely sure you understand Mike Brown.

This is what we're talking about.  Stop constantly splitting hairs.

It's ridiculous.

Well the only logical explanation is bad luck or something unforeseen.  In other words, there is no logical explanation at all.  And the goaltending has been part of the problem, and even you have criticized Schneider for it.

I've criticized CS because he hasn't been good at one on one, period. He also hasn't had any goal support in the SO, either, just like Brodeur. As a goaltender, who the hell can win a SO when your team scores ONE goal the whole season?

You're doing it again, Mike. You say goaltending is a problem, then say you aren't actually blaming the goaltenders, then you go back to saying the goaltending is part of the problem. I'm being nice here, but this is why members like CR and DM84 get frustrated. This isn't about someone misunderstanding you.

#1245017 Discuss - Most Likely Trade Deadline Targets

Posted by TheRedStorm on 09 February 2014 - 07:25 PM

The thing about going on a tear is that nobody ever sees it coming.

We also won't get much of anything for the guys we have if we do sell.  This year's draft is considered one of the weakest in a long time.  Any first round pick we do trade for is gonna be a late first.  I don't think any of our players would fetch a first.  Lou really has nothing to lose by buying this season.  So why not give it a shot?

You're painfully and annoyingly optimistic. On top of that you're not realistic.

You have to deal in the reality of what this team is. A team that can not score. On top of that, you have to remember that in order to improve and climb the standings, they have to sustain what they already have going for them. A top ranked PK, a 42 year old on a one year deal who can run out of gas any minute now and Vezina-level goaltending that has to stay Vezina level with no margin for error. You know they're going to have to win a SO along the way, too. They also have to leapfrog over at least a half dozen teams.

You can look at it and say that as bad as they've been offensively they have no where to go but up, but after this many games it's clear it's a problem. It was a problem 20 games ago. I mean they are one 42 year old on a one year deal away from being worse if that's possible,.

That is why it is important to consider trading off and getting assets back to start. You're not going to cure all the ills this trade deadline but it's a start they have to consider making. Get some assets back, go into the Summer and continue from there. This team is in an ideal position to deal to teams in a playoff spot or have eyes on a deep run. The players we vilify here can be valuable depth pieces in different roles. Lamoriello is going to get plenty of calls leading up to the deadline. It might not be a stretch to say, but don't you think the Devils can help influence that logjam of top teams in the West with a shrewd and beneficial deal?

#1244689 Discuss - Most Likely Trade Deadline Targets

Posted by TheRedStorm on 08 February 2014 - 01:50 AM

The Islanders.  The Panthers.  Toronto traded for a guy who they thought could be a starting goalie, so maybe throw them into the mix.

The idea that this deal 'fell into Lou's lap' is ridiculous - you know how I know it's ridiculous?  I don't remember reading ANYONE thinking this was a possibility.  It's an enormous trade - both what it suggested about Lou's faith in the team in the future (high) and what he felt about Brodeur (not high).

He wasn't going to the Oilers under any circumstances. Not to the Islanders. Same with the Panthers. If those teams seriously wanted CS they had more assets in which to deal from. Florida had the 2nd overall draft pick. Toronto traded for Bernier when Luongo was the frontrunner to be traded, albeit a week or so before CS was the one shipped out. Who knows? Maybe Toronto preferred Bernier over CS? Why didn't the Flyers deal for him while we're at it?

Because you don't read about it on the internet before it happens, it's ridiculous? You don't remember reading about it for two very possible reasons. 1) Luongo was the one clearly on the move by June and the focus was on him. 2) You know Lamoriello. We all do. None of Lou's business ever reaches the media. But, besides all that, if Luongo had one foot already out the door, why would CS be mentioned at all going anywhere by anyone who knows anything, let alone to the Devils?

Look, no one is saying this trade wasn't a coup, wasn't enormous and wasn't a steal. This trade was like Christmas morning. Lou isn't the only GM, HOF or not, that has a player fall into his lap for any number of reasons.
