#1252612 Check out what the Devils front office just sent me along with my play

Posted by MadDog2020 on 13 March 2014 - 07:19 PM

I just became a season ticket holder yesterday. This certainly puts a damper on my excitement.

You're actually a season ticket renter, as the tickets aren't yours to do with what you please, apparently.

#1251498 Game in Philly

Posted by MadDog2020 on 08 March 2014 - 10:30 PM

So last time I was in Philly I had a guy threaten to pi$& on my leg in the bathroom. I haven't been back since. My buddy dates a girl who is like the Deb Placey to the flyers. She's giving me "fancy pants" seats so that won't happen again? Should I go and if I do should I wear my Elias jersey !?!?!

Go. Wear your Elias jersey. Bring a sign that says 'Bobby Clarke is a f*ggot'. And if a loser Phailures fan threatens to piss on your leg in the bathroom again, wait until he turns around... Then piss on his back. :P

#1250717 We now have the 30th pick

Posted by MadDog2020 on 06 March 2014 - 03:43 PM

@DarrenDreger: Needless to say, NHL teams are not happy with the leagues decision to let the Devils off the hook.

Haha, the other 29 teams can eat a dick.

#1249211 The Official 2014 Trade Deadline Thread

Posted by MadDog2020 on 04 March 2014 - 03:39 PM

Gaborik to NJ is plausible, especially since he probably won't re-sign with CBJ and is on the decline. Salvador or Volchenkov going the other way make sense too.

However, I'm affraid that Gaborik doesn't answer our needs. He was a dud a few years ago in the playoffs with the Ranjerks.

If it means getting rid of Salvador, I'll take my chances.

My prediction: Lou doesn't make a single trade. He claims Gomez off waivers. Fin.

#1249126 [Now Dead]Devils, Wild Agree To Deal That Would Send Brodeur To Wild

Lou probably nixed the deal after the leak. Wouldn't shock me.

#1247285 RUMOR: Callahan to be traded as per Boomer Esiason

Posted by MadDog2020 on 24 February 2014 - 07:51 PM

How can we move a player that doesn't move?

I'll help him move. Hell, if we could trade Sal, I'd help him pack up his sh!t, and I'd drive him to where ever we send him. Not just the airport- that's right, I'll drive Bryce Salvador all the way to Edmonton if that's where he goes. I'll drive him to Vancouver. I will drive Bryce Salvador anywhere the fvck in North America he wants if it means he gets the fvck off the Devils. And I'll do it with a giant fvcking smile on my face.

Goalie Maxime Clermont goes from Elmira to Florida (ECHL) with recall to Albany (AHL) in between for technical reasons

Boomer is pretty well-connected, I could see him getting the heads up on a Ranger trade from someone for sure. There's definitely smoke, with Brooks now chiming in on the matter.

#1246696 All purpose Olympics thread

Posted by MadDog2020 on 20 February 2014 - 04:24 PM

but just to be clear... a team blow a 2-0 lead with 3 min left in a game but they lost because of the refs making a "questionable call" later in OT...

I'm sure not one Canadian would bitch if the shoe was on the other foot and the roles were reversed here. Everyone up there would've been cool with it. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Let's see what happens tomorrow in the game that really matters.

#1246504 Since It Would Be A Pretty Epic / Historical Event in Devils History..

Posted by MadDog2020 on 19 February 2014 - 05:52 PM

@TGfireandice: Martin Brodeur said at this point he doesn't anticipate going to management to talk about a trade. Said he'd have to be asked to consider it

@TGfireandice: Brodeur said his preference is to stay in NJ and play. Hasn't talked to management or coaches about his situation.

Looks like Marty may be sticking around after all. I'm happy to hear that.

#1246500 Has anybody been to the Izod Center lately?

Posted by MadDog2020 on 19 February 2014 - 05:38 PM

I remember that you could actually see the traffic speeding along route 3 in between the cracks in the floorboards. How that thing passed safety inspection in the first place is beyond me.

Yeah I remember that too. Its a miracle it never collapsed.

That's rte 120 actually, but yeah, the original bridge was very scary to me. I remember seeing the cars whizzing by below too.

And there was always a guy selling pretzels just outside that bridge on the Giants Stadium side after the game was over. Can't imagine that he could've sold very many of them.

Devils lost their first game at the Rock to the Senators 4-1 (after a nine-game road trip to start the season). I remember the 6-1 beatdown...that was their second game there.

The Wilpons of course screwed up their building, thinking that somehow Mets fans would be more interested in going to a building that seemed to pay more homage to the Brooklyn Dodgers than to the team that actually played there. They've since taken some positive steps to correct, but that misstep left a bad taste in Met fans' mouths that still lingers even now. You are right, I think it's going to take some serious winning to wash that out.

I thought I would feel much more nostalgia than I did. I think some of it was stripped away by the mess that sprouted up around it...I remember tailgating in the parking lot back in the day during playoff games.

BBA was heavily criticized for having just the one concourse (terrible idea), and yeah, that had a way of crowding up in a hurry between periods and after games for sure. I never really minded CAA overall when I was watching games there...it served its purpose well, even if it lacked personality.

Great point CR- Xanadu and the parking garage kind of took away that unique feel the CAA had, outside anyway. Tailgating before playoff games, that big parking lot... It kind of went away a little at the end there. And I think by the time the Devils moved, everyone had had it with the CAA (I know I did). The single concourse, sh!tty food, rude ushers- I couldn't wait for the Rock to open. (Speaking of the single concourse- I remember going to Devils games as a kid in the 80's when they allowed smoking in the building. The concourse was like a giant ash tray). But looking back now, I kind of miss it. I'd never want the Devils to move back or anything, but I look back and smile now at some of the little things that annoyed me about the old barn. I guess time does that. Overall- I've had some of the best memories of my life in that arena (and not just Devils games, but Nets games as a kid and some great concerts as well). So while it may be a dump, it was OUR dump. And it will always hold a very special place in my heart.
