#1323881 Lou is New Toronto GM

Posted by Mitico12 on 23 July 2015 - 12:23 PM

This is a classic sign of a man who was "ousted symbolically" and "downgraded" to a lesser position on his own turf and him getting revenge by feeling "wanted" somewhere else and uprooting and going that direction.

It's funny that Lou didn't do what he kinda asked Marty to do...go off into the sunset on top.  Instead, he is still not calling it quits and this can taint his legacy much like Marty's curtain call was kinda tainted...

#1315710 Lamoriello Contnues to do Things His Own Way

Posted by Mitico12 on 05 May 2015 - 12:49 PM

Discipline, if done in the right doses, can be a huge benefit to any team.  It's no surprise that a team like the New England Patriots, under the tutelage of Bill Belichick, have 4 superbowls in the bag, and two almost superbowls to add to that (Let's Go Giants!).

Belichick has a team-first attitude.  Says very little in press conferences, and ensures his players do the same.

In an NFL that is riddled with the most narcissist, self-endearing, off-the-hip player base in professional sports, Belichick's philosophy has yielded great results.

It helps that he has a player like Brady, who much like Brodeur, is built similarly.  Not much expectation in either Brady or Broduer at the start of their careers, but in the end, are/were instrumental in working with men like Belichick and Lamoriello because of their charisma and loyalty to the men they served and to the goal of winning.

Lamoriello's style will be missed.  I sure as heck will miss it.  Because his style, single handedly, may have won us a few cups - not because of the personnel we had, but in how he protected his players and ensured no one would mess with his "family"...

Thanks for everything Lou.  You'll be missed.  Good luck Mr. Shero!

#1308221 Devils Trade Deadline Thread

Posted by Mitico12 on 02 March 2015 - 03:44 PM

Beyond the deadline, the Devils should waive Ryder and Havlat and call it a day.

Why couldn't we just tank for McDavid or Eichel...WHY!WHY!WHY!!!!

#1296068 We aren't getting McDavid or Eichel, it's time to realize this

Posted by Mitico12 on 18 December 2014 - 02:13 PM

The league doesn't favor anyone in the lottery.  They get an auditing firm like KPMG to monitor the results.  Firms like that do not risk their reputations in order to facilitate a pro hocky league conspiracy.

I dunno, Pittsburgh's "luck in the lottery" with Crosby kind of has me doubting the whole process...

#1295629 What would you trade for Taylor Hall?

Posted by Mitico12 on 16 December 2014 - 04:46 PM

Saw this coming a mile away after we played lights out against Chicago. This fanbase doesn't surprise me anymore.

:doh1:  :doh1:  :doh1:  :doh1:

My man, I have been watching and playing hockey for about a good 27 years of my life, so let's say that I think I have a good eye for what I wrote.   I wrote the original comment about entertaining trading Schneider so I will answer your skepticism.

With regards to Kinkaid, let's just say that we don't know the "intangibles" regarding a long term career and his potential to be a game changer under pressure.  After all, he hasn't played more than 4 full NHL games in his career.  So, comparing this with Schneider, surely, Schneider is the clear winner.  Especially because he helped get the C'Nucks to the NHL final a few years ago against Boston.

Speaking, however, from a technical standpoint, I think that Kinkaid demostrates a lot of technical ability and focus.  He has great agility and hasn't clonked out in the two starts he has had this year.

My huntch is, that Schneider isn't a "game changing" goalie.  He doesn't have the ability to get into other team's heads and he let's up some crazy rebounds and is often out of position.  His technical savy is not one of a top 5 goalie.  Sorry, but I said it.

Schneider has lost us more games than he has stolen for us, so I don't know if you don't take a chance to get as much return for his value now before it's too late.

Kinkaid may very well be a gamble, but he has shown hard evidence that he has come ready to play, and if I can get a Taylor Hall or Ryan Nugent-Hopkins piece in return for Schneider, it may be a gamble well worth the risk.

#1292176 Gomez Has Arrived

Posted by Mitico12 on 01 December 2014 - 01:09 PM

Lou took Cyber Monday literally and went out and signed a discount center and half the price...

Oh Boy...what was worse, the Giants debacle in Jacksonville or us fielding a 2006 contender for the 2014-2015 season?  LOL...oh my goodness....

#1266190 Confronting the Nightmare - UPDATE: NIGHTMARE OVER, KINGS WIN!

Posted by Mitico12 on 30 May 2014 - 12:48 PM

All I say is, whatever the outcome of the SCF, that us Devils fans shut our mouths and take it like men and worry about our own house.  No need for bad karma.

#1219775 The Clarkson Hype In Toronto is Laughable

Posted by Mitico12 on 25 October 2013 - 02:29 PM

Gotta love the way they talk up hockey in Toronto.  Believe it or not, with all the woes the Devils are having this season, I STILL wouldn't want Clarkson back.

#1202097 Kovalchuk Gone, What moves do we make now?

Posted by Mitico12 on 11 July 2013 - 04:47 PM

Volchenkov should defect to Russia too, and at the same time Salvador morphs into Nick Lidstrom and bammm...we're in business.

#1201949 Kovalchuk Retired Effective Immediately?

Posted by Mitico12 on 11 July 2013 - 04:06 PM

Per McKenzie...

"If NJ had so chosen, it could've blocked Kovalchuk from the KHL by tolling contract. But NJ isn't doing that, he's free to go to KHL."

Well, we don't know what goes on behind the scenes so let's not pass judgement on Kovy just yet.  He is free to do what he wants.  It was obvious that something "didn't add up" when the guy misses a good chunk of the last 40 days of the season or with a shoulder injury, yet he runs to go play in the World Championships a week or so later.

It's a rough day, yes, because there aren't too many players in the NHL of Kovy's level.  The Devils and the NHL are losers today.

#1132021 GDT: SCF Game 7

Posted by Mitico12 on 13 June 2012 - 09:09 AM

Just remember, according to the infinite universe theory, in some universe a game 7 is being played today and copies of ourselves will be celebrating.

Someone's been hanging out with Ilya Bryzgalov too much. LOL :-P

#1123554 (N)Đ„verson trolls with recount of 94

Posted by Mitico12 on 24 May 2012 - 12:35 PM

The Devils will have to dig deep and stay the course. Going back to MSG for a 7th game will certainly NOT favor NJ in any way, shape, or form.

Play hard, keep the Rangers wide, limit their time in the corners and in front of the net.

Put traffic in front of Hank, and chip away for a win.

Brodeur has to be his best because the Rangers WILL come out flying.

From an intangible level, DeBoer should put a moratorium on all media / newspaper reading/listening to all the players.

No distractions necessary...

Come on boys...let's do this!

#1069944 Gotta love Sherri Ross' honesty

Posted by Mitico12 on 05 December 2011 - 04:39 PM

Sherri Ross said it as it should have been said...

"Break up the Parise-Henrique-Kovy line because it just doesn't work"

When will people start listening to her words of wisdom that we've all been repeating forever?
