#1300474 I really am beginning to hate our fans.

Posted by njdevil26 on 13 January 2015 - 02:45 PM

Here are the games I've been to in the last few seasons

08-09- 20+

09-10- 40

10-11- 20+

11-12- 50 including playoffs

12-13- 22 (out of 24)

13-14- 30

14-15- 3

Three games this year. I support this team til the end.... but  I cannot sit in the stands listening to our fans chant things about the Rangers and talk about the Rangers and boo their highlights and talk crap about the Flyers and so on when this season is embarrassing enough. I agree that I hate our fans.

I heard about Salvador being boo'd at the fan event.... made me friggin sick. These are human beings. Sure the guy wasn't playing well in the beginning of the season. You think he's enjoying being hurt and not being able to help his team? I'm even okay with booing from the stands.... but seriously? At a casual event? Those people should be punched I don't care if it's someone on here. I'll punch you.

#1147924 Big Oil after Big Red?

Posted by njdevil26 on 17 August 2012 - 08:53 AM

Interesting to see the one commenter claim that Vanderbeek is one of the worst NHL owners of all time.

I know it's common practice for fans to hate on the execs, owners, and so on... but we've all loved JVB for YEARS around here. Without anyone here including myself being able to say 100% that this is all his fault... do we start turning on him? I'm not sure. The biggest impact he's had on this team so far (according to the common fan) is he pushed for the Kovalchuk signing. Many were skeptical at first... but it's hard to find someone that doesn't like Kovy right now given the guy's defensive revelation, heart and soul, talent, and dedication he has for this time... plus his contract is no biggie compared to the BS thrown to Richards, Parise, Weber, and Suter.

So what can we be mad at him for? Seems like the trouble is coming from the city of Newark not wanting to honor the current agreement and the minority owner group giving JVB a hard time. It just looks like Jeff's being a typical prideful business man and doesn't want to take it up the ass from the city and the other owners.

These people are the scum of this country and this is another example of that. I was rooting hard for the Rangers because as annoying as their fans are, at least they are civilized human beings.

#1071997 Just STOP

Posted by njdevil26 on 12 December 2011 - 09:14 AM

The amount of bitching, complaining, and fighting on this message board is unbelievable.

Why don't you all carve out a time and place to meet and settle your differences in person? Half of you wouldn't show up and the other half would be trembling at the thought of a real life confrontation. I have been here for at least six years now... and I've gotten in a few arguments with some of you and it sure doesn't make me feel awesome for the rest of the day that I told off someone on the internet.

I'm not one-upping the mods here. God knows they all have real jobs and are too busy to police this place 24/7... but for the last few days, I've logged on here looking for some hockey discussion to get involved in. Instead, I find the same people fighting in almost every thread. People that think they have the right to judge other people's comments and opinions, people that are ALWAYS right, and other people who can't hold a conversation like a normal human being without flexing their internet muscles.

Either this is going to stop or I'm leaving. Not that I expect anyone to give a crap, but this place has turned into a garbage dump of jerk-offs. I've met some real nice people here (sadly, they don't come here any more for this very reason). Hell, I even met my girlfriend on here and we've been together for almost three years. This place USED to be a great place to visit up until lately.

I'm not mentioning any names or user names but you should know who you are. Stop ruining this community.

(Waits for the ensuing argument)

#1064228 Devils Centers...

Posted by njdevil26 on 15 November 2011 - 09:37 AM

I don't see why anyone would want to break up the Zubrus-Elias-Sykora line...

Parise and Kovy are going to have to learn how to play together. Kovy needs Zajac and Zajac needs Parise...

I left out Josefson because right now I don't see how he recovers and becomes a factor this season... but if he had to stay, I would have:

#1057741 Kovalchuk

Posted by njdevil26 on 19 October 2011 - 04:24 PM

Kovy has an agent that knows how to play the $$ game. The KHL rumor was also placed by Kovy's agent in an effort to drum up demand for his client. Which never came.

When there were no teams interested in Kovy, he had to settle on the Devils (although using the Devils offer and going back to try and to get LA to offer more was pretty bogus). We are stuck with him for at least the next two or three years. Until he goes the Rolston route.

First of all. Shut up.

Second of all... to say other teams weren't interested... ugh... see my first statement.

EVERY team was interested. Grossman did not drum up a KHL rumor to get NHL interest for his client. He had his own agent in Russia who came up with the offer along with the KHL president advertising their desperation to sign him and get him back to Russia. If he did, Grossman would lose out on his client and his commission. The fact that Kovy turned down such a big offer from Atlanta is what scared other teams away. No one, including you, will ever know what Kovy's motivation was. You could say it wasn't fueled by money... but who's to say that's right or wrong? The Atlanta situation and the money that the KHL was offering scared other teams away. Chiarelli in Boston expressed his interest but also said he wasn't going to bend the CBA and offer that kind of money for any player. The Kings went hard. The Isles, Rangers, Flyers, and other teams were rumored to be making offers. At the end of the day... no one was able to put out the kind of deal that Lou was. The Kings were close.

There's so much that goes into a contract it's not just money and years. Players have been seeking certain clauses if there's another work stoppage. I'm sure the olympics in 2014 in Sochi are in there somewhere. The Devils also have pretty specific team rules that go into contracts. Vanderbeek was involved to sign off on the amount he could spend.

Also for you to say we are stuck with him for another 2 to 3 years... do you listen to yourself? I guarantee you that you're alone in that thought. We are going to have a lot of cap space, great young players... add to that the money doesn't come from my pocket or yours and it appears that it will not stop the team from doing business. I personally don't give a crap what the financial terms are. The fact that the Devils get a dynamic and amazing hockey player on our team for the next 10+ years is awesome. Where's Oduya, Cormier, and Bergfors? Do you think the team was better off keeping those players? Last year, Kovy single handedly made this team respectable and actually had us thinking playoffs for a little while there.

I feel like if Kovy scored 75 goals this year and we won the cup you'd still have something ridiculous to say. Are you an 80 year old woman? Quit the bitching.
Or let us all save you the time and inform you that Kovy is going to be here for the DURATION of his career. Go find a new team to root for if you have such a problem with it.

Uhhh, poor example my friends. The KHL was NEVER realistically an option. It was just a coy to get more money and drum up value from NHL teams.

You think Kovy, at the ripe old age of 27, would retreat to the abyss of Siberia to play for Avangard Omsk or something like that?

The trajedy of Lokomotiv Yaroslavl kind of answers that question...not too many in-their-prime players are going to risk playing for a league that can't guarantee the safety and living conditions of its players. Add to the fact that these teams, although they tell you they will pay you $20-plus million, may not actually be able to pay it.

If Kovy doesn't show "true value" in the next 2-3 years, you may see him packaged and sent off to another team while he is below 31 years old...

I think the fact that he's a fan favorite already, almost brought our terrible team to the playoffs last season on his own, and in four games this year has a game winning goal and game tying goal proves some value no? You're going to see more as he helps the development of guys like Josefson and Palmieri.

#976335 Anyone see Bettman at the game tonight?

Posted by njdevil26 on 05 January 2011 - 03:52 PM

No matter what happened with the Kovy saga last summer... people have to stop blaming Bettman for EVERYTHING. People complain over and over again about the Caps and Pens being shoved down our throat... well let's look at it? Would the Devils have been able to provide access for HBO's 24/7 like we got to see? HELL NO. The Caps and Pens are two teams with HUGE fan bases and also sell out every game. Their ticket prices are close to the same as ours and their fans have no problem filling the arena night in and night out. Complain however you want about Sid and Ovie... Sid is an absolute GOD and hero in his hometown in Canada and also is one of the best players in the world. The NHL would be STUPID not to market the hell out of him. As for Ovechkin, if Crosby is #1 then he's #1a. He's one of the only reasons that hockey is a big deal in the US Capital right now.

As for the Kovy contract. It was complete horse crap. 17 years? Come on... show me how many Russian superstars had a career that long. The Devils were trying to take advantage of the fact that there was no specific written rule for what they were trying to do even though it was a complete slap in the face and lie-on-paper as it was given to the league. The other contracts anyone could bring up are certainly "pushing the envelope" and the league WARNED GMs what would happen if it continued. So there goes Lou and JVB handing the WORST one in to the league and holding a press conference before it gets accepted thinking everything's going to be cool.

And I am sick and tired of hearing people talk about how Bettman is doing this and Bettman is doing that blah blah blah. The NHL is a LARGE company with different divisions and boards and committees. Sidney Crosby happens to be the league's top money maker... his salary is a legit one as is his cap hit... he has saved hockey in Pittsburgh along with Mario Lemiuex, has ridiculous endorsement deals.. and so on. What is the NHL supposed to do... tell him to fvck off? Say "hey you'll make us a ton of money but we really don't feel like it right now." Then people complain "why can't Parise be marketed like that?" The Devils and ours truly Mr. Lamoriello happens to have complete control over those kinds of ordeals. You'll have to take my word for it but I know from a Devils management point of view there are a LOT of things the players can and can't do and a good number of things that no one will ever have access to. Besides Lemaire on Versus last night, when was the last time you saw a Devils coach get interviewed like that during a game?

People say Bettman ruined the NHL's television broadcasting situation by moving it to Versus. Well ESPN was giving the NHL minimal airtime and was completely lowballing the league left and right. Hockey has a lot more exposure and airtime now that it is away from ESPN.

People also blame Bettman for the southern expansion in the league. Is it his fault? Really? He made a bold decision to expand the game. If a franchise works in a certain city it gains a lot of fans and starts an entire grassroots hockey campaign at the college, high school, and youth level. It's not his fault that Wadell in Atlanta doesn't know his ass from his elbow... it's not his fault that the arena in Glendale, AZ was built where it was and the owners have shallow pockets. It's not his fault that the GM of the Panthers can't ice a respectable team. It's also not his fault that Wang in Long Island, despite the amount zero's on the second half of his bank account cannot get his team a new building and expensive payroll. As for Canadian expansion, where in Canada can another team go. Canada has less than 40 million people right? That's about the amount of the New York, Boston, Philly, and Chicago metro areas combined. Where is there another city in Canada that has the dense downtown along with millions of people in the metro area that can support a team? Winnipeg? No. Use Bing or Google Earth and you'll see how far Winnipeg's metro area reaches.

I'm going on and on I know, but people are blaming one guy for this and that and the other thing and it's not fair.

Back to the Devils... a year like this has shown me how much of a sh!t franchise we might have. There are NO fans. When Philly was the worst team in the league a few years ago they sold out almost every game. Ottawa hasn't been great in recent memory but they fill their building. Our fans show up whenever they feel like it. Yeah ticket prices are expensive but there are SO many ways around that it's not even funny. And while in the building they boo the team left and right, yell slurs about Canada regardless of how many Canadians are on the Devils, and many other things that piss me off.

So back to the original subject. Congrats to the OP. You yelled you suck at someone proving you are more ignorant than most people here. Especially because you came back thinking that everyone here would laugh and congratulate you on your childish display. People here have a lot to learn.
