#1100053 GDT: Pens @ NJD 3/17/12

Posted by Steven M. on 17 March 2012 - 04:04 PM

You sound like Chico and Dano "Marty played well the score could have been worse" Marty did have some great saves but they still scored 5 goals against, none were deflected off our guys sticks & none were put in by our guys. One GA was off a face off and Marty wasn't ready and set in goal before the face off, so they scored. Chico tried to blame Henrique because he lost the face off, wrong he did lose the face off but it was scored by winger. Marty missed some pucks that resulted in GA. There were, I think, 41 shots on goal and at least 21 good shots so why do I care if we lose by 5-2 or 15-2, it's a loss, period, I don't blow my load because Marty lost the game but save a potential 10 more GA.

The Pens are a great team. Malkin is having his best ever year, he is the best in the NHL. Fleury is a great goalie. I expect them to be tough. So I am sorry I don't think a 5-2 loss vs a 15-2 loss is outstanding for Marty.

Okay, almost all of their goals were beautiful. Malkins goal was a nasty one timer, Cooke's was on a 2 on 1, Dupuis' was a laser, and the last one by Cooke essentially didn't matter. Basically, a few of them were completely unstoppable, and a few of them were "maybe" stoppabe, but if you're going to harp on Brodeur for this game then you're misplacing your anger. The team didn't show up around him. He did show up. So I am sorry that I mentioned he had a pretty good performance when considering what he was up against.

I'm going to avoid the Marty vs. Hank debate because I think it's a useless argument, and my 100% completely biased opinion will always state that Marty is the greatest goaltender of all time. There are many factors that go beyond simple stats that make me believe this.

I just wanted to thank the OP for his post; I did not know these stats, and I stopped and even read them aloud to my friend who I was with. Even she, who is not that into hockey (don't worry I am converting her :) ) said, "holy sh!t."

Regardless of what you think of him now, or what direction we should head in... If you've been a fan of this team, whether you've been there since 82' or been there since the 2000's... I think we can all agree we've been pretty lucky.

#1097231 GDT: Devils vs Rangers 3/6/12

Posted by Steven M. on 06 March 2012 - 09:46 PM

Oh it was glorious.

SMT3: hope you had fun at the game. This is why you mustn't implode after a poor loss. You know our team is capable of this! And how glorious it was!

Everyone stepped up. By the way to all the people who wanted Moose to start, Marty has 2 GA on 70 shots past 3 games versus the Rags. Can we put that one to rest now? He was phenomenal in this game!

Kovy was an absolute monster this game. Set the tone early.

Well I don't know about everyone else but my week is made. First team in the league to defeat them 3 times this season.

#1088945 Devils at Rangers, Tuesday Feb 7

Apparently every Rangers fan has forgotten the rules regarding goaltender interference...had this been the other way around they'd be up in arms over anyone touching dear Henrik.

Yep.

That's two wins in 7 days over the "top team" in the league.

I still contend that I don't buy it. They are a good team, but they aren't the top team in the league. They aren't even in the top 8 in the EC in goals for. I think they lack offensive depth and will that will hurt them down the stretch.

I still think the best team in the league is Boston.

As for their fans, it's whatever. Last week was a "lucky bounce." This week it will be the "bad call."

Fvck them.

Whoever said they'd rather Jansen in there over Mills just doesn't understand. I like Jansen too. But as a player he doesn't give us a better chance to win imo.

PDB said... I feel as though he understands better than you and I.

we lost to Bryz 4-0.

That matters A LOT. 2 points for Bryz, zero for the Devils!

Oh wait...

Who gives a sh!t how they won. They won. End of story.

Bruins just lost to Tampa Bay, which means that they'll be nice and pissed off to come and face the Devils.
Neither team plays again until facing each other on Thursday.

Sorry, I'd like to be optimistic, it's just... Boston, man. They're f'ing huge.
Even watching them loose it's like "holy hell these guys are good". It's unreal really, especially in today's game.

Well, we're pretty good too. That's why they play the games my friend. And it's like Iginla said after they went up 4-0 on us after 1... in regards to preparation for the remaining 40 minutes: "We know they're going to be pissed off, so we have to be ready."

You'd be silly not to think that this team is pissed off about their last showing versus Boston. Riding 5 wins in our last 6, it's fair to have confidence.

#1082086 Parise: Money matters, but Cup chances are key to new deal

Posted by Steven M. on 12 January 2012 - 03:49 PM

If parise doesnt re-sign i'm personally going to vanderbeeks home and burning it down and pissing on the ashes for spending our money on kovi instead of the unquestionably more talented parise.

Cool story bro :whistling:

Awesome win. Marty with 41 saves. Don't care if ya think he's done, should retire, or what. Gotta admit he played a great game just as he did a week ago versus these Penguins.

There's no need for "conspiracies" with the Devils. It's not a conspiracy when there's a proven track record.
Reminds me of the phrase "you're not paranoid if you're actually being watched".

That being said, I understand and appreciate what you're saying. My initial reaction was partiually driven by the fact that we're playing Boston tonight... I mean, Ottawa seems like a more obvious choice to have rested a guy against, sorta. Even better would have been an out of conference game. But, then I noticed that we've got back-to-back games against Florida and Pittsburgh Friday and Saturday before we go on the road, so... oh well. Hopefully he can play in one of those games this weekend (probably Pittsburgh).

Well, Travis Zajac's achilles tendon doesn't particularly care what day it is, what our strength of schedule is, or how important of a game it is. It just feels sore.

Hey, fvck you Kovy!! You're supposed to be terrible, why'd you go and score?

......

Decent 2nd period... still had a few ugly turnovers, Marty has bounced back nicely... Power play started off decent, wish there was no intermission to break it up. Hopefully they can nab one in the first 5 minutes of this period and make things exciting.
