  1. It's not, actually. SD left out some things. Like players having more and more opportunities to decide to play where they want to. If the previous generations of players had those same opportunities for the same salaries, you can bet they would've taken advantage. I can guarantee you that some terrific players who had to endure playing on bad teams year after year after year (sometimes for entire careers) because they had no say in where they played would've loved to have been playing in the present time period. They didn't stay with their teams completely out of loyalty and because they

  4. I really hope not many of the "Lou Rules" are abolished. I like the fact the Devils were clean shaven until playoff time. The Devils have a 3rd jersey the red and green. If they want a 4th the white red and green. The no high numbers was always waived for a very good player. e.g. Richer, Jagr etc. The no #13 was a Macmullin thing. Did Lou keep it in place? Yes I'm an "older" fan, but seeing these other teams changing their uniforms is really head scratch

The Devils got the very best of Lou, Brodeur, Stevens etc. Organizations fall off a cliff with blind loyalty. It was time to move on from all of them. Lamoriello did not want to take a step back with this team. Furthermore, he didn't allow to the owners market the team properly. Is Shero a better GM than Lou? Maybe not, but he understands that the team they had last year was garbage and not a few forwards away. He was detached from that group, and can see that. The exact

  6. I have so many thoughts on this Devils offseason (my head is still spinning), but I think it's probably for the best that Lou heads elsewhere at this point. I do think Lou's hands were tied in the whole Parise contract deal (although I think they should have started negotiations way earlier), I don't think Lou was completely on board with the Kovy contract, etc., ... but the fact remains, Lou had plenty of horrible to head-scratching signings over the past 8 years or so. I also find it interesting that Lou jumped on board with Toronto - that media market and Lou are going to be like oil and wa
