Going to go out on a limb here and say that the Maple Leafs are probably better when Auston Matthews is playing.

Cards on the table, I was annoyed this guy made the team out of camp over Blandisi or Quenneville. But obviously, the coaches know more than I do. He's been a fun energy player to watch.

Boyles played for everyone so zacha will never get in then, lol

Read this quote yesterday (can't remember where but it was an article on the HHOF festivities) and I appreciate the sentiment : "I wouldn't miss it for the world," said Niedermayer, on returning in 2018 when Brodeur likely will be inducted. "After all, you know who is going to be put in the Hall at that time. Marty. Marty Brodeur. Come on, he's as much a slam dunk as you can get. I already have my tickets." Have you guys been on Elias's Instagram? He's been posting a bunch of pics from the HHOF ceremonies - he was invited to take part in the game (though he was not put on Stevens team!). Here he is sucking up (just kidding) to Lanny (chairman of the HHOF):

It's always fun when guys like Gibbons get off to these kinds of starts, but it's almost always due to unsustainable shooting%s (the author makes a passing reference to Gibbons' shooting% without going into detail). Gibbons is currently shooting 33.3%. No, won't continue. Maybe he can score around 20 goals by season's end, as long as he can stay healthy and get great puck luck (like Clarkson did when he scored 30)...I'll happily take that from him.

One year from now, it's Marty's turn. This will be huge for us fans and for the organization, and obviously the ultimate individual honor for Marty himself. Can't wait! https://www.nhl.com/news/martin-brodeur-likely-to-lead-2018-hockey-hall-of-fame-class/c-292966474?tid=283496592 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Travis Zajac confirmed back in the lineup tonight. Hall - Hischier - Palmieri Bratt - Zajac - Stafford Henrique - Boyle - Wood Gibbons - Coleman - Noesen Greene - Santini Moore - Severson Butcher - Lovejoy Cory in net tonight as expected Zacha/Hayes/Prout as healthy scratches. For the leafs: Auston Matthews out tonight. Go Devs!

When he was playing, I don't think it could have been described as "showcasing". Yeah, point's been made, he needs to be playing. Noesen could sit.

Zaqcha is gonna get frustrated. He's only 20 years old. Let him play and gain experience. I believe he's in next game. LGD!!

LGD. Stupid that Zacha is out again. Gotta give the kid chances to fix his game. Having him sit out is a waste. Again, HE'S ONLY 20 YEARS OLD.

That team in every facet is a joke right now, they have no stability, a weak fanbase, and are currently on pace for a 28 point season. I think the NHL just unfortunately has to cut their losses in Arizona

Zacha isn't trade bait. His value is at an all-time low. If he was trade bait, they'd be showcasing him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

LGD, simply cannot believe Zajac is already back and in the lineup. Guy's got great genetics Zacha out again, me thinks he's trade bait. Hot take alert!

Gibbons has been a pro hockey player for 7 years. His goal totals by season, NHL/AHL combined: 11, 8, 16, 3, 6, 16, 8* (this year, through 17 games) Hockey is weird.

The only St. Louis that should be being discussed here is Martin, because he's eligible too (and should go in, but probably won't). There's really not much to say about Brodeur's candidacy. Bill James said you could split Rickey Henderson in half and have two Hall of Famers and I doubt the same is strictly true of Brodeur, but he was very good to great for a very long time.

He's scaring the sh!t out of me Dog. He sounds like a fanboy who's just happy to get to hang out with ballplayers. It's only fair to give the guy a chance, I can't dispute that (and it's not like we have any other choice), but he just seems like 100% the wrong guy based on what I've heard him say so far. Hopefully he proves me wrong.

Rags win a few games and suddenly they're the legendary powerhouse Rags again. Honestly the way they're talked about you'd think NYR has won like 3 Cups post lockout. They don't deserve to go into Chicago and get any respect. Sorry. The Hawks franchise has done it of late. The Rags haven't

Lamoriello has stated that the Devils had the top 3 goalies in this draft ranked 1. Brodeur 2. Dunham 3. Schwab It wasn't much of a secret that Calgary loved Trevor Kidd whose greatest NHL accomplishment was ugly checkered pads and growing a douchy nu metal bassist beard

I still think Elias is more impressive when you think 1) He played in the dead puck era while Goring mostly played mostly during the live puck era and 2) Elias probably left about 200 career points on the table by sticking with the Devils through those years including some pretty offensively-depleted teams.

Nice little article in USA Today: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nhl/2017/11/14/new-jersey-devils-ride-speed-skill-youth-surprise-start/864574001/ Main take-away? Sounds like Hall is buying in “Since the start of training camp, there’s been a different vibe on this team,” Hall said. Hall turned 26 on Tuesday and he was ready for an expanded leadership role. “I want to have as much responsibility as possible,” Hall said. “And I would be lying if I said I didn’t want to be the guy they looked to to provide offense and some leadership. That’s how my game has grown."
