I think what I’m looking forward to the most this season is the constant complaining about how much we suck, how much all of our players suck, how much all of our prospects suck, and how everyone else’s grass (particularly the Rags’) is greener than ours. Should be a barrel of laughs. Let’s go!4 points

Just goes to show you, doesn’t matter how much you pay people, the kind of person they are is the kind of person they are.4 points

Dont forget the guys who think we just refuse to sign free agents, like there’s a line of guys ready to sign in NJ but we just forgot to call.3 points

I miss hockey, like eveybody does. Eveyone needs to be realistic going into this though. At first it'll be nice to have hockey back, but the high is going to wear off and odds are we'll be looking for any positives we can out of this sh!t. Let's just hope they all stay healthy and show some compete.3 points

And don’t forget the “our team spends no money” people. I know we have the cap room but I like the fact we’re not throwing out dumb contracts. I don’t know of any players the Devils could have signed but didn’t because they were too cheap. I’d like to see that list.2 points

I think that's how they spell it in England as well...think it's kind of a Euro thing? I've seen it before (and yeah it does look weird).2 points

This might be the reason behind that... https://sanjosehockeynow.com/kane-sharks-sued-by-centennial-bank/2 points

Devils prospects ranked 2-7 in the league everywhere. It's naive to ask the universe for more.1 point

i said this a million times but i'd pick a bunch of young guys with potential trying to build something to win in the future 10 times out o 10... over putting together a desperate attempt at a miracle, piecing together a bunch of over the hill vets, getting worst and worst every year and dragging the team right into the ground.1 point

As long as Jack, Nico, and Blackwood develop and continue to improve...feels like it starts with them. And hopefully some other kids (like Bratt, Smith, later Holtz and Mercer) follow suit. I like to believe that the Devils are trending up too, but right now it's hard to tell which direction they're going. I'm optimistic as hell though. In a way I'm glad that I only have to watch this team for 56 games and not 82. I think we'll see some good games and some fun moments...but a lot of rough ones too.1 point

even with nico, bratt and vats this team is pretty bad unfortunately lol But at least we're trending up and not down1 point

The best case is always spending money on homegrowns (like the deal given to Nico...just hope he won't be injury-plagued). And then if you've managed to put together a worthy core but still have more money to spend, THEN you go for that 1st or 2nd tier UFA guy who can help to put you over the top. Devils are still firmly in the "Trying to put together the core" stage. Hopefully, it's Nico, Jack, Blackwood, and some of the youth currently in the pipeline. But to sum up, I agree with you.1 point

I'm very confident that I could at the very least match missing the playoffs in 7 of 8 possible seasons which our team just did. Not exactly a high bar lol1 point

Unless Dolan get MAJOR government funding to build the new arena AND gets to continue to own the new place without paying any local or state tax on the property, the same way he does with MSG now, this is not going to happen. They just put close to $1 billion in private funding into a massive renovation of the current MSG, to which they no doubt have debt service that will continue on for years. To have to build a new one, in midtown, as part of this project, will easily cost $1.5 billion. I just don't see what is in it for Dolan as part of that plan.1 point

He looked just like that in all 4 games. You can’t tell anything about him from him playing 4 games in the NHL last year and one 3 seasons ago for another franchise. Don’t care what he did in the AHL, or in Liiga, because we all know those don’t translate to NHL success. This is such an insignificant move. That said, you do have to wonder who McLeod has naked pictures of that he gets a spot. A little size, a lot of wheels, and not much else. Nobody answered my question, is that the end of cuts and the roster is fixed?1 point

He looks like that magician who Jerry accused of stealing his Friars club jacket.1 point

He looked good this camp and towards the end of last season. He would’ve made a good bottom six winger.1 point

I wasn’t a fan of Merkley. I like his flashes, I don’t like how he play in the rest of the game. I watched some of his game in Finland and he wasn’t dominant there. Liiga isn’t hard place to play. I don’t say he is bad or anything like that but I can’t say this is enough for some NHL role right now. He will probably pick up the pace and get an opportunity to play in NHL as the season progresses I think.1 point

I think people are upset because he was part of the Hall deal too. If we lose him it basically means the impact from the return on Hall is minimized even more. Especially if Bahl doesnt pan out too1 point

Full list and comments for Nico for anyone who doesn't subscribe.1 point

He should’ve made that assessment before he signed the contract. I think that’s the only issue anyone has. Nothing changed between October when he signed and now, unless it was a change in his health and he certainly hasn’t given any indication that an injury or health concerns were the issue1 point

The Athletic released their top 100 player list. Devils have one entry in Nico, who they placed in the lowest bracket of Top line (4c). Bit of a kick in the teeth as Peterson and Heiskanen are both in the 2a and 2b section which is franchise player. Hoping Nico can kick on this year, become a bit selfish and shoot the puck more.1 point

So apparently Evander Kane is filing for bankruptcy, he's allegedly almost $30M in debt0 points
