  1. When he has a good center he is on. He hasn’t when he played on wjc. He is on the bright side of his game in the moment of time and place.

  2. Laf has 1 point in 11 GP now, and has been completely invisible the couple times I’ve watched the Rags. At least you saw flashes with Jack last year even when the points weren’t coming... I’m so glad we got centers with our top picks. I’d much rather build a team around Hughes/Hischier than Laf/Kakko.

  4. Amanda tweeted nothing to worry about, that they came off the list too early and will be removed in the coming days in accordance with their actual timeline. Fraud Period is just going for clicks/retweets without telling the entire story. EDIT: here’s the Stein tweet: EDIT 2: according to CM (I can’t spell his name without looking) it was a clerical error

  6. And capitalism. Just wait till ticket prices come out. Net games start at $600 a ticket per Carton and Roberts and you have to buy twenty of them.

  7. There’s a whole segment of the population that believes the virus either doesn’t exist or isn’t a big deal. One of them was President.

  8. South Korea also has a population that will actually do what's best for their fellow country folk and follow the rules without yelling plandemic.

  9. Another old guy, like vadvlfan. 70 yo. Grew up in Jamesburg, not at the reformatory, aka State Home for Boys. We lived around the corner from our great grandmother, who got the house from her parents. Anyway, lets just say I have a serious devotion to the Garden State. My wife was/is a Rangers fan, growing up in Bergen County. She got me watching hockey . Then in 1994 my world changed when I got to see the Devils in what was arguably the best playoff series in NHL history. Been on this board from the start, seen the gradual turnover of posters. Missing PK's ardor for Scott Stevens, LOL. I have lived in the Point Pleasant/Brick area for 45 years. Am a CPA, with clients from Essex County to Burlington County. I've got two sons, one lives in Chicago, the other in Seattle.

  10. I mean, it’s pretty much what they have asked from all of us for a year...

  11. Most of these seem to be common sense things that they should have been doing all along

  12. I won't be doing it. The concept of getting tested when you don't think you are sick is annoying to me, like its a good idea to go around a bunch of people who are getting tested because they think they are sick so I can go to a game. I will pass and watch at home on the big screen.

  13. Ohhhhh oops I'm on board now, 20 games at $600 a piece. I was thinking 20 tickets for a game at $600 each. My bad.

  14. I would imagine they try to sell packages for the rest of the season first, and then individual games will be available. They will assure that only the most affluent fans can attend if tickets are $600 a piece.

  15. Well there’s a whole other group of stupid people that don’t like vaccines and/or think it’s a government ploy to inject you with a microchip also. But yes, that seems to be a different bunch.

  16. Agreed, lots of misinformation out there in US. Our messages are are pretty clear up here, and most covid restrictions are government issued and regulated. People even got fined around where I live for sitting on a park bench lol.

  17. I wasn't referring to you or even Laf or Kakko, I just saw how bad Thorntons rookie year was on that chart and it reminded me of the whole Samsonov thing Sorry if it came off like it was directed at you

  18. I would never even begin to think about using the “b” word wrt to Laf or Kakko yet (I mean, Laf has played 11 games), I just thought I’d bring up how bad the Rags young guys are struggling (remember how folks were flipping out because their rebuild was so far ahead of ours?). Particularly the unnoticeable part If someone wants to label that as hypocritical so be it, but context matters, and more was expected out of these top Rags picks than ours. We’ve been through it a thousand times, but Jack was (correctly) predicted to need some time to get bigger and stronger, and Nico was supposedly a “low end #1.” But all we heard on Kaapo “played against men” Kakko and Laf (supposedly the best #1 since Matthews) was how pro ready they were. So yeah, I’m enjoying that they’re struggling so badly. I’m sure they’ll both get it figured out at some point, but as for right now just let me be a homer and hate on the Rags goddammit lol

  19. ah well i can agree with that too. I mean there's dumb people just refusing to follow basic rules. Then there's people getting a pass because people have their ideologies so far up their ass that they can't see common sense.... religious people still able to gather in churches. Or like De Blasio telling his contact-tracing force that they are not allowed to ask people testing positive if they attended a protest. Then they say that there's "no indication" that protests lead to any spread and the tracking which goal is to established where its spreading and who might be at risk, ends there.. lololol I mean, come. on.

  20. Travel plays a part at this point in the pandemic, but it's a small part. At this point there is a laundry list of problems in the US with regards to covid and they mostly center around selfishness, misinformation, and a special brand of willful ignorance.

  21. I mentioned the big difference between Hughes and Laf’s struggles in my post (as I see it). Hughes was at least noticeable out there, and constantly creating chances, carrying the puck into the offensive zone, etc. Laf looked completely invisible to the point you’d have to check the box score to confirm he even played. Maybe he’s looked better in some of their other games, but the two I’ve watched he’s been a ghost. Also, Hughes was not already 19 years old during his rookie season like Laf is right now. Nor did he have that kind of size and body type (6’2 193). Laf was supposed to be far more pro ready, but it seems like the same story as with Kakko in that his NHL readiness was clearly overstated.

  22. Countries far more densely populated than the US seem to have figured out ways to handle it. For example, South Korea is 14 times more densely populated than the US, yet the US has nearly 52 times more cases per million people (83,000-1,600) Another example, South Dakota and Canada both have population densities of 4 people per square km, but South Dakota has 2051 cases per million people compared to Canadas 554. We just did not do a very good job.

  23. Well thats arguably why they got him in the first place because this whole cycle happened with Lemieux too

  24. Agreed. Maybe they should figure out how to keep the teams on the ice throughout the league here in the US first?

  25. I'm likely the oldest person here, 72, been a devils fan since mid eighties. Grew up in Point Pleasant Beach, went to grammar St. Peters' / high school (St. Joes/Donovan-Toms River. Went to school (Jr. College) in Brooklyn commuted mostly & at that time was addicted to music, spent as much time in the village as I could. Saw a lot of pretty cool bands. I've been in bands in HS & still play with folks close to my age. Still gigging . I play bass/sing/piano and write record music. I like most genre's of music but only take so much. (I can only take so much Blues/reggae/bluegrass/Celtic etc. I played beer league hockey in Brick, then moved to Tulsa (job as exec. Chef). Played beer league there as well. Coached 2 of my boy's and continued coaching for another 15 years or so. Stopped 2 years ago. Been in sales (Food to restaurants/Hotels etc) for a lil over 20 years. Will retire when my wife does, next November. My family (brothers/sisters-total of 11 of us) are mostly in NJ. (Shore) I've lived in Virginia Beach 34 years. Have 4 kids, 8 grandkids, 2 kids in Fla. 1 in Long island, 1 in Cranston RI. My family is part of party boat fleet in Brielle. A couple of my brothers still involved. Anyway, I enjoy coming here daily and the banter between us all.
