I met him only very briefly, when Chico signed my blue Rockies Resch jersey. Chico was fighting a hell of a cold (his voice was a mess), but Chico being Chico, he offered to sign it as soon as he saw what I was wearing. He led me up to his broadcast area (this was back in the CAA), and Doc saw me and chuckled “He’ll sign anything you want, just don’t ask him to talk!” Wish I could’ve had a brief chat with Doc, but they were due back on air. Another great memory I have of Doc is during a game where the Devils were getting slammed by the Penguins 5-0...game was winding down in the second half of the third period, and a good chunk of the crowd had left...I walked into the Fire Lounge mostly because security seemed to have lost interest, and could see Doc and Chico working the game. Even though he didn’t show it too much in his voice, you could tell Doc was frustrated by what he seeing...as one point, after a particularly ugly sequence, he gave his desk a smack and just shook his head. Made me realize that just like Chico, there was a lot of fan in him too. And that he was right there with all of us, in what we were feeling.

We really bonded when we were playing on the same line a couple weeks ago.

I asked to speak to MSG Network's manager and got the audio that was out of sync fixed for 2 different road games.... But I asked them nicely and wasn't recorded screaming in a store on a viral video so I can't really consider myself to be the latest buzzword Karen just yet.

I report everything that happens on this board directly to Gary Bettman. But the conversation usually starts with me calling him Count Chocula so he ignores everything else I say.

I have 2 pictures in particular on my Devils shelf that I'm proud of and they were both taken on the same night. Me and my friend decided to wait out the crowd after a win and just walk around the concourse until we were asked to leave. After a few laps, we turn the corner where the Jack Daniels bar is now and I see Doc walking towards us with his trenchcoat and what looks to be an insanely heavy satchel/briefcase. Not wanting to bother him I simply say, "Hey Doc! Heck of a game!" He drops his bag and proceeds to shoot the sh!t with us for about 10-15 minutes and actually took the interest into asking what careers we were looking into and what we wanted to do with them. Truly a class act. Took a picture with all of us and left on his merry way. Fast forward 3 minutes and we wander into the bar area and Chico catches us. I think he kept us there for a good 40 minutes just bullsh!tting where it got to the point where the ushers came up and this poor old lady had to be like "Scuse me, Mister Chico? We're closing the doors soon"

Except no one here is bitching to the NHL or boycotting the games over this sh!t. It’s mostly just some Devils fans venting to each other on a message board. It’s really not that big of a deal.

This is pretty ironic. I wasn't at all going "boo hoo", I was merely making a statement that I hate ads on the ice, particularly ones that show logos of our most hated rivals. Not once did I draw any comparisons about potential revenue from those ads. If anything, you seem to be the one whining and make this out to be way more than it really is. Seems like some sort of nerve was struck with you, and I really have no idea why. I'm sorry you're so bent out of shape about my comment.

Pretty sure everyone knows it’s a choice and nobody is being forced to go. I think what people are expressing is that their choice is not to go because they think it’s too risky. For me, I’d rather not worry about it right now. Regarding the food, it says you will pick it up on a sealed bag after ordering from your phone. I’m not sure what difference that makes, I guess it’s protected while you carry it to your seat.

Should he have been banned? No. would I have a problem if no team wanted to draft him because of that? Also no. The real issue is the ongoing narrative that people who are 18 and 19 years old our “young and stupid”, and that being offered as an excuse for their behavior. If you want to tell me that a 13-year-old who says something racist on Twitter is young and stupid, and that shouldn’t be considered when he’s 18 and about to get drafted, OK, maybe that’s a better argument. But when a 19-year-old kid knocks out a girl, I don’t buy it.That person should be in jail. If they’re not, and they get their ass beat for it, they deserve it 100%.

This is a touchy subject, but I don’t think something someone does as a teenage kid should cost them the rest of their lives (if it was a one time thing, not years of terrible behavior like that kid Arizona drafted). I’m sure those of you follow the NFL know about the Joe Mixon incident when he was at Oklahoma. It was an absolutely terrible thing (he pretty much broke a girl’s face with one punch for supposedly using a racial slur and putting her hands on him first), but he’s been a model citizen ever since. But there was a large faction of people that wanted him taken off every teams draft boards, and basically be stopped from entering the NFL. My team (Bengals) took a chance on him though in the 2nd round, and by all accounts he seems like a great kid who just made a horrible mistake in the heat of the moment. But ofc he’s a Rag so fvck him anyway.

I don't think it's stupid but its not an experience I'm willing to spend money on and while this can be considered a step back to normal life there's nothing normal about this current setup. I think I've been pretty clear that I've strictly been talking about my own opinion on all this stuff. I'm a season ticket holder for the Devils and Red Bulls and I'm sitting out this whole thing until we get back to actual normal. I'd maybe change my mind for the playoffs but honestly don't think that's gonna be an issue for either team lol

I know you all may think its stupid in one way or another. Bottom line is, people are getting vaccinated, cases and hospitalizations are down, and we all need to start to get back to normal life. Teams need to get fans back in the seats. If you are in a supermarket, you are not tested to get in and you are within 6 feet of people all of the time moving around. If there are 1700 fans in the building, the team will space them out to where they are not in soemone elses space when sitting. Thats all you are asking for. Anything else is no more dangerous that going out to a store. In 1-2 months time, instead of 6 Pct in NJ being vaccinated, it will be closer to 20 pct. People will want to get back out and go on trips, go to sporting events etc. It is time.... BUT - remember it is a personal choice. If you dont like it, don't go.

You could. The Brooklyn Nets model requires a test taken at the door on the day of the event. Even that would be inaccurate. But you can basically wipe your ass with a test 72 hours prior, all that means is as of 72 hours ago, you either didn't have it or you had it and it wasn't yet detectable. And lets be honest, there are plenty of people who would go to the game even if they were having symptoms because they spent money on the tickets. I guess thats a STH thing, I have heard it before. Those of us who bounce around the arena are already used to it lol.

Fondest memory of the cattle corral bridge was walking back across it with my dad after the Devils won the Cup in 1995. It was so loud in there, you couldn't hear yourself think. I was convinced the people banging on the corrugated metal sides were going to cause a panel to break loose and fall onto the roadway below. That thing was originally constructed as as temporary bridge with a life span of approximately 5 years. It was there for almost 20. Gotta love NJ.

Nah just me, the blue ads don't match, that's a fact and I never said I expected it to change, I just don't like it. Haven't complained about it since it debuted though. What growing mentality? The fact that people don't like corporate ads everywhere? Should we really be kissing all these corporate companies asses just because their logos are slapped on to something? When sh!t gets back to normal you can be sure as sh!t that prices for fans won't go down when all those helmet ads stay for the future seasons and whatever other new ads pop up. The Devils outscored the Caps 3-1 five-on-five. While I hear what you’re saying CR- kill two penalties, and you win. I contend they should’ve won the game. The Caps may have gotten the better of the play as the game went on, but you still can’t tell me the main reason for this loss isn’t an inability to kill penalties.

Watching the Doc tribute...you can hear a little tremble in his voice that wasn’t there before. Guy was so damned good at what he did...I’m so glad he was ours for so long. I’ll always miss him.

And oh yeah...congrats to Travis on what should be game #1000 in his career. It hasn’t always been pretty for him here, but he’s been nothing but a great soldier and a class act. Get the feeling due to the center situation, this is probably going to be his last season here. Another career that just flew on by.
