  1. Of all the years to do it, it's seems like this year isn't a bad time to actually win some games. You can actually see some chemistry developing. And given the complete lack of consensus on the draft order it hopefully shouldn't matter. (Having said that if we don't get one of Brandt Clarke or Luke Hughes I will be pissed)

  2. For years, I’ve been pretty consistently on board for losing all unimportant games down the stretch in order to get in a better draft position. And I agree that when it comes to draft day, it is frustrating to think back to the seemingly useless wins that bumped us back a few spots. But I have to say, it feels different this time around. As much as I think this team sorely needs one of those top defensemen in the draft this year, it’s great to see some of these young players carrying the team. I’ll take any win we can get if it helps get our young core to the next level - and even better if it’s any indication of a better next season. Feels good to be rooting for the team even when playoffs are out of the question.

  3. On a side note...the Flyers are really a fvcking mess right now. Yikes.

  4. PK is obviously a piece of garbage. Like how he “provided lunch for the entire ICU staff at an Ottawa hospital” today while recovering from COVID himself. What a loser, I bet he didn’t even send dessert.

  5. And it’s the fact that the Flyers are such a mess that forces me to temper my enthusiasm...the Devils just did lose 10 straight games after all. But I do like seeing these youngins putting up some numbers regardless. Many of these pieces aren’t sure things, but at least they represent a chance of being able to develop from within...it wasn’t so long ago that that had become a serious problem for the Devils. Given the amount of cap space that this team has, I’m fully on board with the Devils stepping up and overpaying for Hamilton and/or Larsson. Neither is old and they can definitely help move things along.

  6. I’ll preface this by pointing out that I couldn’t stand Subban in Nashville. Despite the hype, he was at best the 3rd best d-man on that roster the day he was acquired from Montreal and a clear 4th in his last season there. At this point, why does any of the stuff that happened in Montreal (or Nashville) even matter? Isn’t it possible that he was an immature attention grabbing jackass in his early 20s that has matured into a media savvy veteran that eats the tough minutes on the ice (preventing the Ty Smith and others from getting caved in) while also being is a solid presence in the locker room for our young team? I get it. When I donate, I typically do it anonymously as opposed to telling the whole world about the good deed I just did but In the end that’s all harmless stuff. I’m sure the Montreal Children’s hospital doesn’t care if the 10 million came via PKs fund raising or out of his own pocket as long as they get the 10 million. Again, I’m not his biggest fan but his play this year has me hoping he doesn’t get jettisoned to Seattle and I wouldn’t be against extending him further if his contract expectations are in line with where he’s at in his career.

  7. Even though it was all against a Flyers team that was a mess, it sure does make me feel better about the young core watching them show some heart and pull out of a long losing streak with Sharangovich, Hughes, Bratt and Zacha all piling up points along the way.

  8. Happy the Devils are winning but looking at the standings feeling like “here we go again”... 3 times in the past 6 years we’ve had a little mini winning streak that’s cost us draft position at the end of the year. Regardless, it’s really nice to see the kids playing so well. Sharangovich and Kuokkonen seem like keepers.

  11. Last 35 GP: 13 G, 12 A Last 16 GP (within the above): 8 G, 8 A What I love about the way his rookie year has gone is that he isn't a guy who started off red-hot, then cooled off once word got around about him and found himself unable to adjust...instead, he needed some games to figure things out, and now just keeps looking better and better and more and more comfortable.

  12. Jason Robertson of Dallas is making a very strong case. Close in terms of points in less GP. The thing that may count against Kaprizov is his age at 24 where Robertson is 21. The Devil's having 3 players inside the top 10 in rookie scoring is amazing. I wouldn't have believed that would be possible a few years ago.

  14. I’m not sure he does, other than by one person on this board.

  18. I think it’s likely Kaprizov runs away with it, but who would’ve thought that with Ty Smith’s hot start, Sharangovich would actually pass him in the rookie scoring leader stats? Has he done so kind of quietly, or will Yegor get a few votes?

  20. I wouldn’t even call that tanking, as much as smart asset management...team has no shot at the playoffs, get what you can for players likely to leave or who simply don’t fit into the future plans, and call it a day. Full-on tanking is so hard to pull off, because players have a way of surprising under such circumstances. It reaches a point that the only way you can really do it is to sit players who clearly deserve to play for significantly less-talented personnel. The Dolphins tried to set up a tank a couple of years ago and the initial results went as expected, but then they started to come together, and to that franchise’s credit, they didn’t get in the way and try to sabotage them. If the kids are beginning to believe in themselves and that’s translating into wins on the ice, good for them. Curious to see what happens against non-Flyer opponents, as this season winds down.

  21. PK was traded from Montreal in 2016, after his extension in 2014. Why in the world he still gets held to attitude problems he had in the early 2010’s, I have no idea. At this the point they may need his 9 million just to hit the cap floor

  22. Like that it’s kids coming on. Nothing against either Zajac or Palms (I liked both players a hell of a lot), but I’m glad that this little surge (Devils have scored 33 goals in their last 9 games...they’ve also given up 39, which is a problem, but they’re at least scoring) isn’t being led by older players who clearly aren’t the future. I really do want to see Fitz put himself out there and make a real play for some good veteran help on D...yes, he will probably have to be the highest bidder. But it really feels like this team could truly benefit from a signing like that. And at some point, gotta stop talking up weaponizing cap space, and actually DO that.

  23. I didn’t realize how bad the Flyers have been for quite a while...just four regulation wins in their last 31 GP. Goddamn...

  24. Yes, something stinks in Philly. Their goaltending really sucks. And Blackwood was great yesterday. Amazing how the rest of the team plays in front of you when you have confidence between the pipes. I think Dev's players like this winning sh>t.

  33. And of course the offense immediately follows the tone set by McCan’t in the first, and the bats again go completely silent. Meanwhile the Phillies have tied it up. I hate this fvcking team.
