It wouldn’t actually shock me if they won three of the last four and finished the season with an illusory junktime surge, this is basically going through the motions time for everyone else now that the playoff spots are clinched while we have guys looking to get a leg up on winning spots and more ice time next year. But today against a good team that wanted the game was just a little reminder there’s still a long way back to relevancy here.4 points

I don't post much but I follow every GDT. Sometimes part of being a fan is the suffering.4 points

This is actually going to be the shortest summer since 20122 points

Yeah, having watched the video a few times, I have to retract my former position. Stuff that happens in the course of playing hockey I don’t mind. Wilson wasn’t playing hockey. Back in the day when a couple of enforcers got into stuff like that, no big deal. But Panarin certainly isn’t that.2 points

To add onto the Wilson thing - he's supposed to be a tough guy but he apparently had to grab Panarin by his hair like a school yard mean girl in order to get the better of him. He slammed Panarin's head into the ice too. Wilson is officially on Matt Cooke/Rat level of hate for me.2 points

I’m watching, with daughter in tow. One of those nights where the Devils just look...very green. Somehow hanging around though.2 points

I missed all of Saturday's game - I'm a huge horse racing fan and I was busy handicapping the entire day (didn't work, I lost lol) - but was looking forward to my Devils fix tonight. I'm soaking up these final 5 games of the season, and already looking forward to next October. On a side note, we already mentioned it a few posts ago, but it bears repeating - Bahl looks great - he's fighting for pucks, and he's communicating while back on defense (saw him gesturing to Smith where to go with the puck). Very impressive and encouraging.2 points

Just want to take a minute to thank all of you hardcores who are still watching these games. The GDT is as dead as a regular thread now, only the most hardcore of fans are still checking in. I appreciate you all.2 points

Only 3 games left after tonight (Isles, isles, PHI). Soak in the moment. Did you Enjoy the ride?1 point

I didn’t think we’d win in 2019 after having won in 2017. Odds will be what they are, if it’s 9.5%, what happened in previous years doesn’t matter. There’s still a 9.5% chance. Which is not a great chance.1 point

Always seems to be some annual scare with deGrom, but then he turns out to be ok...hope that’s the case this time.1 point

Same. Hope they never win another game BUT, I admire the hell outta having the balls to send that out. Even though it will have the same impact as pissing into a running fan.1 point

Is Slim Pickings one of our defensemen in Binghamton? Answer: no, he’s ALL of our defensemen...1 point

Yeah this goes back to 2017 when Parros was named but sums up my thoughts here. The NHL has missed the mark on DPS since it was created back in 2011. SI DPS Take on Parros Being Named1 point

Especially with his history, but even as a first offense that would’ve warranted at least 2 games. For him, maybe 10.1 point

imo Reaves is one guy who by in large stays within the old school code but yet has a field day torturing Wilson every chance he gets. Reaves is a keeper in my book. It's too bad he's not in the same division.1 point

I do. I don't care what team a player is on, no one deserves to potentially have their neck broken on a play like that. It looked like he came down with his stick on the back of the guy's neck.1 point

At this point I'm only watching to see the new kids and that there's only a handful left before the long summer1 point

Would be nice to see the Devils stick up for their teammates like that.1 point

Mine was happy with the fact that we’ll either win or eliminate the Rangers from the playoffs tonight. That’s my kid.1 point

While I wouldn't put the season on Ruff's shoulders, I guess how much is on him depends on if Nass and Recchi were his choices, or choices that was forced on him by Fitz and/or ownership. I really look forward to the day when Nass is no longer behind the bench. I would take literally anyone over him right now.1 point

Come to think of it, he was a perfect "could go either way" hire...good enough in that he had a ton of experience and a winning point% as a head coach and enough success to command some respect, but not owning a resume so amazing that the Devils letting him go after one season would seem like a major travesty, if the season went badly enough. We don't know how long his contract was, but I'm guessing it might have only been for a couple of years...I don't remember him being in very high demand when the Devils hired him. I would still be shocked by a move like that though...if anything (pure speculation on my part), I could see something happening behind the scenes, where Ruff "resigns" (I wonder how thrilled he was to have nASS on his staff). Even if some fans aren't fully sold on him (I can understand why), I'm not sure how much of this season really falls on him. Unless there's this "gotta have him" candidate out there who's available and who definitely wants to come here, I'd give Ruff another shot, with some new assistant coaches.1 point

maybe it's time that player safety is lead by a guy who at least had a once of NHL hockey skills in his bag of tricks? Somebody down the middle of the road when it comes to being a player/fighter type. Not sure this was posted here if it was I apologize. Just glad it wasn't one of our Panatin sized skilled guys.0 points
