  1. I knew a bunch of teams were going to end up regretting passing on Caufield because of his size. Kid looks really good so far.

  2. “it's an easy group to come in and insert yourself” Reminder: don’t drop the soap around Travis.

  4. I can say I like Edvinsson more than Hughes, but devils are in brothers story situation. We don’t have any option. And if somehow they will gone, devils will draft beniers. I really hope Fitz will draft Clarke. He is closer to be BPA, but if Fitz think they are both on the same level, Clarke is more what we need than left defenseman. Especially when we have Smith on the left side.

  5. I don't blame him at all. Chance at getting a spot on a team going on a playoff run? In the twilight of your career? With 2 of your former teammates, and your former GM? While also helping your former team pick up a few picks? No-brainer. I waive that NTC in a heartbeat.

  6. According to Fitz, Zajac came to them and said he would like to be traded to a contender. They already knew Lou had been interested last year but Zajac wouldn't wave his no trade. I don't think Zajac said anything wrong or crazy though. The Devils are a ways off from being where the Isles are at the moment. He didn't fit anymore and he was aware of it

  8. You right. I was just being facetious. I was in Montreal for that last game of the season when they came back from down 3-1. It felt like they could do no wrong until Carolina brought them right back to earth. I'm also not saying Montreal is great, but they won 2 series so they have something going on , even if Vegas or Colorado smacks them around

  9. I mean this is probably true, but it's hard to really say. "The Flyers were one point back of MTL" doesn't mean fvcking anything when Montreal didn't play the same schedule as the Flyers. I tend to agree that if the divisions were regular it's unlikely Montreal makes the playoffs, but you can't really compare them with the list you posted above as if everyone played a normal schedule.

  10. Montreal is coming together at the right time but in fairness, without realignment for this year, they wouldn't even be in the playoffs. Pitt, Wash, Carolina, NYI, Toronto, Bos, Tampa and Florida would have been the Eastern Conference teams with Rangers finishing 9th. The Flyers were also one point back of MTL with them essentially quitting for the last few weeks. I imagine if they were still playing for a spot, they would have managed another point or two.

  11. I think he's probably most passionate about the fact that this all but guarantees that he's keeping his job but yeah, that's pretty cool.

  13. I wanted NJ to try to get Toffoli. He's been great for MTL. Wouldn't have come here anyway.

  14. Nevermind, the Jets still suck. MTL to semis

  15. Canadiens are on a roll! It will be interesting to see how they do when they get out of the North. Are they peaking at just the right time or is the North really this bad? Probably a bit of both.

  16. “They play with structure, they play with commitment”. Gee whiz, if I didn’t know any better I’d say that’s a lack of identity mixed with a losing culture.

  17. Right, didn't a couple guys (or, at least one guy because Lee was already) have to get injured before he and his 1960's 12 year old boy haircut "fit in"?

  18. Easy there, Trav...you weren’t fitting in over there either up until recently getting some ice time.

  19. Ouch, ok Travis , no need to be mean.

  20. I don't have a problem with anything he's saying...he's just being honest. It'd be easy to say that he might be taking a jab at the Devils' coaching staff with the "structure" comment, but yeah, I'm sure for a guy like Travis, there was SO much youth on the team that he probably felt more and more like an outsider...at this point in his career, being on a solid vet team where most of the players already know who they are and what they each bring has gotta be his best-case scenario (assuming he actually gets into the lineup). Gotta be fun for him to be in the second round of the playoffs too...it's only been nine years since he was there last. More and more it's becoming clear that neither Palms nor Zajac are coming back here, and that's fine. Palms did all that really could have been expected of him in his first five seasons with the Devils, and now he's finding the net in the playoffs, but who knows if he's on the decline (or soon to be, after showing possible signs of it this past season). And Zajac certainly isn't getting any younger. I liked both players a lot and there was sadness in seeing them both go, but at the same time, it seems both were growing tired of the losing. And more and more it feels like change wasn't such a bad thing...especially if it had reached the point where Travis felt like he no longer fit in.
