  1. He should keep that chip on the good shoulder just in case.

  2. Yeah count me among those who were going to watch tonight...until it became completely pointless to do so.

  3. And yeah these leaks are terrible. Typical NHL that they’re gonna sabotage their own event tonight with this sh!t.

  4. Of course it is very NHL-like for them to shoot themselves in their own foot with all these leaks, especially from the NHL SiriusXM radio network account. At this point there is no use to even tune into the first televised NHL event on ESPN in over 15 years. I bet ESPN is thrilled with this start.

  5. He will be fine. He's from Sweden; the world capital of angst

  6. With the shakeup that Poile is trying in Nashville, if they lose Johansen tomorrow, it might be full rebuild time down there. I know everyone lumps him in with Duchene, but RyJo is a 60 point center under anyone but Hynes that looks lazier than he is and always turns into a true 1C in the playoffs, but I digress. If he's gone in addition to Ellis and Arvidsson a rebuild has to be in the works. I would love to target Filip Forsberg for next summer when he's UFA. Ideally, we pay up for a 1D this summer, get Jack signed long term during the year and then spend big on bringing in the top line winger we are missing next year.

  7. That’s the only reason to be upset, which is more for them personally than for us. Guys like that are a dime a dozen and I’m not going to pretend we can’t find another guy like Bastian.

  8. You answered your own question- you take away their pass and give it to someone else. You can fine agents and teams who leak this sh!t too, but there has to be some accountability for essentially ruining the first major TV event with your new broadcast partner.

  9. Personally I would have been irritated watching it for an hour when I know they already made all of the picks. What they should do is gather all of the exposed players like they do on entry draft night, and they have to walk up, turn in their old jersey, and get their Kraken jersey. You’d be able to see on their faces who was happy and who was pissed. That would have been funny as hell.

  10. He should be. It’s completely ruined the event. There is literally no reason to watch now.

  11. It’ll be straight picks tonight probably. The NHL loves being boring. There should’ve been a missive sent out that NO LEAKS will be permitted. Because tonight is now ruined, and there’s basically no point. Same. fvck the league for allowing leaks to happen.

  12. It's pretty telling when an NHL GM thinks Bastian, a 2nd year fourth liner who is 5 years removed from his draft year, is considered a more useful hockey player than Andreas Johnsson and Will Butcher.

  13. This is why a few weeks back that I was going on and on about help or "weaponizing cap space" not coming from a top-tier UFA but from a major trade. These top tier UFA are more likely to be willing to take a small pay cut to go to the team they want than going to the highest bidder (see Panarin and Tavares). If the Devils walk away from UFA with Coleman at 5 x $5M then I would consider that a win at this point. I still think Hamilton is pie in the sky thinking.

  14. Yeah I am not exactly sure why fans are treating Bastian as some major loss. I see it as pretty telling when a good amount of fans consider losing Bastian, a 2nd year fourth liner who is 5 years removed from his draft year, is considered the worst possible outcome.

  15. Well his is almost 30 and has kids to feed… Wait, what are we talking about again??

  17. Devils retain Subban and bring in Carey Price, @SterioDesignquits being a hockey fan to focus on movie memorabilia.

  19. We don’t play in the playoffs so we didn’t consider that.

  20. Especially if we can sign Coleman. With Coleman it was making either Bastian or Johnson expandable on the right side to some extent already so. I'm just bummed cause McLeod and him were special together and were super buddies, to play together in the NHL was something.

  21. Welp, Guess I should have stayed of the internet today. Way to kill the suspense NHL beat writers, at least this reminds me to avoid the Social sphere tomorrow night until about 10PM.

  22. Except most of those moves you didn't like are quite easily fixed cause replacacing these players through trades or free agency wouldn't cost much. There's a lot of those guys out there When you're building a team from scratch basically you gotta build your core and main position first. Then you fill the rest of your roster with those players. Having too many of those but no core players is not much better, thats basically what we had not long ago

  23. I would do the same. Let’s be honest we ain’t getting any of them.

  24. Dougie Hamilton and Gabriel Landeskog are two I wouldn’t mind having, and Blake Coleman and Linus Ullmark. All of them. I would put some money down that we get zero of them.

  25. Just read somewhere else about an hour ago any trades involving Seattle will be announced tonight. Who either way the leagues as all of you have stated once again comes across as a clown show.

  30. Morgan Geekie, great name. Would you rather be that or Tyler Pitlick?

  31. Yeah, like many have said, not going to make or break the Devils, but for me anyone else being taken would've been the better outcome. Oh well.

  32. Agreed I was tempted to stay up, but knowing the list there is no point. The NHL once again drops the ball.

  33. I am genuinely surprised any UFA's would just take Seattle's offer without seeing what the market was like.
    1 point
  34. Is it really a good number of fans? Sure, I'd like Bastian to stay, but if he's taken, it's far from the worst possible outcome, and most have to know that. I'm sure most fans would get over it very quickly.

  35. Now more than ever, I think the "weaponizing" will come in the form of being able to keep whoever they want to without having to trade any assets to make room. And yeah, the ability to shop in the mid-tier range without having to worry about cap implications. Still don't know if there's enough value among the youth to swing a deal for higher-end player. The funny thing is that I think Fitz WOULD spend big on a high-priced UFA, but it just doesn't feel like it's an option for the Devils. I could see him making Hamilton a "We want YOU" offer and Hamilton saying "Nah".

  36. Seattle are not picking tarasenko, it just leaked. They are picking Fleury from MTL and McCann from Toronto. Like the Vegas draft. i suspect we'll have the whole list by the time it's actually the draft. it's always leaking through the day

  37. i suspect today will be a sh!tty day. Larsson not available for us anymore, Price staying in MTL and i'm pretty confident Seattle will pick Bastian. What else could go wrong now

  38. IIRC, I was reading that Hall's agent was the one who was mostly driving that negotiation and advised Hall he was worth the $9M+ a season. If that's true, I would be really pissed at that agent if I were him now.

  39. Seattle signed Larsson. Motherfvckers

  40. He should talk to Coleman about how they should both be seeking the most money possible.

  41. We would be able to overpay for him even more if we can get rid of PK Subban. The more i think about it actually, i'm actually not a very big fan of Subban

  44. I honestly think Coleman should sign with the highest bidder. I don’t often say “oh, team doesn’t matter, take the cash” but that is exactly what Blake should do. He just won two stanley cups. Highest bidder gets his services. Don’t forget that while he’s “young” in terms of NHL experience, he’s almost thirty. Cash in on your last contract. I think the time for him is now.

  45. I don't often suggest that guys sign somewhere just for the money, but I think that is exactly what Blake should do. He's coming off two consecutive Stanley Cups and arguably his value has never been higher. He should not be worried about going to Dallas, he should be doing it the old fashioned way, whoever is giving the most dollars and the most term. It's easy to forget, but Blake is almost 30. He should max out this deal, because I am not sure what a 36 year old Blake Coleman is going to play like or whether there will be another big deal. The time is now for him, I think.

  46. I find it positively ridiculous that signing an unrestricted free agent means that Florida now doesn’t have to give up any other players. NHL should redefine the phrase, because that’s not what unrestricted means.
