  3. The Hamilton deal looks more and more reasonable every day. Fitz did a wonderful job this week.

  4. The thing I expect Hamilton to help with the most is sustained pressure into the offensive zone after guys like Jack or Bratt carry the puck in. WAY too often last year one of those two would make a clean entry only to have no support trailing. This was often when Jack would just try the miracle passes that seldom found another Devil. Now we’re going to have one of the best in the league back there.

  5. There's ALWAYS the chance that these long-term deals can go horribly wrong, but if given to do over again, under all of the same exact circumstances, I sign Hamilton to the same exact deal 10 times out of 10. He's still relatively young (Devils are paying for his Age 28-34 years), and if the Devils get four years of still-in-or-close-to-his-prime Hamilton, followed by two or three decline-but-decent years, I'll consider that a good ROI. The knock I keep hearing (from other teams' fans of course) is "If he's so great, why is he already on his fourth team?" I know the first time, Boston had cap issues and he was a RFA the Bruins couldn't afford to pay, and Boston was able to get some pieces back for him (from Calgary)...a first-rounder and two second rounders (hasn't worked out so well for the Bruins...none of those picks have turned out to be much). As for Calgary, there's this (see below), but I still wouldn't read this and ever think "OMG, the Devils just signed a complete headcase, what are we gonna do?!" If he was such a PITA, Carolina's not willing to go 8 years for him. I still think it's 1000% the right move and I'm glad he's here. 6. The Devils won a Stanley Cup almost immediately upon his arrival, and came pretty close the year before that. One could argue that the team never had more than marginal success before or after him. Granted, he was here a lot of years, but what did the team accomplish from 1982-92 and 2014-present?

  12. From what was reported when JD and Gorton were fired was that Dolan felt that the team was much closer to being in a win-now mode than JD and Gorton felt. The Rangers are pretty thin at center and they don't want to waste any more of Panarin's good years left. I could def see a directive where Dolan is alright with parting with either Laf or Kakko to obtain Eichel. I don't think the price will be that high due to the Rangers justifiably having concerns about Eichel's health.

  15. I definitely think it’s more the latter. Hell, just the amount of hate I saw online over the Hamilton signing was ridiculous. You listen to half these people Dougie is one of the most overrated players in the league and we’re going to end up regretting the deal two years in. I have a feeling if that exact same contract was given out by a more popular franchise there would be a very different reception. Anyway, fvck em indeed. Let them hate.

  16. My only “oh sh!t” moment that will come from the Tarasenko sweepstakes is if the Isles or Rangers get him. Yes, it 100% is little brother syndrome where I don’t want the Rangers to have nice things. They have one of their young goalies apparently asking for a trade and still need to lock up sh!tstick, but everyone wants to help the Rangers and I cringe at the idea of Doug Armstrong trading Tarasenko to them for Keith Kinkaid and retaining 50% of VTs salary or something freaking dumb. As for the Islanders, kinda goes without saying but screw them. I absolutely don’t want Fitz to pull out all the stops for the unknown commodity (health wise) but a nightmare would be for the NYR scenario to play out and the dude returns to hockey insanely healthy and lights it up. He’s probably laugh his ass off at the comment and agree with you. He’s pretty self deprecating on the Cam & Strick Podcast.

  21. It looks fvcking amazing. Beautifully shot. Almost every shot is an art piece. Lots of good actors in it too. I really went in blind and didn't look into it at all other than seeing the trailer once. A bunch of stuff went way over my head cause I went in and had no idea it was a King Arthur / Excalibur story. And i'm not really familiar with that story and not a big fan of knights / king stuff in general. But the people who went with me mostly were and they loved it. There's a lot of layers and everyone kind of found their own interpretation about some things, so it's one of those deep meaning vague movie at times disguised as a typical quest movie. Thumbs up I would also like to report that as we speak... we still didnt trade for Tarasenko lol

  22. This is a cool thread idea. How do you make your ribs? My father gave me his gas smoker a year or two ago because he moved to the mountains and can't have it (it attracts bears). I've used it a few times and gotten pretty good. I mix it up between applewood chips, hickory, and pecan - they're all tasty. The ribs themselves I usually baste with my own fairly simple dry rub - brown sugar, salt and pepper, paprika, garlic power, onion power, and anything else I'm feeling. A buddy of mine puts a tiny bit of mustard on it, which he says is what gives it that charcoal crisp/burnt texture on the outside, similar to what you'd see at a true BBQ joint, but I've never personally done it. For cooking times, I usually wrap them in foil for 2 hours, take them out and unwrap them, put them back in for another two, take them out again and baste them with BBQ sauce, then put them back in for another 2+. In totally I usually cook them for anywhere between 6-8 hours, and I just judge it by how they're looking. Temp is usually set between 200 and 225. Pics of the house? Or at least just the color you chose? My father bought this thinfg, I think it's called Blackstone, that was like $100 or maybe $200 at most, and he swears by it. It's a flat top grill that is really versatile - great for grilling, searing, even breakfast items, with very little mess. It's real similar to what you would see at a hibachi place, where when you're done you just push the grease or mess into a hole which goes into a tray, then re-oil the top so it doesn't rust or stick, and you're good to go the next time you wanna cook. It's also really lightweight and portable, and comes with some sweet compartments and hooks to store things. I just assumed that was the norm around most areas these days, but maybe I forget that I live in FL with a pretty nice climate most of the year. Down here there are tons of places with outdoor seating and people bring their dogs everywhere. The only thing that bothers me is when people bring their dogs into a store, like the supermarket (assuming of course it's not a guide or service dog, which that is totally different). I just don't want your smelly panting animal walking up and down the aisle with me unless you absolutely need him to live/function. Same here. If I happen to see a trailer for a movie that I don't know about it might make me interested in seeing the movie itself, but on the flip side if I hear about a movie and think I might want to see it, I'm definitely not going to seek out the trailer because I don't want it to ruin any of the movie for me. I like to be surprised and enjoy some suspense.

  24. Get the feeling Saad was the guy he really wanted. And that he may consider Tarasenko, but strictly on his own terms. This next move may not be coming for a while.

  28. Sounds like he’s ok. We can confirm Bob is in stable condition after experiencing a heart related incident. He and his family would like to express gratitude for the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, as well as his cast, crew and producers who have stayed by his side. The Odenkirks would also like to thank everyone for the outpouring of well wishes and ask for their privacy at this time as Bob works on his recovery.

  29. Video cuts from WJSS games. I dont call him bust, but he isnt close to be competent defenseman. And I dont think it is a bad picked. But this pick isn`t close to be the right pick for now. I really hope Michigan coaches will help him in defensive game. In all abundance of defensive game. I really hope devils will give him 2, even 3 years for develope. Maybe 2 years in NCAA and one year in AHL.

  30. BTW what is with local talk radio? I'm shocked Carton and Roberts took deadline Friday off, especially after they were on the radio the other day interviewing 'acting GM' Zach Scott. And the Kay show is leading off the 3 PM hour with...a frigging Knicks draft pick interview! I get you guys are probably contractually obligated to do Knicks stuff but could it like wait till after 5 PM on deadline day?
