  1. Just listened to Lindy's post-game and I gotta say I am sick and frakkin' tired of "comes down to puck management." No sh!t Sherlock. How about it comes down to a frakkin' system. Think you can find one?

  2. He probably needs one today. I don't hate the guy, he just had to go.

  3. You can be a bad coach and a good guy. I think Lindy was both.

  4. I mean, let's be honest - this was almost TOO obvious to happen after this weekend. The season is highly unlikely to be salvageable but you still needed to do this. Let Travis Green run it thru and then find a real coach in the summer.

  5. If he isn't fired today he's here for the rest of the season. We are also 5 days from riding out the trio of Swiss cheese goalies. Either way, hopefully we can all accept our fate by Friday and begin researching draft picks and practicing world peace. Hmm did I take too much Xanax this morning I wonder 🤔.

  6. It’s not even about if Green can magically turn everything around…this just needed to end. Especially with Lindy having fully lost the team. That could NOT continue.

  7. If the price for a goalie was too high and he didn't want to compromise the future then I get that. What I don't get, like many, is that you'd need to be blind to have not seen the team sliding all year. It wasn't just injuries and bad goaltending, either. Nothing happened. Nothing changed. Just kept doing the same things and expected different results. I've mentioned before that two seasons ago this team had atrocious goaltending and needed 7 goalies or something to get through the season... But they looked good. That team could transition like no one's business and score on the rush like some of the top offensively skilled teams in the league; just couldn't get a save to save their lives. Does this team look like that one? Just can't get a save? I don't think so. I think they look lost. They've looked completely lost all season. Rock bottom looked inevitable since December and I am shocked Fitz did nothing to stop it. I can't believe whatever was holding him back was worth losing the entire season.

  8. Insane to me that he sets the expectation this year to compete for the playoffs, and then does nothing, literally nothing of significance, during the season to improve the team as issues arise.

  11. Huge black mark on Fitz’s tenure here. This should have happen WEEKS ago!

  12. As much as we needed this I'd still buy Lindy that beer lol

  13. Green sucks but let's give Fitz the benefit of the doubt here to assume he's not going to make him the permanent coach. They named him the interim

  14. Season is already punted, might as well wait until summer to see if any options change. I'm not mortgaging the future just to get Markstrom here for the rest of this worthless season

  15. I'm also not a fan of trading Holtz for a 34-year-old goalie The kid is one of the better pure finishers we've ever drafted. Is it his fault this dinosaur head coach doesn't know how to utilize them or develop him properly? Calgary's about to make us look stupid, with Sharo and Holtz developing into studs for them while we take their old vets.

  16. Sherry Ross called him PhanTom Fitzgerald on Twitter.

  17. I wonder if we can trade our 1st rounder (which will be a lottery pick) and some other stuff for Askarov at the draft. I’d rather do that than overpay for Markstrom.

  18. I’m sorry. Mr. Fitzgerald has left for the day. Can I take a message?

  20. I’d been avoiding the board because of the negative energy swirling around the team, so this news came as a surprise but was definitely not unwelcome. Although it’s too late for this season to be salvaged, at least the Devils can begin laying the groundwork for future success by finishing the season strong. Lindy wasn’t the right coach for this group, something made painfully obvious by the team’s inability to start games strong and make period-to-period adjustments, but I wish him and his family the best. I’m sure the decision to relieve him of his position was as difficult for him to hear as it was for Fitz to make, if not moreso.

  21. I'm not getting my hopes up on amazing goaltending yet. Would love to at least see an improvement in defensive structure that doesn't leave shoddy goaltending out to dry as much.

  23. Sorry but that fvcking loser never should have been the coach. 850+ meaningless wins, never won a cup. Hope the door hit him on the way out.

  24. Had to happen. But Fitz is the one who royally fvcked up this season. And Green is complete garbage. Can't wait for Tomplacent's media availability. Not.

  26. I'm going on Tuesday, my mom bought a block of about 50 tickets to sell for her church booster club and people were still asking this morning if she had any left to sell. It's so disappointing that folks actually want to see this team play and THIS is what the fans get.

  27. Don't disagree with anything here. We all want Lindy gone... but we all know who is responsible for that decision and a LOT more that is impacting where this team stands.

  28. I don’t want a bipolar GM… you can’t back a guy so strongly and change your tune when things get tough. But when times were good last year, he was front and center with his plan. We are absolutely a dumpster fire currently and there is no leadership for the fan base. Your coach deflects, and there is no public accountability. You have players and media dissing deficiencies in the team. Like Joker in Batman, we just need to hear the plan. We are publicly aimless. If it’s we failed this year because of injuries but will try to compete, but looking more at next season… so be it. We need a leader with a plan and the ability to pivot. Losing Dougie early really hurt this team, and then we lost a bunch of forwards with the season seemingly on pause for Jack to come back to do Jack things. When Jack failed to carry the team by himself, we imploded.

  29. Fitz isn't firing Ruff (in the near future). If anything, it sounds like he's doubling down, convinced they can still make the playoffs under his watch. Fitz also sounds like he's obsessed with getting Markstrom. As others mentioned, I would talk to Boston to see what it would take to free up Ullmark. I won't even ask about Swayman because I don't think Boston would give him up. It's going to take our first-rounder and Holtz, at the very least for Markstrom. That'll probably be just the start of the negotiations. And instead of trying to acquire a pick for Toffoli, he's going to sit on that one too convinced they can still make the playoffs. It sounds like Fitz is either detached from reality or fighting for his job to the point where he has blinders on (but since he just got that contract for himself I doubt that's it).

  30. Researching top prospects we won't be able to add to the team anyway, because they'll be headed somewhere else in exchange for a goalie who can hopefully be serviceable for two years. If this team could figure out how to draft and groom an NHL caliber goalie it'd be a miracle.

  31. It's almost as if he is trying to deflect blame from himself with these types of responses. "The players just aren't executing and doing what we're telling them to do! They're not managing the puck like we're telling them to, it's their fault not ours!" Like fvck off. Adapt your archaic system (again) to better fit the team you dinosaur.

  32. Not that anyone has used this argument in a little while, but I truly doubt the owners are sitting in the way of this happening. This wreaks of Fitz' blindfaith loyalty that was learned from Shero. Harris just spent the weekend at the combine with his team's scouts and sitting in on interviews. He's also allowed Fitz to spend up to the cap and even take on money for assets. Firing a coach would be a drop in the bucket to them, not to mention, had it actually been done in a timely manner, it could have given the team a small boost to be in the hunt instead of dead to rights. Its 530am, do you know where your general manager is?

  34. If we trade for a goalie now… giving up 3+ first round picks (2024, Mercer, Holtz, Casey (2nd)) - I’ll be livid. Season is fvcked - no reason to dump the promise of this roster for mid goalies that doesn’t address the problem. Poor coaching, inexperienced defense, players afraid to shoot. Pack it in. Sell off the extra pieces (Toffoli) but leave our future intact. I still believe in our goalies long term, but we need a stopgap. We don’t need to pay deadline prices.

  36. I just came in here to say that Flyers, Lightning, and Islanders all win tonight. fvck you Devils. Gutless losers who don't play hard enough and make way too many mistakes. Yeah, I'm calling the entire fvcking team out. Dreadfully underwhelming season. Oh, you don't like that? Think it's unfair? Try winning more than two or three games in a row once or twice.
