  1. Can we shoutout @DevilMinder for keeping this place alive during the dark years? Couldn't have been a ton of traffic while the team was collecting draft picks. Feeling incredibly lucky to be able to celebrate with y'all right now. LFGD!

  3. Luke was so good, he is going to be a superstar like his brother. And shout out to mcleod, he really stepped up this post season. He was downright an anchor for the team to stabilize from at points.

  8. What an overall absolutely amazing season that none of us remotely expected. Such a huge turn around from last season, the biggest ever. Most wins ever, Hughes with the most points ever. Beating the rangers in 7 for the 1st time. Actually playing in May. Beats the absolutely misery of the past decade with nothing to give a sh!t about besides stupid draft lottos and draft picks that I don't give a fvck about besides hoping they turn out good. I had an absolute blast attending home games this year and watching this team. Love seeing our fan base rejuvenated. Was nice to finally balance out all those miserable nights I've spent watching dog sh!t hockey the past decade at the rock. Thank you Devils!!!

  9. Just got back. First thing…shared intermission brews with @Lateralous and @MadDog2020 and that was a blast. Great meeting Lateralous for the first time and seeing MD2020 again. Obviously lots to love about this game…especially so many guys finding the net…maybe now the damn dam breaks for both Nico and Timo. Not going to kill VV but at the same time pucks are just not finding him during these playoffs. Luuuuuuuuke…just keep playing him Lindy. Guy might indeed be one of those fast-trackers who can handle the NHL quickly. And is it possible to healthy-scratch Brewnet?! It’s getting dangerously close to feeling like he’s getting advice from Recchi at this point.

  12. Side note but how awesome is it that Jack isn’t just a regular season guy but also turns it on in the playoffs?? Some skill guys shrink away from physical playoff hockey but Jack is thriving in it. I say it a lot but I cant wait to see what he does in his prime

  17. MB3’s son is out of surgery (was 8.5 hrs long) and though he’ll have a long recovery ahead, at least this part is over. Passing this along as he asked me to let everyone know. Also wanted to thank all for the well wishes and prayers. Hope they all get through the tougher days still ahead.

  18. Had to dvr. Just finished watching. What a wild game. Congrats Devils!!! A few thoughts: 1. Luke was missed in games 1 and 2 and I absolutely love his game even despite a bad turnover on PP. 2. I like the 7D roster. Canes forecheck is hard to handle. 3. Canes got beaten bad, but this team can always find another gear. They never lost composure, so don't be fooled by the score. Game 4 will be much tougher. 3 SHG must never happen again. 4. VV makes me nervous 5. McLeod is amazing Let's go Devils!!!!!!!

  19. Devils can obviously really pull off something amazing and incredible on Saturday. We know the deal...the Rangers made the kinds of moves that scream "We'd better make a SERIOUS fvcking run at this thing, RIGHT NOW! Making the playoffs was a foregone conclusion...no honorable mentions there. Winning a round or even two rounds isn't really enough. A Conference Final appearance is pretty good, but we want to at LEAST GET to the SCF! Anything less than that will not be seen as a win by our fans nor this franchise!" So this is NOT just an encouraging series win for our young upstart Devils, should they pull this off. Is it a beautiful step forward? Of course. But it's more what this does to the Rangers...for them, this is an absolute crusher, the kind of disaster that will stick with them for an entire offseason. Panarin will hear it. Zibane-bad will hear about it. No one will remember Kreider lighting it up on the power play early on. They'll have wasted a year of firmly-in-his-prime Shesterkin, and surely some will start to remember how the Rangers found ways to waste Lundqvist's prime years, when he had a four-year run where he did all that he could to give his team Stanley Cup Championship-level goaltending, and simply deserved better. The Ranger faithful will be getting ornery and plenty restless, and even better, would have to watch the team that killed what was supposed to be a big-time all-in season for them move on to the next round...ON THEIR HOME ICE! Does it get any better? fvck no! And fvck THEM! All of those dumbass "Duuuuuuuh Brawdway Noo Yawk Tradition!" Ranger fans. They deserve nothing but more disappointment and failure and misery, and we root for just the team that can make that happen! So L G M F D! Beat them! Send everyone home that's associated with them unhappy and angry and bewildered! CRUSH! THEIR! DREAMS! DO IT! FINISH THEM!

  20. Injuries and this management's lack of admitting defeat with him. Want proof? They gave him two of the biggest games down the stretch and had our number 1 start throw away games that you or I could have probably kept the team competitive in (hello, CBJ). We're concerned greatly because the team plays a completely different style when trashwood is in net. I'm not going to dig for the numbers, but besides the eye test, the advanced stats show a staunch dip when 29 is between the pipes. Sure, the rosters have no limit, awesome. Problem is, this team needs to have a reliable backup in net on the bench because of the possible fluke injury. You cannot trot 29 out there in relief of VV. Schmid has 100% proven and earned himself the backup role, but now Father Time behind the bench is pretending he didn't watch Schmid make his presence known earlier this year. The old man seems to love Blackwood and I have few doubts he won't have him as the number 1 back up. That is a big problem, especially with Schmid here. He earned it. Blackwood has had countless chances, his time is over.

  21. It's 10 minutes before closing time at some really sh!tty dive bar somewhere...in comes our pal the NHL to tap NJ Devils on the shoulder: "Hey, Dev, buddy! Remember that not-too-shabby Wild Card chick who seemed to be spoken for? So get this, that guy wearing orange and black who looked like he was in like Flynn? Well not only did he get shot down by a couple of beasts while she was in the bathroom, she caught him in the act and now is just about ready to tell him to fvck right off! And not only that, those other dudes that she was kinda flirting with...well, they're all so banged up now that I don't think she wants to go home with any of them either! Dude, all ya gotta do is not be a complete idiot, ya know, chat with her a little, and you might be able to go with home with her! Whaddya think?" Some more tapping on the shoulder by the NHL, this time much more vigorously. "Dev, are you fvcking listening man? She's AVAILABLE! All ya gotta do is just go talk to her and not be stupid!" NJ Devils finally looks up from the toilet that he's been hunched over for the past half-hour, as he flushes the remainder of that evening's stomach contents to underground oblivion. As the revolting mass of bile and booze whirlpools its way down to the bottom of the bowl, NJ Devils meets the NHL's questioning gaze through watery half-lidded eyes, wipes vomit from his lips, and utters "Huh?" Um, LGD...I guess.

  23. As someone who didn’t get along with him, I don’t miss the constant arguing one bit. This place has actually remained remarkably civil even with the disaster of a season. Now if we could just get one dude to stop saying I told you so on a daily basis it would be pretty much be nothing but good interactions. Which is honestly somewhat a miracle considering how upset everyone is at this point.

  30. What I'll miss most is @MadDog2020 posting "SharonGOALvich" in the wrong thread while 5 beers deep right after Yegor scored a goal. Happened too infrequently last season. Great trade by Fitz here, can't believe he pulled that off. Toffoli's 73 points last season were good for first on the Flames in points. That's ahead of Kadri, Lindholm, and Huberdeau.

  31. This will get deleted almost immediately, but hi there -- MB3 checking in. I'm hoping DM will let it stay up, I'm just going to say my piece and delete this account. It was weird celebrating a fun season without some people I've been talking Devils-hockey with for nearly two decades. I've had several people reach out to me on HFBoards and Reddit, gotten a few texts from old guys I was close with here. You guys rule. The last time the Devils won a playoff series I was celebrating with you guys while studying abroad in Europe. It's been 11 long and dark years. I won't get into the ban. I can disagree with the specific reason I was prema-banned but I cannot disagree that it was eventually deserved. I've had it coming for years. SD's had it coming for years, too. Mfitz -- I still strongly feel that he did not deserve the ban, and I'm sad for him. He got caught up in a messy situation and was unfairly lumped into the MB3-SD category. He didn't cross a line. I've lurked (hard to go cold-turkey from a place that you spent every day at for 17 years of your life) and I see some of you are pushing for him to be reinstated. I encourage you all to continue that, I think he deserves it. The board is better with him. You'll probably find it funny that the singular most unusual friendship was created from the ban. Me, SD and Mfitz are in a group-chat. We talk every single day. All day every day, weirdly enough. We talk bout the Devils, about stupid stuff, about life decisions, about our families, about our jobs, about SD drinking milk out of bags and about Mfitz being repeatedly hit on by his daughter's friend. Mfitz is a hottie. It's goofy and stupid and goes off on tangents that every one of you here could've predicted. There are many reasons I'm posting this. I think all of you know that I became a dad 18 months ago. I grew up with a lot of you, and this information feels like it should be shared. My son will be undergoing an emergency brain surgery on Wednesday, May 24th. It is a dangerous and risky surgery for a dangerous ailment that would've killed him within the next few years -- so it is necessary. If you have a minute to say a prayer, or send good vibes, or whatever your affliction might lead you to do, I'd appreciate it. I'm not asking to be reinstated. I'm just popping by to say hello, since it feels weird that I haven't done that in months. If/when DM or msweet is reading this, I will log off from this account and I will not continue to post from it. I'm not trying to sneak my way back on here. Go devils -MB3.

  33. Dear New Jersey Devils, Okay, I’ve got a four-pack of an 11%-ABV triple-IPA and a four-pack of a 13%-ABV barrel-aged Mexican stout for the game. Every time I see something I like from you guys today, I’m chugging the stout. Every time I see something I don’t like, I’m chugging the trip. Every time I feel like chugging and it has nothing to do with the game, I’m chugging. All I know is this: I’m going to have a great day…and tomorrow at work is going to be really rough. Oh, and good luck today. I suppose. Best, NJCroMag

  35. Dear New Jersey Devils, Please accept this inspirational parable as my best wishes for a game one victory tonight against the Hurricanes... The moral of the story, obviously, is that...uhhh...there are still parts of North Carolina where people don't wear shoes? That's...wow...that's the best I've got. I'm not very good at this, apparently. Anyway...best of luck! With eternal love, NJCroMag [AUTHOR'S NOTE: I had to Google it afterwards, but apparently, the story is about how important it is to have the right mindset and attitude to properly assess a situation. But I like my shoes theory better.]

  37. Hey guys. We’re in the second round! All those garbage seasons, the Tedenbys and Josefsens, guys like Tootoo in the top 6, the 109 goalies we used last year, it all finally lead to playoff success

  39. Just got home. One of the most satisfying home playoff games that I have ever attended. Watching the Ranger fans saunter out of their seats at 4-0…fvck ‘em, every last one of them. Man of course I was hopeful and I never revised my Devils winning in six prediction, but if anyone had told me that this team would flip the narrative THIS convincingly and abruptly, I wouldn’t have believed it. The Rangers had NO answers tonight. None! That being said…still hard work to be done. Ranger fans (and maybe even the team itself) sure seemed to think this was sewn up at 2-0. The Devils don’t have it wrapped up at 3-2. But very much loving their chances. L G M F Deviiiiiiiiiiiiils!!!
