  1. 5th Round pick confirmed on TSN. I'm fine with this. Mottau and/or Fraser should be sent somewhere. Ideally Mottau.
  2. I want this guy on this team, along with Parise, for a very long time. He says all the right things, and is a true professional.
  3. I just don't get way the refs can't talk to each other after the whistle is blown. For example, the phantom slash today in the Pens/Caps game. Cooke's stick broke when he put pressure on it, but one of the Caps defenders was called for slashing. The ref 50 feet away in the neutral zone called it, while the ref 5 feet away saw the entire thing and didn't call a penalty. Shouldn't the NHL get the calls right?
  4. Where has Kovy been the past 3 years when Avery yaps at Brodeur. Two minutes left or not, when you have a shot of being the sh!t out of someone like Avery you take it. Our offensive superstar can fight, I love it.
  5. Excellent point. Parise can adapt over there if the team needs him to. He won't even think twice about doing it if told either, because he's the ultra-team player. And to go back to the original question, Lou will not forget about Parise. It seems as far as popularity right now, Parise will take a back step to Kovie. But he won't go unnoticed. When Lou puts the feelers out about resigning Kovie he will always keep Parise in the back of his mind. There should be no need to worry about that. Parise is the future captain of this team, whether Kovie is here or not. And when push comes to shove and Kovie is demanding too much, he will choose Parise over Kovie and I would stand behind that 100%.
  6. Awesome, awesome, awesome, AWESOME trade! That's all that needs to be said about it!
  7. Now that I'll agree with. Let's face it, we just don't sellout games. But who cares. Kovy will put more butts in the seats though. Whether it be 5 or 150 butts, it'll be a plus at the very least.
  8. Haven't seen anything from Oduya yet? This is his 4th season. And he's 29. What are you waiting to see? Scotty has been his mentor all this season, and yet it's his softest yet. Maybe what Scotty is preaching isn't getting through to Oduya. Bergfors is a good player, don't get me wrong. But I don't know if star is the right way to describe him. He is expendable. He won't be what Zajac has eventually turned into. He doesn't have the vision, the defensive awareness, nor the center position like Zajac does. The Devils farm has an ample amount of wingers who can be just as good if not better than Bergfors.
  9. Why do you have so much stock in Bergfors and Oduya, Manta? Oduya has been quite bad minus one end-to-end rush against the Hurricanes a year ago. He's noticeably softer on defense this year than ever before. Bergfors is good and all, but he's already 23 or 24 right? How much more real development does he have within this organization? He isn't going to be our future first-line RW. Also, where has he been 5-on-5 the past 2 months? So, I feel the exact opposite. These are the type of players you can do away with for a rental-caliber player like former #1 draft pick Kovalchuk. A player that has 31 goals in only 49 games so far this year. What's the Devils biggest glaring weakness right now? Scoring. I still don't truly believe the rumors until something happens. But this is all doable.
  10. This is from Lebrun at ESPN.com" "The Philadelphia Flyers, Boston Bruins, New Jersey Devils, Vancouver Canucks and Los Angeles Kings were believed to be still in the hunt as of Wednesday." http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=4884245 No one has any clue who's in other than the Kings.
  11. I mean, I totally agree. Historically for the Devils and Lou, this is a dead issue. However, with the current players at our disposal and looking back similar trades for a similar type of player it can be done. Wonder if the Flyers would consider dangling someone proven like Briere along with some young guy and a pick for Kovy. Now that is more bang for the Thrashers buck then anything the Devils could offer.
  12. Kovalchuk would most likely solve the Devils not scoring on the PP with 4 minutes remaining in that game however. Martin will replace Oduya in the lineup. Corrente/Murphy in the meantime while Martin heals.
  13. Hey I'm just modeling it after the Hossa and Dupuis for Armstrong, Christensen, Esposito and 1st rounder trade. In comparison, it's level IMO.
  14. Kovalchuk and Armstrong for Bergfors, Oduya, Zharkov/Palmeri and 2010 1st rounder. If they could take on Rolston too, that would be so awesome. I generally, but no always, like Rollie (main for his attitude and team play), but I'd look at it as the Rangers dumping Kotalik. Dumping a terrible contract for future cap space. Oduya's contract would be gone too if the past 25 games are an indication on how he'll be for the next 2 years. I don't think that should be out of the realm of possibility that type of package. Jason is right, prospects need to be moved. I think Lou has done a fantastic job of getting some of them adequate playing time this year to make them more valuable, and maybe this cap space buffer zone all year was for a deal for a player like this.
  15. Honestly, what a great speech. So humbling.
  16. You're going to have the same problem tonight. Go up to Boston for the night, I bet you can get the Devils game on there tonight. GO YANKEES!
  17. This is the article: http://brodeurisafraud.blogspot.com/2009/01/which-goalie-was-best-in-clutch.html
  18. He says this in this post: "This indicates that New Jersey's terrific one-goal game record is mostly from their ability to get ahead and hold onto the lead. The Devils outplay the other team early, get a lead, and then try to close out the game by protecting that margin rather than trying to extend it, a strategy that if successful leads to a lot of one-goal victories." Then says this in another post when comparing stats with teams Up By One Goal When Leading After 2: "The numbers show that Brodeur, Belfour and Roy all benefitted from teams that were very good at counterattacking when in the lead. Brodeur had a very good save percentage, although the Devils had the best shots for/shots against ratio and probably were mostly outplaying the opposition even while ahead late." Both posts claiming Brodeur not to be that good. But one says it's when the Devils sit on a lead to protect. But the other stats while the Devils are still outplaying and counterattacking the opposition when with the lead in the 3rd. Sounds like this guy is a fraud instead. Or some lonely Flyer fan with no direction or friends in life. I tend to like stat analysis from a Professional, not some waste with another motive.
  19. It just seemed like this was going to happen when Elias came back, so they probably sat down and decided it wasn't wise to wait till then to make the call. Just get it over with now. I'm pro Halischuk and Bergfors making this team and getting a chance. Not so pro-Pelley, but he'll probably be sent away once Elias comes back to free up a center position. Good luck to ya Shanny! It would have been cool to have you around longer, but the kids definitely deserve a chance.
  20. Capitals Penguins Bruins Flyers Devils Habs Hurricanes Senators
  21. Powerplay quarterback that's cheap. I love this. Excellent pickup. Low risk, very high reward.
  22. Jan.29 - Leafs Then a game with the Kings on the 31st Then a home and home with the Leafs AGAIN Then the Rangers at home Then a home and home with the Flyers Very cool part of the schedule!

    So, Who's Left?

I'd love to take a chance with Moore. I thought he looked good in Toronto.
