  1. I believe a RW is in order at this point. Center is definitely not a strong point, but look at that RW corp, it's pretty awful. Who knows if Langenbrunner will have the same year (probably not AS good) and the rest aren't good for more than 15-20 goals each.

Kovalev would be awesome on the right side, if he is willing to sign a one year deal, and it isn't over $4mill, I'd take it.

Also, Dominic Moore really intrigues me. For some reason I feel like he could turn out to be a very decent player. Does he play the wing, or is he just a center?

  2. For those bashing Colin White:

1.) He plays on the number 1 PK unit.

2.) He played against opponents top lines and was still +18

3.) He only had 46 PIM last year

4.) Had over 100 hits and bloacked shots.

What more do you want from him?

Watch the Carolina series and about 85% of his career.

He will never be able to control his temper, and his bonehead idea to go run Chad LaRose on Staal's winner with 30 seconds left is just another example of his inability to be smart. After one of the other goals that game as well, Mottau and Brodeur were conversing with him in a manner basically asking "Where the fvck were you?" Only Scott Niedermayer as a D partner can make up for his mistakes. Unfortunately he's long gone.

And to answer your question, I want NOTHING more from him. In fact I want a lot less from him. I want Brent and especially Lou to realize he is not capable of being #1 PK Unit. Not capable of playing against top lines. He's borderline 3rd pairing. Have him play against some scrubs that also have a short fuse so maybe when he's on his way to the penalty box for running someone, that person will turn out and whack him so the penalties offset.

  3. Please don't have Colin White on the 1st pairing. How Lou is still so high in this extreme waste of ice is beyond me. He's got to finally go. He will never be able to control his temper, and will continue to go out of position to get "revenge".

  4. Salvador is a huge loss for sure! He has been exposed lately, but he is still a tough guy.

HOWEVER, if Leach can play a stretch of games like he did in December, he's a very good replacement and we aren't sacrificing size.

  5. I already have a great feeling about Game 5.

The Devils know when they want to flat out turn it on, they can fluster the sh!t out of the Canes and they have no answer. They'll cough up pucks, skate around aimlessly, and miss their passes altogether. Sure it's 2-2, but it's really practically over if we had their luck.

That or just throw dump-in type shots at Ward and have him let up easy rebounds for us to collect up. The obvious thing I'd like to see is more bumping of Ward. The minute he gets set, just back into him. It's a guaranteed goal, just rewind 30 minutes to get proof of that.

And what's this no crashing the net bullsh!t? Shanny's goal was a perfect example of going to the net and finishing off a nice shot from Little G. Zajac's OT winner was crashing the net and cashing in as well. Langenbrunner's goal in Game 1 was a great dish by Parise and then him and Zajac crashed the net to set it all up.

Brodeur stood on his head to keep them in it, for one to fault him is useless to society.

  6. THE HURRICANES AREN'T A GOOD TEAM! Like any team in a 7 game series, they control the play from time to time. BUT THATS IT. They haven't dominated a game like we did in Game 1, or have they been as dominate as we were in the 3rd period tonight! They are just a bunch of lucky pieces of sh!t.

Their only wins have been absolute GIFTS! Game 2, gift. Tonight, obviously a gift.

They are a 1 man team (Staal, who does NOTHING BUT WHINE LIKE A LITTLE fvckING BABY AND DIVE) and a bunch of scrubs. All garbage scrubs. Chad LaRose, huge loser. Staal, I don't even know how he scores goals. He's a sorry excuse for a star player on ant team. Joe Corvo is possibly the worst defender this side of Ken Klee. Pitkanen is all skating and nothing else, and has Euro-muscles (cross-checking). Brindmour is washed up news. And all the other no-namers are nothing.

We are the much better team. Even Ward hasn't played well the past 2 games! Marty-Part 2 isn't so much.

We aren't losing this series. Book that sh!t.

  7. I don't have a good feeling about the status of Langenbrunner, BUT the guy is a warrior and could be strong enough to power through it. From the replays and such, it definitely looks like a groin or a tweaked/twisted knee. It feels like Langenbrunner probably won't be 100% again in these playoffs, which will be a pretty big problem at some point.

Now if we need to go without him, I'd like to see these lines:

    Parise-Zajac-Gionta

-Gionta and Langenbrunner play a similar gritty type game, except Langs is more physical. But obviously that line (ZZ Pop) loves to cycle down low, and Gionta is the best NATURAL fit at keeping that. Little G still has an effective shot, and he does bring more speed than Langs. Parise and Little G on rushes could be dangerous together. He seems to be the best seamless fit without a drastic game plan change.

    Elias-Zub-Rolston

-I like keeping Elias and Zub together. I've said this since the beginning of last year (07-08): they have really good chemistry. Zub is a complement to Elias' game. Rolston has played RW before, and it's time we bring him out of the cellar of the 4th line and give me a CHANCE to be a difference. He's gotta bring it though. He definitely needs to move his feet more and not be so conservative.

    Pando-Madden-Shanny

-I know Sutter will not breakup this line, but if I had any sort of feeling he would, I'd put Shanny up in Rolston's place on Zub's line and put Rolston here. Shanny's touch and smarts are really awesome, and a bit undervalued with stone hands Pando. Madden has played a heck of a series so far.

    Ruppster-Holik-Clarkson

-The bangers. Holik needs to be smart. HOWEVER, I'd like him to throw his weight around on Pitkanen, Corvo and the rest of the awful Canes defenders in the corners. Someone needs to step up and get under his skin for the sh!t Pitkanen pulled on Parise and Little G last night (he gunned Parise at least 3 times) and I can't think of a better player for that job than Holik. PLUS, he can win faceoffs. Holik definitely needs to be smart out there. But in the same sense I think we are giving the 'Canes PP a little too much credit so far this series. At least 3 or 4 of their opportunities have looked exactly like the Devils PP from the beginning of time (with the exception of the 00-01 season).

On defense, I hope there's a strong consideration of putting in Greene for Havelid. And no not because of his failed attempt of playing goalie on the 'Canes OT goal, but because he just isn't the offensive threat we thought we were getting. He does nothing on the 2nd unit PP, and Andy Greene is much better with the puck. I can't even remember a stellar defensive stand or block from Havelid either, and that's Greene's downside. But if we aren't even downgrading in that aspect, then why not upgrade offensive with Greene in there?

  8. We must win Game 3.

Definitely not a must win. But winning at least one in Carolina in general is definitely a must.

Carolina dominated for stretches, but so did we. We could have easily have won this game too. And this is without our best line fully together for a period and change and the .2 second OT.

  9. Joe Corvo is probably the worst defender in the series, he needs to be exposed more.

If Langs is out for an extended period time and not 80%+, our chances are definitely weakened. It's not entirely a matter of missing his goals, but more so the chemistry and cycle of that line. Shanny and Rolston need to step up BIGTIME now.

  10. Seriously? That's what people take from this article, the jab at the parking lot?!

I mean, honestly it's one of the worst places to have a Cup celebration, let's be honest. Come on.

Parade down manhattan >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> meadowlands parking lot. That's just a fact.

But that parade won't happen anymore, it will be down Broad St. in Newark next and that's anything to be ashamed of. 1 billion times better than the parking lot.

  11. How Holik's penalty was a penalty is beyond me. That was a great hit right after Asham released the puck. Look at a hit on Brunette last night (where he was injured) and if that isn't a called penalty, then this Holik hit is surely not one.

And then Albert's leaves his feet to hit Pando isn't a penalty?

    Typical NHL.
