He was never against Kovy the player. He was against the trade because of the depth and lack of D he saw was the problem.

There was an undeniable possibility Kovalchuk would prove a morale drain and energy sucker. Manta was just holding out for some absolute HARD evidence that wasn't the case.and in the immortal Monkeys tune: Then he saw him score... now he's a believer!
