  1. I like Fitz and his demeanor, but the way I see it, is that Fitz didn't work the phones(by his account) on Coleman. He basically had something that is now more coveted then previous pending UFA's at the deadline: a rediculously cheap overperforming contract under control for 1 more season. It doesn't hurt that Coleman is a very good versatile player and REALLY fits the needs of Tampa. Maybe a more experienced GM gets even more as rediculous as it sounds. Greene's deal is 100% based upon Lou being the GM in Long Island. That 2nd round pick many believe is overpayment is more of Lou wanting what Lou wants. Fitz had zero leverage here and if Lou didn't have that extreme comfort level with Andy then that offer isn't there. Lou knows that 2nd isn't as valauble to a contending team, especially considering it means they can aquire a guy that is perfect to come in and play a strict structure it is him. Signing him next year could be on his radar as well. I like Fitz, but are the returns Fitz or circumstance? I am interested in seeing how good he is with his remaining moves before next Monday.
  2. Not sure where to stick this...
  3. In discussing captaincy I rarely find people know most of the responsibilities of being a Captain. Curious to hear who you think should be Captain and why....
  4. I am surprised they just didn't bump him down to Bingo. Not really sure what this does other than makes it look better to the masses. I guess the payroll doesn't really go up either. Still a nice troll job I think to those who really wanted John gone...

  6. I didn't take it that way at all, unless you are saying Ray recognized that Taylor is setting this initial timeline. Ray has zero leverage and he is at the mercy of what Taylor ultimately decides what he wants to do. Taylor is just gonna come out and tow the line during the pre-season and say he is focused on winning now and not thinking about the future. At some point Ray will have to give him an ultimatum. Ray just needs to decide when that will be...my guess is the late December or January and possibly at the trade deadline if Shero gets no solid offers. I would move him in October if a nice deal materializes, which probably won't happen. Although with all these RFA's out there..it makes it interesting.,
  7. Got this from another site- it works-easy to do if you REALLY want to watch-here's a built-in VPN if you use the Opera browser (you have to enable it from the settings). Seems to be working fine.
  8. Does anyone have a stream...I am outside the Devils viewing area and I guess it is blacked out??? So weird.

    2018 UFA Thread

The bigger question is how do you get access to those stats.
  10. I don't think JT and Hall would be that good together. I think Tavares meshes with a guy like Palms. I know Evander Kane plays the left too but that is the type of player I see with Hall. This off season is huge for Ray. Hopefully we won't be disappointed. John Carlson would be a step in the right direction, however I wonder how he will look without the forwards he has in Washington. I am willing to find out. If not we can always see what Eric Gelinas is doing.
  11. Totally agree on the social media. Lou had his MO for doing things. He got results. As far as that leading it to being a financially successful franchise that could certainly be debated. This franchise has been fighting to survive from day 1. I am absolutely amazed that a team could be put in this market in 82 and survive. We are still far from out of the woods IMHO. These owners scare me since they are professional liquidators. Let's hope they see a decent ROI(or writeoff) or fall in love with owning this team.
  12. This organization was cash strapped and on the verge of bankruptcy. They were borrowing money from the league and Andrew Barroway. Players were concerned about getting paid. They literally had a yard sale during the season in the depths of the Rock selling anything they could get a buck for. So yeah, there are consequences of being a money losing franchise...no marketing budget, Parise never really considering signing here, encouraging Kovy to go home and the inferior retirement ceremonies.(according to you)
  13. Does anyone think that he may be pissed with the emphasis that was placed on Elias on staying with one team? Seemed very repetitive.
  14. Yes, what a game, I did forget about that...however, I was really wondering how well they know each other. Sometimes in youth hockey, when the top players forge quite a disdain for each other while growing up, so I am just curious if it is a positive or a negative in regards to their possible relationship. I guess when it is all said and done...the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ he is going to get can make that decision easier.
  15. You got to give to get. Fair trade by both sides. The xfactor to me is how the draft picks pan out. Even Blandisi to an extent. But this is a great move toward becoming the real deal. No way this team wins the Cup with the existing D corp as it was. Still some work to be done. John Carlson would be huge! Come home kid! I wonder if he and Palms know each other. Back to Rico...Anyone that was in the building for that Ranger killing goal was beyond fortunate. It still brings the hairs right up on my arms. It ranks right up there with me for all time fan moments and that even includes me being on the ice with the players after game 7 in 2003 Best of luck to Rico in Orange County. Blender probably has a permasmile, especially if he gets to go from Binghampton to Socal.
  16. Solid signing. Great hands, good on draws, and plays a tough game.
  17. Not so sure about that unless they have a deal in place not to take Rust. Pittsburgh needs Fleury to go away and would probably like to keep Rust.
  18. I bet you see draft picks going to Vegas in the next 3 drafts as opposed to this one.
  19. I believe Vegas can draft 3 goalies if they so choose.
  20. She's a really nice girl who isn't a bad hockey player either. I am sure she is excited to take on this next job and if you know anything about working for professional sports it is often best to work for a team that ins't your favorite because the day to day can sour you very much on the team. I highly doubt her Philthadelphia background will taint her capabilities to do the job. It's also nice to see a person that works hard get to a spot like this. Is it October yet?
  21. I never hear of RFA's being pursued, but I think it should be explored. Yes, I know you have to give up some picks to do so, but depending on what the next few drafts are, it could make sense to poach a guy that has some track record and is fairly young. The draft is such a crap shoot and with some teams up against it could be a way to get a few players that could help turn the team around.
  22. Isn't that site just basically fans doing the writing?
