  1. Another could of small sample sized tidbits. In games that Todd Cordell watched Speers in the playoffs had a 35% OZone start and a 63% SF% with 100% controlled zone entry. This is only 3 games but very promising, I would love to see tyler Toffoli type breakout next year. 100+ points
  2. Judging how fast he already skates with those twigs. We may have a sleeper moving forward here. Compare the pictures from last summer to now, this kid exploded.
  3. I believe they are another tier down from these two. Still very very good forwards, very strong top 10 emerging for this draft.

    2016 Draft

Might as well start up this thread, I am doing a little advance research on the 2016 draft and man if NJ can get one of the top 2 forwards I will be some happy. Jesse Puljujarvi - This kid if developed properly could be an absolute beast in the NHL. He is 6`3 200 with excellent NHL speed and an NHL shot. A lot of people may be saying, well that is basicly Zacha. Puljujarvi moves laterally east to west better, creates scoring chances better and shoots a lot more, offensively I see Ovechkin and Finnish players seem to buy into defense/systems a little better than Russians. Austin Mathews - Posted better numbers than Jack Eichel at same age, destroyed under 18, destroyed USHL and was OK at under 20. Has elite speed, size and offensive instincts. Drives the net and shoots from everywhere. I'm not sure how he develops as a center, maybe similar to a Stamkos type player.
  5. https://instagram.com/p/6KsTERLva0/ The guy is massive, I'm not sure if I like this or not. Very little room for maturity physically.
  6. Just diving through the stats one thing that Zacha and Spears have going for them is lack of ice time. Zacha was between 3rd/2nd line minutes with Sarnia last season in junior. Spears had roughly 2nd line minutes. Another thing Zacha didn't have going for him is 2nd assists, he had twice as many 1st assists as second. if both are around the 23-24 minute mark this year I expect both to be near the leaders in the league in points.
  7. A lot of people feel he maybe a 50 point player throughout his career like Landeskog or Barkov. There is one key aspect to Zacha's game that will nearly guarantee him 10G20P on the PP each year and that is his shot, mainly his onetimer. From all the video I have seen it appears his one timer is very transferable instantly to the NHL. So even if he is a safe 40 point ES player with the PP he should be pushing over 60 points most seasons. http://hurricanes.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=771898 Look where a shot took Peter Sykora, now think if Sykora was 3 inches taller, 30 pounds heavier. His skating is likely as good as Sykora's as well. This kid will be a waste at center however.
  8. Only 10 years after I originally had the idea to have skill coaches work year round. Excellent move for the Devils, fresh type of thinking indeed. Spend money on development/scouting.
  9. So you think NJ won't score any goals on the PP? They have Gelinas and Severson on the point so most likely some unsung hero will have a career year playing on the PP. If Schneider plays like next year NJ will be outside top 5.
  10. Zacha will not develop as a franchise player playing as an 18 year old.
  11. Mike Cammallerri - Travis Zajac - Stefan Matteau Adam Henrique - Patrik Elias - Kyle Palmieri Tuomo Ruutu - Jacob Josefson - Jordin Tootoo Stephen Gionta - Sergey Kalinin - Blake Coleman Danius Zubrus, Reid Boucher Andy Greene - Damon Severson Eric Gelinas - Adam Larsson John Moore - John Merrill Vojtech Mozik Cory Schneider Keith Kindkaid This is a pretty big fast roster top to bottom. Pavel Zacha will benefit from dominating the OHL before making the jump next season.
  12. In what world is Moore not given a spot this year.
  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gf-MydqiMVI holy sh!t this kid has some speed. I watched a shift by shift of his game and his highlights. Could very well turn into a Darren Helm or better.
  14. He is simply too old school, you need to match your eyes with the stats these days. Possession is possession.
  15. Cammalleri - Zajac - Matteau Henrique - Elias - Palmieri Rutuu- Josefson - Zacha Gionta - Zubrus/Kalinen -Tootoo
  16. For all we know that kid was selanne and he ended up buying tons of expensive cars.
  17. I want him to center the 2nd line.
  18. Same age and Elias might of been part of that veterans click that made coaches life tougher than it had to be. Very outspoken as well.
  19. It will be interesting to see how Elias meshes with this staff.
  20. If we can trade down to 9 and still get Barzal i'm all for it.
  21. i have a sneaky feeling NJ is much better than people predict and make the playoffs.
  22. As far as I could see John Hynes had two pretty subpar Penguin teams at 51.5% Ozone close the last two years. He has had a pretty subpar PP in the bottom 3rd of the AHL while his PK is middle of the pack. Lets hope assistants have a bigger say in special teams at the NHL level.
  23. There is no way Merrill is 6`3 based on this photo.
