  1. Fitzy talked highly of Casey, and that he has no problem “overcooking” him in the AHL until he and the team are ready.  I get the sense he’s hoping to use him for cap flexibility in 2026-27

also disappointed he couldn’t slide Nemec a year because of Hamilton’s injury / and his superb play filling in.

  2. Biggest takeaway from the presser for me was about the 10OA.   All the potential offers were 10OA+asset for X and he didn’t like them over getting another great prospect with how the draft played out.

Fitzy liked the “6’7 D” (Silayev) but seemed like he was kinda leaning toward the “Finnish center” Konsta Helenius (went to Buffalo at 14), but Dan MacKinnon was absolutely for Silayev

moveable in the late years if needed

It’s still nice to see ownership not afraid to pay up with that cash up front.   That hasn’t always been the case for this franchise and I just wanted to note my appreciation for it now.

Does Okposo get his name on the cup? 6 games in the regular season and 17(?) games in the playoffs

Yea, the requirement is 41 regular season games played  OR just 1 playoff game.

Obviously there's nothing wrong with old people but this club has literally always been nothing but a vast majority of old people

In general, that’s my perception of fan clubs.  I think the last fan club I was apart of was the BK kids club in like 1993?

Well I am pretty sure he won't end up in Buffalo. :whistling:

  7. Goaltending is so fickle.
We should absolutely go out and find an established veteran goalie, but I really don't want to sell the farm with multiple high picks and prospects to try to catch a hot goaltender.

I believe Holtz ceiling is a defensive liability, 35ish goal scoring winger...   bench him on the PK, but have him out there early to score the first goal.
It is possible for the Devils to score first.  I've seen it.    And obviously, when we're down by a goal.

Depending on the offer, of course, he can be traded.  He isn't untouchable.   But I would prefer to send a pick out instead of him.

we had a few teams that did not participate and we might have to find some new managers, but we can discuss this come August

I'm shocked that the team who acquired Matthew Tkachuk and Evan Bouchard for trash... won.
That's the day I quit the league.

Very flawed team, but I will never forgive Fitz for allowing Lindy to plague this team as long as he did.

We would've had a chance with an Allen-level goalie and a fresh mind behind the bench.

Fitz reportedly tried to trade for Allen earlier in the season but Allen rejected the idea and had us on his NTC list.  He didn't want to leave a 3 headed situation to be another 3 headed situation with VV/Schmid.

I'd love to see the NHL adopt exactly what the PWHL is doing with the "gold plan" to determine draft order. Just imagine how much more fun a game like last night's Sharks/Blackhawks game would be?

Anyway... here's The Athletic's consensus big board, I only snipped the top 15 players. Full article here (pay wall): https://theathletic.com/5298573/2024/02/26/nhl-draft-2024-macklin-celebrini-defensemen/

You can never have enough dmen...  but they also are a crapshoot to develop plus extended development time.
Barring a 1OA lotto pick, I'd be OK trading it for the right goalie.
