Yeah no matter what they have to ride the Binnington wave. he's the one they have committed to for years so it would be hard to stick with Husso when he,s a UFA on top of that.

Only goes to show how unpredictable and inconsistent goalies are

Yeah, they are just gonna have to hope Binnington can figure it out. Crazy how good he was last night. It was like it was the 2019 run all over again.

  2. I’m not sure who watched last night, but Binnington has been great since taking the starting job back from Husso and was absolutely fantastic last night. It’s gonna be very interesting to see how St Louis plays it with those 2 this offseason.

Like I said before, I think secretly plenty of other owners, who have the power to do something, aren't doing or saying anything.  They just don't want to be fending for themselves if they are ever in a similar dire situation.  It's all a big play.

The league has a history of helping teams in trouble. In the last 20 or so years I can think of Buffalo, Pittsburgh, our team, I think maybe Dallas at one point? But this is above and beyond. It’s just silly.

Oh the whole intimacy thing might be cool, but as mfitz said, strictly as a one-time novelty...not as what constitutes "normalcy".  The circumstances that led to this actually become a thing for an NHL hockey team are not remotely cool.  This is a joke.  As we've seen, hockey doesn't work everywhere (see Flames and Thrashers, Atlanta)...stop trying to make it happen in Arizona.

Devils are fully set on Ruff or Dineen.  If you would have asked me 3-4 months ago about Dineen I would have been on-board with him.  Now, not so much with how Utica has been playing the last few months.

I’m not sure we can blame Dineen for all of that. It had to be impossible to keep that early season momentum and chemistry when Jersey took half their roster for most of the season.

I think Ruff is still the coach next year though. Fitz doesn’t seem like the type to take any kind of risk and sign a better coach unless one lands on him.

Is that even possible?  Now you can only move up a certain number spots even in the event of a lottery win, IIRC.

Oh I forgot they changed it back. Like when we won the lottery to move up to #4 the Larsson year?

I don't legit hope for this to happen.

But the thought of the plot of Sudden Death happening during a Rangers - Cane game and that Van Damme happens to be off that day makes me smile.

That is a great reference. I still remember watching that one in theaters

Actually how sure are we that Domingue wasn’t just Van Damme in the wrong place at the wrong time?

    Yup, missed it.

Right. As in “Do you think we can dong Gaudreau this off-season?”

I’d like to but I’m worried that Philly will swing in and dong him up long term.

Getting back to goalies Bill Guerin said today that they are looking to keep both Fleury and Talbot as their tandem for next year. They also donged Jesper Wallstedt to his ECL.

Obviously it's not a done deal, but that could be one more name off the UFA market in the summer.

Also ready that Toronto are trying to sort out their roster for next year and have made some intial offers to their UFA's. One of which was Jack Campbell. Rumour has it that Dubas offered him $2.75 million a year, which is a massive low ball. This could potentially push him towards the exit. However in his exit interview he has said his priority is remaining with the Leafs.

Bolded is either my new favorite auto correct or my new favorite verb for signing players.

Campbell says that’s his priority but 2.75 isn’t gonna come close. Fitz has to be looking at him and Husso this offseason

Letang has always been a way better dman than Subban though. Dman that are "smart" tend to be able to play longer and still be effective.

Not saying we should sign him but i doubt we'd see a fall of a cliff similar to Subban with him.

Letang's agent is now GM in MTL though, so there's a pretty big chance he signs there if he does leave Pittsburgh

I can’t see him wanting to come here, but I’d certainly kick the tires. 2-3 years of Hamilton-Letang-Severson on the right side would be pretty cool. Our right d depth is pretty non existent outside of Walsh unless im missing someone.

I looked up Letang’s age just in case he would be a good PK replacement, and I would not want to offer him a 3 year deal at age 35-36.

Yeah I was interested too seeing how he played so many big minutes against the Rags. But after watching Pk fall off, I’m not sure about the risk. He did put up almost 70 points though. Nothing to sneeze at.

Malkin’s always missed his fair share of games for several years now, and that trend has only gotten worse in recent seasons.  I wouldn’t be all that eager to sign up for his Age 36-38 seasons either.

This may be sour grapes, but he didn’t seem like he was at the top of his game against the Rags. I can see why Pittsburgh might be done with him.

And interesting to see wtf we do if he is still available.

Very true. Although I do wonder if this is one of those things where they try to make the draft more interesting, like when they said Kakko was impressing people and could go ahead of Jack or when suddenly people were reporting that Tampa might not take Stamkos.
