The Swiss always seem to get spectacular goaltending performances. I remember Gerber and Aebishcer having some great games on 2006. Hiller showed why Giggy became so expendable. He could be one of those goalies that can steal a playoff series.

True dat. You may not agree with what he says all the time, but at least he didn't give the typical between periods "we just have to keep working hard and put shots on goal and put the puck in the net" interviews.

Dude... calm down. Any American competition is going to take precedent over hockey on American networks. And any sport that is running long will be shown to it's conclusion before they cut away. If Belarus-Finland went long, they would have shown the conclusion and then cut to skiers throwing darts or whatever the hell was next in progress. Some people want to watch curling. It is only really on TV once every 4 years. It generates a lot of buzz when it's on, and they aren't going to cut away for preliminary round hockey for 2 foreign countries when there's an American curling game or match or whatever it's called on.

I find it more entertaining because it opens the ice up and gives players more room. Then again, I'm sure the more room cuts down on the physicality, and I wouldn't like that. I guess it matters what kind of game you are looking for. On a larger rink, there are going to be more speed-based plays and rushes, while here there is much more dumping the puck and working down low.

I wanted a Brodeur 29 for the longest time, but I have a feeling a lot will be getting that. I got an Elias at Devils Den, and I'll get a retro player some time this summer.

The NHL would never reduce seating capacity for a more entertaining game. As for GM place, it was built in the 90's, so I don't think the Olympics had anything to do with it.

I think those 4 were only listed since they are the big names that will be FA in June 2010 or 2011. That being said, I think most people are pretty realistic on just what Clarkson brings to the team. No one is expecting him to ever be a top player in the league, but he has value to a team like the Devils.

As much as I'm a fan of the team game with everyone contributing on defense, and Kovy kind of goes against that, there are so few chances to get a player of his caliber. I really think that, as long as it won't cost us Parise in the long run, Lou should put every effort into keeping him. Problem is, with Rolston and Pando on the books, it doesn't really seem possible. Pando can be buried, but I don't know if Lou would do that to him. Rolston could only leave if some GM out there owes Lou a favor and takes him in a trade.

He's one of the few who will get in front of the net on a powerplay, or any other time. And what's so bad about a tough winger who hits, fights, and has the potential for 20 goals a year?

I picked up an Elias one tonight. I e-mailed an online jersey site that said they are expecting to have these in May, so I'll prob get a retro player then. Where were the retro tees? I didn't notice them.

No, not a guy who gets his # retired. I liked Sarge, but I liked Lemieux, Terreri, McKay, etc. Doesn't mean they should have their numbers retired.

I was there, too. They kicked someone out last Friday, and they looked like they wanted to again this time.

He would be Devils property as of the trade. I don't know if either team would make a trade that could back fire that night, though.

I think I'm going to pick up an Elias tonight, and then get a former player this summer, probably someone from the 88-89 team.

Well, some possible good news for the superstitious ones. I'm bringing my friend to her second game tonight. The first game was the one where Parise scored 2 and ended his long goal-less drought against Atlanta. Maybe she can bring the same luck for Kovy... Either way, lets go Devils!

It was funny, but an absolute re-writing of history, Toronto style. They brought in Toskala, who did very well in San Jose, and put him behind a HORRIBLE team. That town is a goalie killer. Former Calder Trophy winner Raycroft is a shell of what he was in Boston after playing in Toronto. Also, I am not at all a fan of Allaire's coaching. It is an incredibly boring style. And as for the comment about not playing inside the net, that is actually part of the Allaire teaching. He tells his goalies (like Lundqvist) to keep their heels on the goal line and not to cut down the angle. Watch Giguere or Lundqvist. Every shot is the same save... giant pads into a butterfly.

I'm wondering if the Devils will try to move the Lowell Devils to Albany. Apparently the city still wants a team there, and from what I recall, the only reason the Devils left was because they actually wanted to own their AHL team.
