  1. Looks like maybe no. http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?articleid=34127...mp;service=page
  2. When Brodeur lets in a goal by Henrik Lundqvist in the bottom of the ninth with two outs and Johnny Oduya takes off his helmet and shoots it into his own net.
  3. Well the fact that that was a shutout was the most disappointing thing about that game. There were some chances, but they were definitely not so good. To blame that game on Marty would be unthinkable. He played great. With every game I've watched, I've always been really worried when a halfway decent player got a decent chance, because they were scoring. But in this game, he had some great stops on Jagr, Drury, and even Gomez. The Dawes goals weren't amazing, but there's no way the game was on him. Brookbank was playing really well. He's the first defenseman to have taken shots this season that looked like they could go in. Vishnevsky was really great too with some thundering hits and some pressure as well as some shots. Rachunek, however, looks like the one that should have been pulled for Brookbank. Beyond his stupid pass to give them the go-ahead-goal, he couldn't win draws and just looked so clueless with the puck. Oduya wasn't great, but he drew a penalty and had some scoring chances, so it was better than average at least. Martin played okay. As for our forwards, there was very little coming from Zach Parise and Brian Gionta unfortunately, and I couldn't completely tell why. A lot of it looked like it was because there were just a lot of oddly-placed line changes that eliminated the possibilities of shots, which were so rare. Elias and Zubrus weren't horrible, but neither of them had any highlight plays to speak of. Asham wasn't the caliber he's been playing, but I cut him some slack because he's given us a lot since we acquired him for hits. Pandolfo and Madden the only ones with scoring chances, but easily saved by Lundqvist, who gets the easy shutout. There were no shots that really should have gone in, and I feel as if we could be playing against any goaltender and the result would have been the same. I'm just really tired of seeing some of the problems with last year leak through to our strategy this year. We are still doing dump-ins when we should be pursuing the puck, but sometimes we pursue too much and lose it and give the defense a chance. And that looks like it will go away when we finally work out the kinks of this system. But unfortunately the problem here looked to be our power play and PK. We had three and couldn't convert on any of them, and most of the time they'd be spent bringing it in, having it dumped back in, picking it up in the back of the net, waiting for a line change, and trying again. We had what, one shot on the PP? And on the penalty kill, they were given too many shooting lanes, too many times when we were caught out of position, causing some nice saves by Marty or as we saw in the third, a goal. So overall...I just want them to go home...
  4. Sec 230 Row 5, wearing a red Gionta jersey.
  5. If you want one specifically near the airport, you can try the Sheraton Newark: http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/pro...?propertyID=796
  6. Yes, I believe in the 2007-2008 season preview for the Devils they said it was tied for the longest in NHL history.
  7. Glad to see he'll play, I'm at least curious to see what he can do. And it looks like those line changes are really the ideal. Elias and Zajac have been working well, and I know Elias and Asham have worked well together as well. Of course the Gio-Parise-Zubrus line will work, combining speed, playmaking and physical aspects. And of course Madden and Pando are unstoppable lately. Hopefully they knock off Oduya and it looks like this team will be in good shape for Thursday.
  8. Oddly enough the only people shooting from the point were Martin and Elias.
  9. Well, looking over the game. Zubrus' "goal" makes me feel a little better about the big picture. I liked seeing Parise again being a real playmaker. The D was just no good. Rachunek and Oduya weren't any good, Vishnevsky wasn't playing as well as normal but he was the only visible defenseman. Brodeur had some nice saves but Biron was unstoppable. I really wish Gionta would step it up a bit to make up for Zubrus being so slow and us depending on him. Elias has been really impressive lately. We just...need to work on this game a little more before we get it right.
  10. A good gesture to say the least. But last year we caught a Prego guy outside CAA with a box of Devils plastic cups. Along with our years of multitudinous playoff cups, I think we're good on Devils drinkwear. But gifts from Tiffany's are appreciated at least.
  11. Wow. I was skeptical about their true progress...but the only things missing right now are brand names everywhere. The seats (even the nose-bleeders) look very nice unsheathed and I'm glad to see what the restaurant and its views look like finished. can't wait.
  12. Brodeur was the thing that impressed me about this game. Glad to see Madden, Asham, Pandolfo and Zajac rackin' them up, but Brodeur was really standing on his head and had some knockout saves on this highly offensive team. He covered well, and compared to the so-so Fleury, he gained a little back of what we normally see out of him. The times he got beaten were not really bad goals, and three of the four were power play goals. Without so little defensive support, if we see at least this much out of Brodeur for the remainder of the road trip, I think we could pull 10 points. And it's interesting--we knew Parise was good but he's really playing well. He's being a real playmaker, and along with Zajac and Elias, this is turning into much more of a team. And the way he's able to capture the zone and skate around players reminds me of a certain player who formally played center for Gionta and Elias...can't recall his name though. But he's really great at keeping his cool, and that's why I hope that he gets the captainship next year or the year after. When Crosby took him out and stayed on him, he just focused on the play. And Asham would go on to punch him in the jaw. One of the issues I had though was us having the zone. There were a lot of times when a quick turnover sparked a real need for a block. Which is okay. But it reminded me of last year a lot when it would trickle into their zone and we would either change lines or send in one player. It seems like if we want a forechecking team, we need to tackle those opportunities. But I guess we need a sound D for that to really work...we'll see. But overall, good game. Weird game. Good game.
  13. Yeah I got them too...it was very odd. I also got the three jerseys I ordered today, so I got two Devils boxes...I mean, a good thing, but confusing. I guess they're a cool thing to have...
  14. doubt he uses any of his leg power for roundhouse kicks, just impossible pad saves.
  15. No idea. Probably just have to wait and see about that one.
  16. I'm not too worried, especially as high up as it is...but oh well. If not for security I blurred the last one for consistency
  17. That was really dumb. Oh well, at least I didn't miss a serial. Fixed now for what it's worth.
  18. Man those get me pumped. Looks like that's the floor minus ice. The logos just look a little funny. But I guess that's it. Man...this is gonna be good.
  19. Here, just got mine, made some pics. Blurred the serials and specific seats for security reasons. If you're in my section and want my row and seat, PM me. Just the tickets: The tickets, parking passes and booklets: Gets me so pumped: LETS GO DEVILS

If you're worried about trashy motels in Newark, the Sheraton right next to Newark Airport is nicer. Also pricier.
  21. I don't know if anyone goes on SomethingAwful.com, but they do a Photoshop Phriday segment, and this reminds me of this one: http://www.somethingawful.com/d/photoshop-...se-sleepers.php Where they put sleeping Japanese people into pictures. He's not Japanese, but still...
  22. Wow didn't see that. Congrats to Parise!
