  1. I'm glad the Avalanche still lost.
  2. Wow. They grow up so fast. Don't they???? Have a great day!!!
  3. This is one battered forum!!! Here's hoping you bounce back up like Sergei Brylin!
  4. make it hejduk and skoula and i have a lot of problems with rooting for this team. i do not want to root for the avs east.
  5. Skoula's really not getting the hang of the new penalty calls.
  6. Best wishes sent her way...
  7. Zero production, Dage? That's a bit oversimplifying. Yes, he's not scoring. But he's still effecting a lot of play on the ice -- whether it's on the penalty kill or assisting the pint-sized wonder on goals like the one that gave us a win over one of our favorite rivals. So I wouldn't deem it "zero." I certainly deem it low... and especially for him. We're used to him being our scorer on the top line and now he's setting up others while he works his own way out of the funk. But even if NONE of that was the case, I still would give him the benefit of the doubt, cause he was third in the league in scoring when he was making just about league minimum wage. And cause he was a key component to our postseason teams while making just about league minimum wage. And cause he's led this team in scoring three years while making just about league minimum wage. That doesn't buy him a free ride forever, but it certainly gives him some time to work his way out of a funk. Like I say, this is just Tanguay-Skoula news getting around to the Devils. I've heard them mentioned in regard to just about anyone. Who knows maybe it was a Burns slip set up to ruffle Elias' feathers? He's still sorting out the way the guy's mind works. And the last point is this. If the Devs are looking to keep putting the butts they have into the seats, they best not get rid of one of the few marquee names they have (to people outside the rabid following community we have here). Since he's still working hard and trying to break out of it, it seems wholly unrealistic to consider this deal from my viewpoint. He's one of the reasons they get my dollars. I won't be flying in near as much to see ex-Avs.
  8. Yep, it was last year. I really was pretty stunned by it.
  9. The worst game I've EVER seen fan participation-wise was in Dallas. If the Stars aren't leading, there's nothing. I'm quite sure the Devils heard us cheering for them from the top row in that beautiful, brand spanking new arena. I heard noise on Center Ice. I heard it for sustained pressure, I heard it for goals, I heard it for saves. I heard nothing in Dallas last March in a packed arena. Kudos to the 8,000 or so who WERE in NJ last night. I wish I was too. I already miss it.
  10. I don't care about the friggin' arena. I'm not there to go "ooooooh, this is pretty." I LOVE going to CAA!!!!!! And I will miss it when it's no more. But the economy is TOTALLY part of it. So if you can go to say... one game a month, I don't think an early-week Blues game is gonna get the nod.
  11. Who knows if more goal production would bring more bodies in? I tend to think not. The region is set. There are Devils fans... then there are those that root for those other longstanding teams. I like the Devils' style. I don't want to see them change. And frankly if they did, I don't think it would make much difference.
  12. There was some nice movement when Friesen went up to the Elias-Gionta line. That might be something if Friesen's energy is sustained. And, of course, the best way to do that is have success. Goals for everyone!!!!! I wanna see him crack his stick against some more boards!
  13. I think it was just the Devils' turn for the Tanguay-Skoula rumor.
  14. It's amazing how well we've been doing with all the struggles. But that's why this team is such a great TEAM. It's really awesome to see McKenzie and Stevenson score. Like I always say, on any given night, it can be anybody!!! EVERYBODY really earned that win last night. Those who didn't have points had great chances and strong pressure, played great D. Awesome games from Albelin, Stevens and Gomez in addition to those named stars. A shutout minus a No. 1 defenseman? Damn impressive.
  15. Just watched the game. There is a nice chemistry with Elias and Gionta. Sure could use a power forward on that line. When Friesen went up there, they got some nice chances. Maybe that deserves some cultivation.
  16. I think you're mistaking what I have to say about Gionta as well. There's no question he can do the job on the rush or off the rebound. What he can't do is cycle and sustain pressure in the offensive end, which is WHAT A TOP LINER MUST BE ABLE TO DO!!! I love him, I adore him. But please, we need somebody able to hang on to the puck when the defense comes a-calling. Not just to break whomever out of a slump. So that we are an offensive threat.
  17. Nope, I got it. That's one of my fave bits. Da Devs!!!!

    Photos!!!

Not for lack of trying. Digital photography is tougher than it seems. Not exactly point and shoot technology. And damn they move fast!!!

    Photos!!!

Hey my photo is your avatar!! I feel like a regular Ally. I just got a brand new digital camera. I had gotten some advice on them and went with what I thought I wanted and then I got an even better one. So of course I can't remember it right now and can't check. I believe it's a Sony quickshot or quicksnap. It's got 8x digital imaging, which isn't the best, but is pretty good.
  20. It is really wonderful to see. You think someone is a certain way and he'll stay that way. I know when my Whitey turning point was. Last year when he let Worrell use his face as a punching bag to protect his defensive partner. You're right. It IS grace. But I'm still calling my sis Mrs. Penalty.
  21. I was thinking good games from Nieuwy and Elias too... Maybe Burns' line-switching will put them together??

    Photos!!!

Too true. Well, I just got my January days off for the Panthers-Lightning game, so there will be more next month! Thanks for the good words. Esp. there's a glaring lack of Nieds.

    Clemmy's Up!!!

With Schwab sidelined, Clemmy's up to watch Marty play.

    Devils Dried Up

No. All three people on a top line are there to create for each other. Which is why the top defensive line of the other team is matched against them. Now when Gionta is knocked off the puck every time he tries to cycle, that doesn't help his line out. It doesn't matter who he's skating with, it takes away chances. I love little G, little J. But he is NOT a top-liner. Yes, he's doing very well finishing off the type of chances that he's not creating. And I'm sure we're ALL worried about Nieuwy.

    Devils Dried Up

Yes, he has been finishing. But the point is that he's not creating for that line. And that's what top liners need to do.
