  1. And that's why they should have him play center (he's done that before) or wing. He skates like Jack. Being that he's played mostly D, he has good D awareness. Let's see what he can do at Utica first before trading him -which should be a last resort.
  2. Fair points but he's still better than anyone on NJD bottom 6. W/C capable of playing (when needed) anywhere in the lineup- PP/PK (3shg), versatile, good shot & skater-does need to be better defensively but who on NJD doesn't? Water under the bridge now but we could use a guy like him on 3rd/4th line. Struggling defensively because Calgary has him as #1 center which is above where he should be.
  3. Wow what happened to the Jets? Fell off a cliff this week. They looked unbeatable a few weeks ago.
  4. Well we're definitely "fvcked"-but not in a good way
  5. AHL is more for developing players rather than to win the Calder Cup. Devs have graduated Holtz, Nemec, Daws, Shmid, Zetterlund, Shango in the last several years. Some teams do try to win the cup and add higher talent veterans-NJ usually doesn't do that so much. Dineen has done a good job with what he has-which is not much-especially this year.
  6. Maybe I should've said big and/or physical players. If a guy is 6' 3" even if he's not that physical he at least takes up more space and can defend and control pucks easier just because of his reach and if he's somewhat physical-even more of an advantage over smaller guys. All the good teams have bigger players than the Devils. They need to add some guys like: Geekie, Nick Roy, Hathaway, Poehling, Foegle, Ryan McLeod, etc etc. Those are some reasonably priced options. Fitz has to target some bigger players on other rosters and go after them. Upgrade from Haula, Palat, Tierney. etc. I think there's going to be a lot of changes for the forwards this off season.
  7. Men against Boys (again). Physically dominated. They ain't going anywhere until the get BIG and PHYSICAL players who PLAY HARD-especially forwards who can create space for Jack/Nico/Bratt. They don't need a hard nosed coach-they need hard nosed players.
  8. I don't know if anyone is an inferior opponent at this point.
  9. Hopefully they will see your post....so far I don't think they have.....
  10. Icelanders with another garbage point. Tied it in the last minute and lost in OT. Lots of rag fans in Pitt today. Pens frontrunners staying away now....lol
  11. Slasher is right. They need to add size, physicality, grit, compete. They are soft/weak/easy to play against. You don't want Jack to play too physical-it's not his game and he'll get injured again. He needs at least one 6'3" 200 lb guy who can skate and has some offensive ability on his line-like Morgan Geekie who the Bruins snapped up for nothing.
  12. Mercer is having a bit of an off year but he's an NHL player. He can skate, play a 200 ft game and has good hands. Holtz has an NHL shot but the rest of his game is AHL level. He's slow and soft, falls down a lot, loses his man, etc etc. He's done ok this year mostly because as a 3rd and 4th liner he's playing against 3rd and 4th liners. He's the kind of guy who can score 25 goals and be -30. I doubt he'll be on the team next year. Part of the general house cleaning that needs to happen.
  13. Torts with a game misconduct on the night they honored his 2004 Bolts team in Tampa....lol
  14. Laferriere -from Chatham, taken 1 pick before Daws in 2020....Should've traded up for him-big Devils fan growing up.
  15. Good move Fitz. Now go get 2 more monsters. How about those guys with the glasses who like to play Hot Wheels???
  16. Exactly. I'd prefer he play 4th line LW and drop Tierney (who's been not bad lately so I get it) and have Miller on D. Smith is in the lineup because if he's not and other than Toffoli (who can actually defend himself) then what you have is the New Jersey Ice Capades. Who's going to protect the figure skaters against Gudas/Johnston/McTavish?
  17. Yup. That's why we beat the rags last year. Two similar teams. They added muscle, we didn't, but we had young D coming up that needed to play. Devs actually set the bar so high they could never realistically repeat it+injuries not helping. I don't think people realize how much the Mcleod debacle affected the lineup. It's a shame-he was blossoming into a real force and even his offense was coming together. This year is not the year to go all in. Ride it out and make adjustments this summer. That's why I don't blame Lindy that much. He's got a bunch of offense only players-they really can't play a physical game-they'll get destroyed/injured.
  18. Because the flyers play hard, aggressive, big boy hockey - Devs don't have those type of players except maybe Tofolli and Smith. Timo was supposed to be but so far a big disappointment. They are easy to play against-no one is afraid of them-softest team in the league. All that "talent" doesn't mean squat if you don't have complementary players to go with it. No new coach is going to help this team until they add some size/muscle/physicality/etc to the skill they have. Guys like the one they ironically just lost- 6'2, fast, agressive/relentless. Fitz should sell, retool for next year. Even if they miraculously make the playoffs they'll be lucky to just win a game or two.
  19. Yup-but the reality is-the window is closing.
  20. Kings with a late shorty to beat Pit 2-1, as the spoiled, entitled Pens "fans" booed them (Pit) off the ice...
  21. Haha-Maybe she can glue herself to Buttman's gas guzzling limo...
  22. And what about all those "fire balls"??? Those are fossil fueled greenhouse gases!!! The NHL is destroying the planet!!!! Where's John Kerry????
