  1. I gave you an earthquake for a belated birthday present RD --- hope you enjoyed it! Seriously -- did you feel it today? and seriously - -Happy birthday!!
  2. dude - it's not a snow day for you, yeah?
  3. Yeah - I didn't need the "infected" question answered...now it looks like a big portion of the season will be devoted to that...oh well.

    Snow Wed...

see and I think this part of the storm is going northwest of Jersey -- the rain down south will go out to sea or crap out if it's supposed to be a Nor'easter in terms of wind direction seriously -- book it! Dog knows!

    Snow Wed...

I predict we get a light dusting... 2 inches max Snow to the left and snow to the right but we'll be in the basically snowless pocket! Book it!
  6. Jerry - part of me agrees with you too -- these hits are out and out dangerous. The fact it's one guy choosing to hit another like that is disturbing... but to me it's equally as disturbing when gymnasts do these insane tricks and far too many amateurs end up para- or quadriplegics. Jockeys pushing each other around at high speed, close range on skitish animals that weight over a ton? Competition is messed up and impairs judgement... the hits aren't as bad as the poor dude falling unprotected to the ice. I dont know what to tell you...
  7. I can eat deer sh!t and not puke --- but that picture... man - enough to make a dog sick!
  8. Oh bullsh!t -- hits = good goonery = stupid. making someone answer for something is just nonsense - it never works for one thing -- someone tries to goon it up and gets a turtle and the Devils goon looks flacid and helpless and the team looks all the worse for a halfassed response. Or you get a Bertuzzi -- fights are fun but trying to prove something is counter-productive when it's premeditated -respond int he moment OK -- but work for a response and it's for sh!t and says nothing but poor discipline and stupid Flyers kind of goon mindset. The response is to score - to win the game and say it's all part of hockey. and Stevens ALWAYS followed through with the elbow rising. The Lindros hit had an elbow that rose that high after contact. The Karia hit was that "late" EDIT: OK he didn't actually always but minimally he'd shake the dude off his arm like he was a booger.
  9. OK -- I admit I haven't read many of the posts here -- it's latish -- but it's a nice one. Timing was undoubtedly off... but Stevens for sure could have gotten that off on a hit now and then...what can you do. I liked it. I did... sorry folks. My response is: suck it up -- it's part of the game. What was Salmela thinking? He wasn't is the thing of it....or he was and it was worth it to him...you know? I dont know what else to tell anyone who's all honked off about it. It's hockey
  10. YEah SC I sort of thought the same thing, but reached kind of the same conclusion NJdevs26 did. This team had too many cards in it's hand - but not any cards of certain value. GMs can get stupid too... they can say they want Parise for their marquee player - "it's only fair" but it's not - it's stupid... but they dont care because they don't want to deal with NJ - not literally not figuratively. I don't know why some GMs want to just trade headaches hoping some other guys trauma will work out for him. I sometimes feel like GMs won't make the trade that needs to be made because they don't want to be judged by the media. I'm not sold on Phaneuf - and I think the Sutters should have come to the Devils first with a real deal after the deep dicking Brent handed out. I'm certain their pride wouldn't allow reasonable dealings taking the past into consideration. That's the way all GMs are too. To me Lou does what's best for the team -- not his ego. I'm tired and blabbing...
  11. Well...actually...I'm a dog. So money is kind of irrelevant to me. Money isn't about money. The point of my tongue in cheek comment that started this little side branch wasn't about money either. Without reading the after-comments I edited in my opinion to that post- I'll say it again because your being idiotic calling a dog's off the cuff cracks idiotic. Kovalchuk isn't invested in anything emotionally except his family to a degree and having a pleasant life as a successful hockey player. He has no clue where it is he can be a successful hockey player - not Atlanta that's for sure. I think anyone will be a successful hockey player in Detroit - I think there are a lot of up and coming places. Jersey is tested and successful but it has it's drawbacks and the desire to win is NOT a selling point for the team at this point. He's going to have to enjoy the system and feel he's making a significant impact without bearing the entire load for the teams success. Detroit is where a guy like that belongs and it will take a lot of selling in a very limited time to convince this guy to sign. by the same token he'll have to impress the organization equally if he wants to stay. It's not about the finesse for New Jersey so... we'll just have to see.
  12. I'm one stupid dog... it never entered my wee noggin how many people would go nuts buying tickets just to see Kovalchuck! DUH?
  13. Spoken like a dude who knows no one with money, and has ZERO clue what it's like to have money oh yeah -- and has never been involved in any high stakes negotiating...
  14. Yeah -- I think he has an inkling --- but I'm not sure he's really remembered anything. I think there's 2 time lines too -- I think they're going to converge somehow - so that's probably the fun of this season. I loved Juliet's lines about coffee - I think she meshed into the other timeline... but thing of it is... this new time line with no plane crash -- I think everyone had better take it easy and survive there because I think that's the final destination when the on island story wraps. So just for example: if jack dies in the new timeline no matter how great he succeeds on the island it's curtains for his life. But maybe there will be some nice "come with me to a better place" moment or something for those we'd like to see at peace.
  15. No because I want to keep my house in Atlanta and get a second in Jersey... and the cost of living is WAAAAY higher here -- no his costs have gone up sooooo....sorry -- the ante is going to have to go up I'm afraid... it's just business. Right? Personally I think he sounds pretty low key. He's been a star so he needs no personal recognition. He's got a family - he'll want to chill. and he wants to play some decent hockey. Now does that mean Zach Parise kind of hockey? How does this guy feel about the game itself? I have no idea really. If I were him - with my line of thinking.... I think I'd like to put in 2 years in NJ just to see how it felt.... but if the Red Wings came knocking I'd go there hands down. If the Rangers came knocking I think --- it would be a lot of irritation/frustration that I just wouldn't need at this point in my career. Boson would be interesting.... I'd consider Anaheim - maybe Denver... I'd look at the Canes but probably not go there. I would not be sold on Jersey - but I'd enjoying dipping my toe in the water. If it was too much work and no one was listening no amount of money woudl keep me there. the team itself - the players - have the onus on keeping him here.
  16. I'd say it's -- awwwwe who am I kidding - Devils won hands down. The team has too many half way decent guys - the roster was stuffed with high mediocrity. I'm completely satisfied with giving those three up - I agree totally with Tri and Mitico. It sure beats the hell out of losing guys on waivers just because you've got to do SOMETHING to freshen things up. In seasons past I've felt so trapped by the A minus kind of roster. It's fine and top of mediocrity ALWAYS finishes on top in academia -- but in life they're just so fvcking BLAH. This team aside from Zach Parise has had ZERO star quality - nice solid work ethic - even tempered (maybe a lil chippy for hockey's sake) just so staggeringly top of mediocre -- and thus there's been ZERO opportunity to ditch anyone from the lineup. YUCK YUCK YUCK. I'm feeling the team is too homogenized. There's been nothin outstanding enough to really elevate them. I'm not sold on Kovalchuk doing that... but I'm glad to get rid of some of the mediocrity -- there's a little breathing room for players to emerge - not just drown in the ... the monotony of... the system We need a little of the self-loathing side of the system to kick in to wake this team up and get them edgy - playing with some fire -- I'm not sure Lemaire will allow that...
  17. Nice to see olp's return! I was actually think Jacque had grown some -- but only JUUUUST recently I started thinking you know - he's such a STUBBORN dude. It's like ... ok here is my really stupid analogy --- I'm a freak about buttering my toast - the butter has to be evenly spread edge to edge. So when I've got butter in the fridge I fvck up the toast insisting that I spread it evenly all over - you know hoe the toast gets all ripped and stuff -- but I can't NOT do it. Thats what I think about Jacques - he has to stick with the idea in his head - Zubrus has to pay center even if the team would be better off with him not... because the team needs balance even if they WIN with the balance a little out of kilter... I dont know -- it's just starting to bug me. The game has to rule the system and he's just WEDDED to the system at all costs - I think he can adjust the system I was pleased to see that -- but he just can't see the balance off no matter how great the results are.... that's what I'm thinking anyhow,
  18. This is EXACTLY what I was thinking - it's so Mogilny ^7^ -- it's the expected outcomes, not the exact deal. Maybe Lou can sort of relive it too - maybe correct any mistake he think he may have made... I think the outcome will be about the same though and I'm OK with that -- the trade was such that - you know, it's worth it.
  19. You know ... I had a feeling this was going to happen. If I hadn't kind of seen the truth to it I'd have been slamming the whole thing...I'm not sold on Kovolchuk, chemistry-wise. I'm cool with it. I'm luke warm on Kovulchuk - but I was less than luke warm on Bergfors, hmeh - rapidly cooling towards Oduya and I am really please we lose Cormier. I never even tried to explain away his elbow...I could have, I can see how he may have been caught in the moment...except that he wasn't - he was set perfectly to use his shoulder but chose just to knock the sh!t out of the guy. I'm so glad to be rid of that... I hate losing a 1st round draft pick but things have worked out well in the past so... Not thrilled but not too awfully cut up about it either.
  20. Welcome to Chicago Johnny - Devils offered you a little intangible you hadn't really appreciated, didn't they? in the words of Napoleon Dynamite "IDiot" No midlife crisis and nothing new from the Maddog... and a big reason I didn't mind his leaving. Flawed character - he's so needy in a way I just DO NOT get. He doesn't even want it to be real - he just needs I dont get it... I just dont get it. I hate it when I don't understand stuff. Dudes think this stuff is funny and "who cares?" you know, because they're not the ones doing this stupid sh!t.... I just feel so bad for him because it's so sincere a need - just WEIRD!!!
  21. I saw him play in Albany a few times. He looks great on the ice and he sees the game... so...so then... I have no idea why it never all fell into place for him. Because of his injury history I created a nice fiction that his body just couldn't hack the full commitment to play. He was continually on the brink. He seemed a very sincere player - you could see when he was feeling up to breaking out - and then there'd be an injury report so I decided when his love for the game overtook his fear of injury and he started to do what needed to be done he'd get hurt. My guess is he couldn't lead by example quite enough to be a trusted leader either so -- you've got a smart talented player who's instrument is poor quality - sadly he can't go out and buy a genetically superior body I'm not sure how he's compensated for that now - in fact I'd enjoy periodic reports from you letting us know! I'm thinking more about his on ice look -- he's very odd looking because he gets this dynamo look about him -- you can see all this power really centered but grounded in a weird way almost too contained, ready to explode....yet not deeply rooted enough, not enough gravity to really solidify all that power. Maybe that was always the problem - maybe he was just developed in a way that he overpowered his body -- he was just a fascinating player
  22. I'm not reading a bit of this crap. I understand the debate and I respectfully disagree with the minority opinion in the scientific community. I also know that Threestars has spent years studying meteorology. If you think you "won" some internet smack down, it's because you're too obtuse - by choice or act of God - I really dont care which - to see how flawed the entire premiss of your argument is. It seems to me you're saying "this research is right and this other research is WRONG! The fact that there is so LITTLE science backing up my opinion PROVES IT'S RIGHT!" I say it proves you're a MORON. and the very scientist your defending would think so too .. Yeah -- I'm an arrogant fvck soo... buhbye.
