  1. Maybe Lou did this just to fool the other GMs into thinking he's still senile after he pulled a (Swedish) rabbit out of a hat earlier today...
  2. Okay... I just thought about this, and here's the problem with trading Parise while he's pending arbitration... Parise has no contract. The Devils only hold his rights. But the only reason the Devils will still hold his rights come tomorrow is because the team filed for arbitration... without that case pending he would become a UFA. So if he were traded between now and the arbitration case, what would happen? Would the case still be heard? Would he automatically become UFA? Would the team have a chance to negotiate with him? It doesn't make any sense. Anyway, for a somewhat reliable source: @TheFourthPeriod Re: all these Parise silly trade rumors... First, they're bogus. Second, he cannot be traded until after his arbitration hearing, anyway.
  3. This Vancouver rumor broke the seal... everyone's talking about Parise, including Mr. 2.4%. Parise is rumored to go to: Toronto, Colorado, Chicago, "an eastern Canadian team", and even the freaking RANGERS.
  4. The boldest prediction in that list: "15) New York Rangers Will Make It Past Quarterfinals"
  5. "By Tom Urtz Jr (Rangers Featured Columnist)" That says it all...
  6. Just curious if anyone else caught this on Twitter... @Jordan_Bold CKNW 980 in Vancouver is reporting the Nucks have traded Hodgson,Schneider and Samuelsson to the NJD for Zach Parise. #Devils #Canucks @TSNBobMcKenzie Regarding VAN radio report on Parise to Canucks: fantasy. Someone's over-active imagination. Don't believe they're even talking at this pt. Just to set the record straight, Parise can't be traded because the team filed for arbitration.
  7. Updated: Martin Brodeur Stanley Cup Finals goals against: 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1, 5, 1, 3, 2, 4, 1, 3, 0, 0, 2, 0, 3, 2, 0. Roberto Luongo SCF goals against: 0, 2, 8, 4*, 0, 3*, 4 * pulled from game So Marty has 2 games in 24 with more than 3 GA and was never pulled. Luongo has 3 in 7 and was pulled from 2 games, one after 8 1/2 minutes.
  8. I did leave out the 2001 games... I don't know why... I blame the beer.
  9. If there's any question who's the better big-time goalie after this past Olympics... Martin Brodeur Stanley Cup Finals goals against: 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1, 0, 0, 2, 0, 3, 2, 0. Roberto Luongo SCF goals against: 0, 2, 8, 4*, 0, 3*, 4 * pulled from game
  10. The difference between the two is that Stevens started moving into Kariya while he still had the puck, while Rome didn't initiate his hit until after the puck was gone. In rulebook terms, the Rome hit is technically "late" because the pass completed and another player gained control of the puck, while Kariya still technically had possession of the puck since the pass had not yet completed.
  11. The difference between the two hits is that in the Stevens/Kariya hit, Stevens starts the motion into the hit before Kariya makes the pass. However tonight, Rome does not start the hit until the puck is already gone. He's skating backwards, Horton passes the puck, THEN Rome reverses direction to make the hit. That's a MAJOR difference.
  12. It was a bad play by Thomas, but not because he "came out too far". Notice how Burrows fakes a shot at the top of the circle. Guaranteed the reason he didn't pull the trigger is because he had no net to shoot at since Thomas was in good position. The fake shot froze Thomas, so he got caught flat-footed and had to make a desperation dive instead of a controlled move to the post. He dove right into Chara's path which caused Chara to lose his inside position. That's why the goal happened, not because he "came out too far". This is the NHL, not mite house league.
  13. God. Philly vs. Boston. Can we just drop a bomb on them or something?
  14. NBC played the "Matteau" commercial before the game today. I got the last laugh.
  15. This is ridiculous. You could write an article "Devils May Re-Sign Parise Long Term" and it would be equally valid.... it's just not as sensational.
  16. My favorite comment from HF: "This obviously ****in fixed. NJD? Yea ok..."
  17. Let this be the Devils' Dunkirk. I don't ever want to see a draft pick this high again in my lifetime.
  18. Also, the lottery only affects the first round; all other rounds use the original order.
  19. Man that is worded very confusingly. Basically, if you're 1-5 and you win, you get the first pick. Otherwise, you move up 4 spots.
  20. It has. We have the 8th pick. In 1999, Chicago won the lottery and moved from 8th to 4th. In 1995, LA moved from 7th to 3rd. Those are the only times a team outside the "top" 5 won the draft lottery since it started in 1995.
  21. Buffalo. Probably because I've been working a lot there lately and their fans are high quality.
  22. Pathetic rebound. Pathetic.
