Yup I thought it was an incredible event.. Really well planned, really well executed.. The food was unreal, can't wait to see the re-imagined concourses on Opening Night!
-
You might be right about recent events as many last season were last-minute planned, midweek dates that I couldn't get out of work to make.. I can tell you a few years ago my buddy bought a $40 ticket to an open practice with autograph session afterwards and at the door they simply collected the tickets in a giant bin lol

I mean it could always be different but in the past they've never even scanned the printed tix.. Ownership with a year under their belt might be more strict though, you never know

We were in Steamboat Springs and it was amazing timing because we got in 3 days after their only dispensary (at the time) had opened.. It's an interesting system Colorado has.. Very regulated.. All stores must grow their own and RFID tag everything.. The state has a computer system the shops use to log inventory in, and then log every sale to ensure they're only selling their own goods.. The system shuts off at 7pm so every day there was a huge line from 4pm on and people would get turned away.. We got there at 5:30 our first day and got turned away with about 5 people in front of us.. So many stores across the state were trying to make their final sales that the system kept freezing and then shut down at 7 to everyone's disappointment.. Didn't help that everyone wanted to take their time at the counter asking about what each strain's effects would be (and one kid who went "so how many grams is an 8th?", to which everyone yelled "GTFO if you're asking that!")In early April, I was actually in Colorado Springs on a business trip at the Broadmoore.. Yes, there were several operational dispensaries open then.. You have to look for a green cross on buildings (like the red medical cross but green for obvious reasons).. And because it was legal, so I guess they felt more comfortable speaking on the subject, all these executives we met with were sharing stories about times they got high both in their 20s and more recently too haha.. Some even said they ventured off resort to try today's weed, which is obviously far more potent I can't really describe how liberating it is to walk into a store and casually pick your buds based on the desired effects.. And you're getting crystally, sparkly buds grown organically for a very similar price to what regular stuff costs here.. Then add in edibles, it was awesome.. No different than going to a liquor store, only everyone was way more friendly haha!

That's a fantastic story CR! I did also make it to the 'dam once.. We went into a shop and looked over the menu with my brother and gf.. They picked the least-potent strain while I figured I'd test my tolerance a bit.. Got AK47 (what an idiot! try something you can't buy easily back home) and we went to this place called The Cannabis College, where they had a vape attached to a pipe (and all these cool videos about how BS pot prohibition really is).. Hit like a charm and we walked back to our hostel, though definitely would not have made it back if she didn't remember the way because all those streets/canals look the same.. We laid on my bed watching the ceiling swirl while my brother couldn't stop giggling.. Later we went to Walk to Wok, which is like Chipotle but asian stir-fry and will definitely go viral when legalization spreads.. Also tried brownies a different day and they tasted amazing, not like the crap I cooked up in college! I'd love to have had a story like that but my problem is, I get super paranoid when I smoke so I know I'd have been freaking out if I consumed that much.. Any time I'm in a public place I have that feeling like everyone is looking at me and everyone knows! It's better now that I'm not a novice and know how to keep it together, but still creeps into my mind.. Double-paranoid at hockey games but I will say it's a fun experience if you've never done it Anyways, went to Colorado this past year and it was amazing.. Tried everything from gummies and chocolates to soda! I'm a really good skier so it was no problem on the mountain either (add in some tunes on the iPhone and I was in heaven).. Can't wait to go back.. They're collecting millions in tax revenue right now while the rest of the country guzzles its alcohol and pops its prescription pills (both way more harmful and actually physically addictive).. Gotta love it!

Be sure to post about the experience!

Totally agree on Gomez.. Watching him live last night, he looked constantly on the tips of his skates like his body wanted to go faster than his feet would allow.. A couple times he tried to dangle with the puck and ultimately coughed it up.. Seems to fit with his comments when the PTO was announced - that he still believes in his mind that he has some left in the tank.. His body, however, disagrees
-
Can we please get back on topic and continue talking about pot?
-
Looking like it.. Clemmer/Kinky in net for sure
-
You're killing me.. I know we'll probably find out on Sunday (right?!) but I am not the patient type haha
-
Now THAT is a real GDT!! Watching from the couch but I plan to be in chat.. Let's just score a goal damnit

Speaking of which, do you know what changes? Someone at Media Day told me they had that area blocked off for construction and my guess is that's where the boardwalk is going since it's a wide space, has food stalls right there, and most importantly - would be very visible on TV during the intermissions with Deb and JMac

I agree with you guys.. "The Rock" needs to be absorbed by Hell, and make that a section for all Devils info (general news, discussion topics, team updates, STH news, tickets for sale, arena/Newark info) with longer threads for different topics.. People come on here looking first and foremost for interesting Devils content.. By consolidating, it's easier for newcomers to come on and get all of the content they want in one location, then as they join and get more active, branch out in to the off-topic threads and build out the community.. But the content has to be there, easy to find, and discussion needs to be moderated to keep petty/personal stuff out I mentioned this in a message to DM, but I'll also make it public here.. I love this forum as it was the first community I joined when I really got into the Devils.. Posted here religiously for years, as many folks know.. But recently I've moved primarily to HF because the content is all in one easy-to-find location, they have a fantastic STH/arena/Newark thread that is an amazing resource to many STH, and the discussions are moderated better.. They used to over-moderate, but now it's at a really good balance.. My personal feeling is that NJDevs began to go downhill when DM and MSweet took all mod responsibilities internal, and obviously because they are busy working and having lives, were unable to keep a lot of riff-raff out.. This board became filled with personal attacks and crap like that from some really bad members just looking to fight and spew hate, and a lot of good members left.. I think now there's a few other mods like Triumph (not sure if they're just chat mods though) so things here seem to be more calm, but some of the damage has been done and we might not get those folks back While HF has the diversity of being a collection of other teams' fans, this forum can separate itself by being the place just for Devils fans with no outside trolls (obviously allowing any fans of other teams to join so long as they realize we are a passionate Devils forum, therefore biased).. This board also has the chat, which is a solid differentiator and should be promoted more heavily to members.. It's awesome when the chat is crowded and discussion is flowing.. Maybe also a partnership with a guy like In Lou We Trust or Talking Red (Devils podcast) to give them more followers in exchange for some visibility to their user-base It's all about having good content and good moderating.. I'll recommit to helping drive the flow of good content here, especially on the STH side.. I just want to know that there's solid direction for this forum going forward.. We have a great thing here but it needs to evolve, and it needs to be overseen properly to keep discussions flowing in the right direction Just my 2 cents

Haha thanks guys I will bring it up to DM

Totally agree that we can't alienate fans but I don't think we need to let them dictate the way the organizations wants to run itself.. And when it comes to smokers, there aren't a ton at games who do light up during the event (relative to total atte4ndance), and of the ones who do, how many would actually boycott games because of it? Likewise, how many families/people feel alienated when those doors open and smoke wafts into the building? It'll be interesting to see how much of an impact this ends up having, but my guess is not much
-
The way the Devils seem to be positioning it, it's a state/city regulation they are just following.. I'm sure they hate it too and don't mind pointing the finger elsewhere when the smokers come complaining But yeah, if it's a deal-breaker for some folks in terms of going to games, I personally say good riddance to them
-
I'll just say that for years I've wanted a dedicated, stickied season ticket holder thread so that the STH community here has 1 place to go for updates.. I've been primarily on HFBoards lately in large part because of that thread with STH updates and arena/Newark info all in one spot.. I just don't get that here and don't want to start threads for every STH update.. Obviously non-STH would be more than welcome to comment but I think it would be really beneficial and might draw other Devils STH to posting here
-
Per an email to Season Ticket Holders this morning: Figured this could get its own thread since we have smokers and smoking-haters alike in here
-
I'd have to think that a lot of the costs were simply around logistics.. They had to replace the arena piece by piece and all over a bustling train station in a crowded city.. Not to mention they rushed every summer with employees working 24/7 to get it done, so I'm sure they paid a lot of time and a half So based on that, my guess is that $1 billion figure is pretty inflated and MSG loves throwing it out there for the publicity of looking like big shots.. We all know how they love to toot their own horn (some call it borderline brainwashing) about how amazingly famous and incredible the Garden is

I don't care if it's preseason and we don't have Schneider in net, kill them and win!!
-
I'll say that in high school baseball, a kid one year ahead of me always took #26 because older players go first when picking.. I still did alright, making varsity sophomore and junior years with #36, but my senior year I finally got #26 and my game happened to improve considerably.. Hit .403, almost broke the school record in doubles, and made All-Conference.. I'm not saying it was the number, but it might have been the number
-
Beat me to it lol.. Great news!!
-
Not that I think we were going to come back in that game but wow that some a BS call.. The ref was behind Cory!!
-
They're actually the only other NHL team now that owns one and uses it all season.. All the other teams just rent it
-
Yup I love Harris and Blitzer.. Btw, I think the NHL rents this for the teams in the Finals because we had it in 2012 and luckily I still have the picture I took:
