Honestly I thought this was one of his strongest all around games. His goal was obviously a beauty (maybe he could give Palms some pointers), but he was also doing a lot of the little things. Other than struggling against Crosby at the end on FO’s he was great tonight.

His goal was absolutely a beauty, and he fought a good physical battle before getting the puck back and putting it top shelf. Last year, he would've fallen down and the play would've been over. Perfect effort goal by him.

    He's playing awesome.

As if extending a team record for most consecutive home losses in this team's history wasn't bad enough we really gotta go down miserable memory lane about a final that could have been? Woof

Well, as long as we’re rehashing old grudges about the 2012 cup finals, someone has to mention Mark Fayne missing a golden chance to possibly win game 1 late in the 3rd.

One of my worst memories from that series was that Kovalchuk crossbar late in the 3rd in game 2. If I remember correctly, there was like 20 seconds left. If he scores that, the series is tied up at 1 going back to LA. Whole different story.

I honestly feel like we never got the props we deserved in that series. Games 1 and 2 finished 2-1 in OT. We were in it the whole time. We win one of those and it's a whole different series.

But imo, our "Stanley Cup" that year was beating the Rangers in the ECF. That Henrique OT goal is probably one of my best sports moments ever. The Flyers series was also insane. It felt so good to put it in their face after their fans thought they were running away with the series after winning game 1.

Nobody could bother me during those playoffs, I was in the zone watching the games lol. I pretty much remember every goal scored, and I revisit the highlights once in a while. Great moments for me, all around.

I can't wait for this young core to get back to that level. I'm confident it'll be sooner rather than later.

Well they couldn't have been down 3-0 because they lost that game when he got that boarding call.  If I recall correctly, we were down 2-0 and I think we were still very much in what was obviously a pivotal Game 3, and that boarding call always felt like the thing that tipped the scales - I think they scored 3 goals on that major penalty and it sealed the game, which is what made us go down 3-0 in the series.   Not saying we would've won the Cup, but without that stupid boarding call, who knows, maybe we win that third game and the series is 2-1 instead of a daunting 3-0.

In fact, that was in game 6. The series was 3-2 LA by then. The hit happened in the 1st period, and the kings did score 3 I believe.

I gotcha. It sucks that it was 8-9 years ago and you're right, prior to that we hadn't done much since 2007, but that 2012 run was still pretty cool, and you could make the argument we were one Stephen Gionta 5 minute major penalty away from a Stanley Cup (or whoever it was that took that boarding call)

It was Bernier. Still fvcking stings when I see highlights :(
