Thread has been quiet for too long - figured I'd share my latest acquisition. It's not a Devils gamer though - I made the purchase because I think Sherbrooke Phoenix (QMJHL) have one of the best jerseys in hockey. The player is Daniel Audette, a 2014 5th round pick by the Habs. So, anyone else acquire any new gamers recently, Devils or otherwise? Anyone looking to sell anything?

If the by-laws loophole is legit, then we absolutely should take Kovalchuk back. At the very least, we trade him (which is the most likely outcome IMO). It'd be foolish not to accept a player with his talents and trade value. I know we all hate him for leaving but not bringing him back for either option would be cutting off the nose to spite the face. Given the insane contract that he signed, the scenario of him coming back (whether to play or to be traded) would really be the best possibility: he voided his contract at the ideal time, saving the franchise $2+ mill in recapture penalties and ending his bloated contract during a time of financial instability. If traded, we get something for him. If we keep him, we get an elite scorer that our team desperately needs. Agreed in full. I definitely think that people tend to over-value first round draft picks. Lots of fans, myself included, were ticked off when Lou traded our 9th overall pick in 2013 for Schneider. But, after the dust settled and I had a chance to evaluate the situation, I realized he traded a gamble opportunity for a guaranteed #1 goalie.

Tons of people apparently think Kessel is overpaid. I really don't see it that way. He is an elite goal scorer with five 30+ goal seasons (would've been 6 if not for the lockout). With the new CBA preventing front-loaded contracts, that production is absolutely worth IMHO his $8 mill cap hit. He's 27 and has four seasons 7 seasons left on his contract - analytics show he should remain an elite goal scorer for at least two of these seasons.

Does anyone have a digital version of (or know where I can download) Marty's final game as a Devils (4/13/14 vs Boston Bruins)?

I have an Elias 09-10 Red Set 2 and Greene 11-12 White Set 3 and both are really clean. The Greene jersey is particularly surprising considering his style of play and that it was from the 11-12 playoff run. I had an 11-12 Zubrus and there were tons of repairs/marks on it. Made me respect him even more as a player.

I'm all for the "Best Case Scenario" - get a top pick and trade away most, if not all, pending UFAs. As for the "Better Case Scenario," not trying to be a Debbie Downer here but in order to even have a chance over 50% (55.1%) of making the playoffs, the Devils would have to go 27-8-4 for the remaining 39 games. That'd be a legendary, all-time NHL turnaround by a team that hasn't won more than 2 games in a row since the first 3 games of the season. I know many will likely reference the second half of the 2010-2011 season under Lemaire, but even then the team went 29-17-3 and I'd strongly argue that that team had much more talent. The one on eBay is definitely pricey making the gamble that Severson pans out much more risky. I was able to get a very good deal on this (and I've always been a fan of Kelowna's jerseys) so I went for it.

That actually makes perfect sense as I'm pretty sure the Devils only wore the EDGE 1.0 jerseys during the 07-08 season. But this opens up a whole new, likely unanswerable question, "Why the heck did they ever make retail EDGE 1.0 retros ?"
