  1. What became of Port44's building? The new laws for breweries could not have saved that business, but I wonder if they could encourage someone else to try the same idea (done better).
  2. Probably gonna have to schedule some repairs to a wall inside the Oakland Coliseum after that inning.
  3. How is Tennessee doing this?
  4. I've been watching for a couple of years now, and I've come to the belief that probably more than half of the "injuries" do involve some pain or a real collision, but that also more than half of the time, the player embellishes and/or milks it. The incentives to do that are there (refs don't want to keep stopping the game, and it just simply doesn't look like it was much of a big deal if the player stays on his feet), and the disincentives are not strong enough.

  6. James van Riemsdyk scores the first goal of the 2013-14 NHL season.
  7. I was in Vegas the other day. Here's what they think (odds to win it all): Chicago 6/1 Pittsburgh 6/1 Rangers 8/1 Los Angeles 8/1 Boston 8/1 Detroit 13/1 St. Louis 15/1 Vancouver 15/1 Montreal 20/1 San Jose 20/1 Toronto 20/1 Anaheim 22/1 Minnesota 25/1 Islanders 25/1 Philadelphia 25/1 Washington 25/1 Edmonton 30/1 Ottawa 30/1 Dallas 40/1 Colorado 40/1 New Jersey 45/1 Nashville 50/1 Tampa Bay 50/1 Columbus 60/1 Carolina 60/1 Phoenix 60/1 Winnipeg 75/1 Buffalo 80/1 Calgary 100/1 Florida 150/1 So the money says we finished 6th in our division.
  8. I always enjoyed the little pieces they would do about Brodeur and his dad (generally before games in MTL). They were quite the father-son combo. Very sad
  9. I remember the first time that I heard the Chelsea Dagger (I think it was in a beer commercial or something), I thought, "That would be a great song at a sporting event." I did not specifically think Devils Goal Song because R&Rpt2 was so entrenched for that purpose. Sadly, I feel that if we went with it now, we would look like we're simply trying to copy the Cup Champs.
  10. Fans at the Air Canada Centre got UFC two nights in a row!
  11. It is. I upgraded the Jets win probability from 12.5% to 22.22% after I heard about the Pats injuries. I wouldn't have blamed Hill on that fumble if the foot had contacted the ball directly, but he HAS to learn to clutch that ball more securely against his body. A great play to start a drive turned into an opponent's field goal. Can't have that.
  12. Even a cat that had 9 lives would be done for.
  13. This one came with a light body and bitter finish. And no, I did not mean for this post to go in the Beer thread.
  14. Manta. . . you were right. You win.
  15. uhhhhhhhhhhhh... what?
  16. Well there's that defenseman trade, but it's not our weakest d-man. I think Tri might have a fit. Is there somebody left that we want to use this cap room for? Or is this making room for room's sake?
  17. I'm enjoying a pint from a fresh keg of Old Rasputin. I know it's not for everyone, but that's a damn-good, flavorful stout.
  18. I found it hard. It's hard to find. Oh well, whatever, nevermind.
  19. That's absurd. Trash talking is not some time-honored tradition. It is completely frivolous to the competition of sports. It's the realm of a bunch of self-indulgent jerks with ego problems.I do agree though with whoever said that this will be hell to officiate. Games could get bogged down with finger-pointing.
  20. So did we sweep a doubleheader or win a tripleheader? A very nice day for the future of the organization, and it's always pleasant to pick up wins in Atlanta.
  21. 4-hit game for Duda. He missed a home run by just a few feet.
  22. Ah, I remember my traditional meal at CAA for Devils and Nets games: a large Mt. Dew & and a king size KitKat. Oh 12 year-old Devils Dose, your high-fructose whimsy was boundless!
