  1. We'll give Dallas White, Langs and Rolston for Brad Richards and Mark Fistric.
  2. Aren't that good compared to what? There are a lot of teams that have less talented players than we do but are still managing to win games.
  3. I don't think a PMD is a crucial right now as a shut down d man. I still believe the whole thing rests on Vanderbeek's shoulders. I imagine he thought he could boost attendance by bringing in a hot shot player. Attendance is down 4% now. Great Job! Signing Kovy seemed very much unlike Lou.
  4. Rule is that if you can see the numbers clearly on the back of the sweater then you don't hit the player. That was a hit from behind.
  5. No one is going to take Rolston at his price. We probably wouldn't get anything immediately useful in return. White right now with all the injuries to the D corp is vital to the team. Langenbrunner is an option but again we might not get much of anything useful in return. I was watching the Stars game last night and I think I'd be happy sending Langs to Dallas for Trevor Daley, I don't think Dallas would part with Fistric or Niskanen. But then again you're dealing with an owner in Dallas who is really stingy. I know we've been talking about the need for a PM D-Man but Greene and Taormina seem to be doing a decent job. I think we need to focus on finding a shut down D-Man. You'd have White, Salvador, Taormina, Tallinder and Greene plus one other shut down D-Man. With Magnan being a 7th D I think we would look good. Let's trade Langs and get another Defensive Defenseman. Any thoughts?
  6. Citing the Versus crew for hockey analysis is like asking my dog to help with algebra.
  7. Name the section the 9th circle of hell like Dante's Inferno. Trust me you don't want to name it after any of the circles 1-8.
  8. Most of those moveable players have NTCs. That's a big ball of Matza. The only feasible route is firing the coach. I'm all for trading certain players away but who are you going to trade? The guys that have been perceived as headaches attittude and monetarily-wise all have NTC. I'm kind of undecided on cutting Salvador. He'd definitely be a plus if and when he comes back. We seem to be decent(at least better) when it comes to a D that can add offensively. We need another Defensive D Man
  9. Which two? I believe Arnott is putting up a good effort as well but there's only so much you can do. Keep in mind I am an unofficial keeper of Jason Arnott
  10. Firing MacLean and bringing in another coach doesn't fix the problem with the players. The Devs have been described as coach killers. Having Lou behind the bench sends the message that he ain't f%cking around.
  11. I think you answered your question by naming the man who left in 03-04
  12. Scott Hartnell got a haircut. Time to trade for him.
  13. I'm all for Lou coming in to coach. When did he come in in 05-06? I can't recall the exact date but I remember we started winning and got to the second round of the playoffs.
  14. I wouldn't trade Arnott. No one will take him at his current salary. Daneyko, c'mon seriously. If it's a game where we're getting beat handily(like most games this season) it's not band wagon to change the channel or do something else.
  15. All I know is that I hope the Leafs have a postgame hangover from last night's game come this Thursday.
  16. Well what do you expect? Remember when he started calling those guys ni&&ers during his stand up routine... Oh wrong Mike Richards. Kramer is the captain of the Flyers!!!
  17. True Dat. They come within a shootout goal of missing the playoffs last season and they come out this season playing with a purpose. We get our asses handed to us in last year's playoffs and continue getting our asses handed to us.
  18. Kovy's more interested in what theme he wants for his new house than being competitive. He spent 7 1/2 seasons with a mediocre club, what's another season give or take of being on a lackluster club to him?
  19. I understand what you're saying, Daneyko, but there's a difference between saying, "I'm done with this team. Go Insert Another Team Name Here" and "I'm done with this team for the season. It's pointless to watch them lose every night." I'm on the precipice of being done with this team for the season myself, but that doesn't change my devotion to the Devils. I'm not jumping to another team's bandwagon. I may still watch other games including Devils games, but let's be honest, at this point, we can almost predict the outcome of every Devils game: A big L for us. It's not like we're playing inspired hockey either. So if I watch a Lightning or Caps game and pull for them over another team not named the Devils it doesn't mean I've become a fan of the Bolts or Caps it just means I want to watch some interesting hockey. Come playoff time if the Devils aren't in and I choose to watch the playoffs I'll pick my horse and run with it, but come October 2011 I'll be there from the get-go rooting for the Devs.
  20. You bring up an interesting point. However some folks have better things to do rather than watch their team tank. I could understand questioning someone deciding to not watch for the rest of the season if the team won some lost some but we're losing and losing big time. Everyone has their threshold so what's the point? If things continue we can expect this team to win one game then lose 4 then win one then lose four. Those odds aren't great and I'd rather do something else than run with the idea that maybe just maybe the Devils might win that night's game. It's just not worth it with those odds to put in two hours. I myself don't catch many Devils games because A)I'm not home a whole lot B) Devils hockey isn't my A number 1 priority. I've got other things I can do. If the Devils right their ship, at least a bit, then that may encourage me to trun in a bit more. Right now it's not worth it.
  21. I was quite surprised myself to hear about Rolston returning so fast. You have some interesting thoughts there. I have speculated in addition that there is a lot of resentment and uncomfortability on this team. There are a lot of players on this team that were shaped and molded to play in the system of the Devils style of play. Next thing you know they bring in Kovy long term and change the system to better fit Kovy's style of play. Now instead of being about a team game it's about a guy who isn't developed in house and how he'll be the face of the franchise for years to come.
  22. At this point I'd be happy with Alfred Hitchcock. Hey, Devsman, I think your bandwagon criticism is overblown. Some folks feel that the Devils are just chronically bad this year. So unless you're a masochist then what's the point of wasting 2 hours watching your team get that crap beat out of them.
  23. Hey what are you gonna do? The NHL wants to market hockey to the casual fan. They're idea is to do that by manufacturing a story around the Pens and Caps. A horse race needs to be created between these two clubs to build fanfare. Sometimes you gotta skew things a bit to get the narrative you want. Welcome to the NBA-ization of the NHL
  24. Weren't the Pens and Caps pretty much almost exclusively at the top of the heap with top prospects earlier in the decade? Pens: Crosby, Fleury, Malkin, Staal Caps: Ovechkin, Semin, Backstrom, Green
