I find it more ironic that the only year we go out and instead of going out and finding workman-like players(like we have typically done)we put all our effort into signing a high scoring player(something we normally don't do) and we suck.

Five points out of a playoff spot isn't a bright spot when you're dead last in the conference. That means that every team in front of you has to tank more often than not and you have to get on a hot streak just to get past those teams jockeying for 8th. All that with a team that has shown absolutely no determination since the playoffs. Remember that? When Lou lost his sh*t. Good lot that did. We came out next game and put up a goose egg in an elimination match. And I'm no fairweather friend. Jersey is still my team through thick and thin I just don't believe in this pie in the sky silliness sprinkled with pixie dust. I'm a realist and I prefer to be that way. You're optimistic and that's good for you, but to call me fair-weather is unfair. I still have a Devils car decal on my back window and I still wear my Devils stuff regardless. I hate that. That kind of naive thinking is in line with those who think that because you happen to disagree with your country's policy on something means you're Un-American.

Just the truth. Show me a team post-lockout that has had a record similar to the Devs have right now who made it into the playoffs that season.

Who cares if we win or lose. Our season's over. If any of you haven't noticed we've only got 12 points and 14 teams ahead of us There is no way we can get back into any competitive shape points-wise. It's great to say we're only 5 points out of a playoff spot but that's only if every other team in our conference doesn't play. We're irrelevant. And for those who were excited about the win over Edmonton, I couldn't have been more disappointed. The Oilers were thoroughly thrashed by every team on their away trip. To win a comeback game in OT against a team that was getting manhandled is ridiculous and embarrassing. If we were truly competitive we would have won that game by at least a few goals.

We'd be looking pretty good with DBuf and Andrew Ladd in our lineup! DBUFF!!!!

Players aren't responding to JMAc IMO and he's made some boneheaded decisions ala scratching Kovy Edmonton was crushed the other night so I figure if we lose to them the we need a big shakeup.

You know I'm still pushing for my idea where a player has a complete meltdown that would make Steve Downie say, "Jesus! Now that's a meltdown!" Bring back bench-clearing brawls! I miss things like the Good Friday Brawl or Massacre as some are apt to call it.

Case in point: Ilya Kovalchuk. This is team my foot.

They will use this idea in game 7 when the Penguins face the Capitals in the Stanley Cup final. Yes, I know they're both Eastern Conference teams but it will boost ratings.

Perhaps Johnny Mac should stop juggling lines so much. I'm sure that would help. Keep Langs Zajac Kovy together, then perhaps noodle a bit with the other three lines until you find a match.

Gotta agree. Snipers are like pitchers in baseball. They may have their pitching game down but just because they play baseball doesn't mean they can hit. Kovy has been developed as an offensive player. Guys like Ovechkin and Crosby, who can play d and put up numbers, are few and far between. You're asking Kovy to come in and automatically start becoming a defensive stalwart when he's probably been groomed as an offensive stalwart only since he was a teenager.

Don't count me in with that group. Like I said before I've always liked Hartnell.

DevsMan, I agree with you on Clarkson and Langs(although Langs has shown signs of life lately) but I feel comfortable saying that if White were playing last Friday we wouldn't have given up 3 goals.

Hell nah! Hartnell is a great agitator who crashes the net with the best of them. If you want to see shots by Devs players not go square into Lundquist's chest every time you get a guy like Hartnell.

Calling him out is a double-edged sword. It might motivate Kovy to get his head into the game but it also adds to what I can surmise is growing dischord in the locker room. I have the distinct feeling that some players weren'ttoo happy with the Kovalchuk signing; how it's been detrimental to the cap, changed the Devils philosophy and created a lot of unwanted headaches in the off season.
